Nursery Organization and Lake Time

June 18, 2015 by Julie 41 Comments

Good morning to you! I cannot believe it’s almost Friday. When visitors are in town, time seems to fly by. It’s been so nice having my mom here all week! We were crazy-productive yesterday and spent hours and hours organizing the nursery. Stay tuned for a nursery tour next week!

My mom will be leaving this morning when I head off to the gym to teach and I’m already sad about her departure. She has been incredibly helpful with everything baby-related and her nursing background makes her awesome at answering just about every question I throw her way.

We wanted to do something a little more fun for my mom’s final night in North Carolina yesterday and decided an evening boat ride would be a nice way to cap off the day. Of course Sadie was more than game and joined us for some time on the water and an evening swim in the lake.

With temperatures holding steady in the upper 90s in Charlotte, it seems like most people are limiting time outdoors to water-related activities. Every pool and splash pad I’ve driven past has been hoppin’!

Today

This morning I opened up the fridge after I woke up in search of some breakfast inspiration. I saw a handful of hardboiled eggs that needed to be used and put together an egg salad sandwich for my morning meal.

egg salad sandwich

I almost made it on a toasted English muffin to make it feel a little more “breakfasty” but when you have a loaf of fresh bakery bread on hand, you gotta use it, right!?

It was a bit of an odd breakfast, but I am loving sandwiches of any kind right now, so it worked.

Now it’s time for me to change before I’m off to hug my mom goodbye and head to the gym to teach. I’ll see you guys later this afternoon!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Saying goodbye to your mom will be hard, I’m sure. Just think, all too soon you will be introducing her to your new baby boy!

I always got the most excited when it was time to out away all the shower gifts and organize the nursery. Getting the room ready for the baby just makes it all that much more real.

I am sure I’ll be making adjustments once our little one arrives! We actually have nothing in two of the three dresser drawers in the nursery right now because I’m not sure what I will want where just yet.

I’ve been eating such weird breakfasts lately. Usually they’re more of “lunch” meals – fresh veggies and tuna, and then I have my typical breakfast – eggs and a smoothie, for dinner. Somewhat backwards but it hits the spot!

The closet looks great. FYI the Baby Einstein music toy I see there, is a life saver for us. We have used it since my little man was a few weeks old. The lights would distract him during diaper changes and the music would calm him. Now at ten months, it’s still one of his favorite toys! It’s my go to shower gift.

You would think with the heat and sweating you wouldn’t want anything but watermelon! I’m surprised along with watermelon, you want sandwiches! I’m the same way, though. It’s so hot here and all I want is macaroni and cheese or waffles/pancakes (with ice cream ;)!

I rarely comment, but I noticed the little toy still in its packaging on the shelf in your nursery and that is the BEST toy ever! Seriously. My son has loved that toy since he was about 10 months old – he is 17 months now. He has played the music so many times that it needs a new battery. It actually stays in my car bc it is the perfect car ride entertainment for him 🙂

One thing I learned while organizing the nursery for my daughter was to not wash anything until she was moving into that size. Some babies grow really fast and some grow slowly. My sis in law wasn’t able to use so many adorable clothes for my nephew because she washed everything as she got it. He flew threw all little sizes and she couldn’t exchange anything.
