Mocha Coconut Frappuccino

August 15, 2011 by Julie 133 Comments

BIG discovery today, guys.

BIG.

Did you know that Starbucks makes a mocha coconut Frappuccino?

Judging by the responses I got to my Tweet about this discovery earlier today, yes you do.

Well, it’s a brand new flavor to me and I am basically in love.

mocha coconut light frappuccino 001

I ordered the light version of the Frappuccino late this afternoon and it tasted like a Caramel Delight Girl Scout cookie… or a Samoa, as some of you say.

caramel delight samoa

Quick poll: Are they Caramel Delights or Samoas to you? Caramel Delights all the way, bay-bay!

After working through the afternoon at Starbucks, I headed downtown for a meeting about an upcoming Orlando tech conference. I felt a little out of my element with all the talk about aps and start up technology businesses, but we’ll see where it goes!

On my way out of the meeting I stopped by Mochi for some fro yo for real reason other than me just wanting the creamy dessert.

mochi frozen yogurt

If you spend $5 at Mochi downtown you’re supposed to receive validation for parking in the garage. Well, apparently that validation only applies if you’re parked in the garage for under two hours, so I ended up paying $5 for frozen yogurt and paying $16 (YES, SIXTEEN DOLLARS!) for parking.

What a punch in the gut!

I got back to the hotel room in Ocala a little after 8:30 p.m. and am now off to slip into my pajamas and grab something quick to eat for dinner. I missed the hotel buffet (oh darn!), so I’m left to scrounge up a meal from the stuff we have in our fridge. I think that means dinner will be Greek yogurt with banana slices and a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter. That actually sounds delicious right now.

I have to chime in because clearly I live in Chicago and while I did not grow up here, my boyfriend did. I’m pretty sure he calls them Samoas? Now I HAVE to ask him. I guess it is a location thing.

Ooh, next time try getting the light frappuccino but still ask for the toppings – they put chocolate shavings and toasted coconut on top! Heaven!

On a different note, I’ve wandered through some of your past posts and you seem to offer great fitness advice for a variety of situations. If you ever do any sort of fitness Q&A again in the future, I was wondering if you could include any thoughts or tips about keeping an effective but varied workout routine without a gym membership or extensive equipment? I just graduated from college and a gym membership is just not in the budget right now. I enjoy running in my neighborhood and also have free hand weights to do a bit of strength training, but I tend to end up doing the same old same old, over and over. I’ve enjoyed your down-to-earth perspective on things in your writing so I thought you might have some interesting thoughts! Thanks!

I saw Starbucks was bringing those back! I worked there during college (2002 – 2004) and we sold them then…. I gained 20 lbs as a Starbucks barista, probably all mocha coconut weight, haha. 😉 I have resisted getting one this year, but I just might before summer ends!

On another note, I had 2 somoas from the freezer with dinner tonight. Bangin.

Did you know that caramel delights/samoas are responsible for 19% of all Girl Scout Cookie sales?

Trefoils, the worst of all continued cookies, are only 9%.

HA, Trefoils, call me back when you’ve covered yourself in some chocolate, caramel, mint, or coconut.

Mocha + coconut = amazing. I usually cut down on the amount they put in though (in a Venti/Large you get 5 pumps of mocha and 5 pumps of coconut — holy sugar!!).

I’m not a huge fan of either by itself — but combined they are like a party in my mouth.

Second, Mocha Cocunut Fraps are so delicious. I have also tried their Coconut & Cream which is coffee free. I try to stick to those while pregnant.

Third, there is a local bakery in my city that makes Samoa cupcakes and they are my all time favorites.
