If you follow me on Twitter, then you already know the deal.
I got a call from the vet early yesterday evening. I was surprised to hear from him since he said that he likely wouldn’t have the results from Sadie’s pathology report until the very end of the week. My voice perked up over the phone when I realized who was calling me, but the inflection in my voice was met with a rather serious tone and I immediately knew the pathology results our vet was calling to share were going to be a little scary.
Apparently they don’t know what Sadie’s little lump is and they want it completely removed. They think it is a kind of sarcoma, a type of cancer that develops from certain tissues, and want to do further testing.
I’m about to leave to take Sadie in for surgery this morning to get that freaking lump out of her. Ryan and I are keeping our thoughts positive. So many of you shared amazing stories in the comments section of my morning post yesterday (thank you!) and I know dogs have cancerous lumps removed all the time and live long and happy lives. I’m trying to postpone any worries I may have until I receive all the information from the vet.
It looks like the Cone of Shame may resurface later today…
I love that little girl.
Breakfast
I inhaled my breakfast this morning as I typed up this blog post.
Steel cut oats with egg whites and a sliced orange!
Off to the vet!
Best wishes to you and Sadie! My boyfriend just had a sarcoma tumor removed from his neck yesterday. Hopefully everything goes as smooth for you as it did for him!
My husband and I both adore your pup. Sending out prayers and hope that things go well!!
I read your blog everyday (its been almost 6 months now!), and this is my first comment. Just wanted to say good luck and that I will be sending lots of positive thoughts for Sadie your way. 🙂
Good luck to you, Ryan and Sadie, I will be thinking of her today! I have a Vizsla myself and know they are an amazing, positive, loving and resilient breed. She will do great!

Poor little Sadie! Sadie, you, and Ryan are all in my thoughts and prayers!
Good luck to you guys! I’m sure all will be fine with her, but I know how it is to worry about a sweet little fur baby! Sending lots of love your way. I’m sure Sadie will be body slamming ya in no time! 🙂
I’ll be thinking about Sadie all day. Saying a little prayer for your little family right now!
aw good luck to Sadie! I hope the lump ends up being nothing!
I hope all goes well for Sadie.
All the best for Sadie and you guys!
One thing you could also do to help Sadie’s health is check her dog food. Avoid food that has soy and corn in it (often used even in expensive pet food); often genetically modified (GMO) corn and soy are used in dog food, and there have been clinical trials that these foods cause tumor cancer in rats (you can google those;). — so, better be safe than sorry. The blue buffalo brand has mostly animal protein in it, corn free (but make sure to check the ingredients list!).
Again, all the best!
Aw, poor puppy. I’m sending positive thoughts your way and hoping everything works out and that she’s back up and healthy in no time.
Good luck today, Sadie! Lots of prayers coming your way!
I’m sending good thoughts your way. You acted quickly which is very important and now you can get the treatment Sadie needs quickly. Keep us posted, wish I could send her a little treat.
Sending good thoughts your way! I bet she’ll be back to her old self in no time 😉
Praying for sweet Sadie! I hope you’re able to soak up lots of cuddle time with her this afternoon. I think she will be just fine & you’re just lucky to have a vet who is proactive! 🙂 sending positive thoughts to the Fagan family today!
Good luck. Our yellow lab (who was 8 then i believe) had a lump on her leg that they said could be cancerous but because it was so big they were going to have to remove her whole leg. We said forget that, let’s just see how she does with all four legs…2 years later and she is still kickin!
Hugs to you three! I used to be a vet tech and we saw this all the time! As long you catch it early (which you did) once its removed they are totally fine! Keep us in the loop!
Sending love to Sadie and your family! She’ll pull through, she’s a trooper 🙂
Good luck, Sadie!
Saying a prayer and sending good thoughts for a quick surgery and fast recovery!
Even though I don’t know Sadie personally, I feel like I do and am praying/hoping for the best for that sweet girl!
Yea!! Get that freakin’ thing out, like you said! Glad he called back so fast and was able to get you in. More good wishes coming your way today!
Awww 🙁 wishing you the best!
Thinking about all of you and sending you good thoughts this morning!
Good luck sadie! Always thinking good thoughts about the pups! 🙂
Good luck Sadie!
I can totally relate to how you’re feeling right now.. it’s your baby! Keep positive thoughts! My prayers are with you guys during this stressful time.
We went through the same thing last year with our 3 year-old doggie. They didn’t know what the lump was (on his neck), and removed it. A year later he is just fine. Hoping all goes well with Sadie’s surgery. Being a doggie-mommy I know how scary it can be!
Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!! Nothing scarier than the unknown when it comes to the ones we love!
Best of luck to Sadie today! I am keeping all three of you in my thoughts today! She seems like a strong pup and I’m sure she will be fine 🙂
Poor Sadie! She’s in good hands, and she has the best parents to help her recover. I’m sure she’ll be back to her old self in no time!
Still thinking of you all! I’m sure she’ll be just fine. Hang in there doggie mama!
I am so sorry about Sadie.. I completely understand what puppy love means and I would be freaking out to if my pup was going through the same thing. I am sending positive thoughts! My childhood dog had many bumps and lumps over the years and lived to be almost 17 years old! Hang in there!
Aww!!!! So sorry to hear this… but, sounds like it’s definitely a good thing for your vet to get in there and the sooner the better. You’re a great puppy owner. Hang in there!
Keeping you and Sadie in my thoughts today!
Good luck, Fagan Family!
Thoughts and prayers to you all. Glad to hear you were proactive and taking her in early and getting it removed. We went through the same situation with our lab last year. The earlier the better.
Try and not be too alarmed. My pup has gone through many of the same ordeals. He’s older now and although he does indeed have cancer now, which our vet told us he would have limited months left to live. Well my dog didnt take those words to heart and has lived many more happy years and some days he even has more energy than he did as a young puppy! Thinking of Sadie today! 🙂
Thoughts are with you, Ryan, and Sadie! I truly hope everything goes well today and that the surgery solves the problem.
My thoughts are with you, Ryan, and sweet Sadie! It’s my hope she’ll recover quickly and be running again with you soon! My dachshund is my child (I seriously call him my “little love” since the hubby is my love, hehe), so I empathize greatly!
Sending prayers up for Sadie and sending positive thoughts your way!
Sending positive thoughts to you and Sadie.
She’s such a stronger girl– she’ll be fine 🙂
Everything will go just fine 🙂 Thinking of you, Ryan, and Sadie.
Good luck to Sadie – we’re all thinking of you.
I am so sorry to read of this news. Everything will be okay. Give Miss Sadie a big hug.
Sorry to hear that Julie! I know you must be terrified but take comfort in the fact that you are a great Mommy and found it very early. Best wishes for Sadie!
