Peer Pressure

November 9, 2011 by Julie 64 Comments

Well, gosh! After all of your “Just do it!” comments on this morning’s post, I bit the bullet and signed up for the Women’s Half Marathon.

registration

Talk about peer pressure. At least this was a good kind of peer pressure!

Just don’t start telling me to smoke ciggies anytime soon, okay?

dog smoking

(Oh how I wish Sadie slept soundly enough for me to mess with her!)

I’m really looking forward to running the Women’s Half Marathon.

Considering I spent nearly all 13.1 miles of the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon watching the back of Ryan’s t-shirt and feeling like I was going to die, I’m exited to take this race a little easier and enjoy the challenge of completing 13.1 miles at a pace that doesn’t kill me like I did when I ran the Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in August 2010.

Lunch

I was feeling super lazy in the kitchen when lunch rolled around today and fixed myself a simple turkey and cheese wrap on a whole wheat tortilla with an apple and a cup of Greek yogurt sweetened with honey.

Also included in today’s lunch?

I don’t drink diet soda very often, but when Ryan and I saw this at the grocery store on Sunday, I had to pick it up. Double fudge soda???

It tasted like carbonated tootsie rolls… or chocolate DumDums. Quite strange.

And now I’m quite burpy. Smile

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Good for you on signing up for the race! I know you said that running doesn’t come naturally to you, but two halfs in a month? And one already a sub-2? You’re a runner, girl! No doubt about it!

That dog picture is hilarious! I love pictures of animals doing human-like things.

I just included a polar soda in my post from yesteday (http://www.cookwithb.com/great-finds-from-the-free-table/)! Looks like that company has some pretty crazy flavors in general! The pumpkin pie seltzer was pretty strange too, but I decided I kind of, maybe liked it? I did finish it, after all…

I just grabbed a bunch of the new Polar seltzers too. I’ve only tried the Cinnamon & Pumpkin Spice ones so far. I agree…a little strange but couldn’t decide and kept drinking them. Like that they takes risks, nice to change up the usual raspberry-lime & mandarin orange options.

Yay for the half-marathon! I would love to do another one before 2012 rolls around but once November hits, the long races stop being scheduled in Ottawa (so far as I know) due to the cold and snow.

I try to steer clear of diet sodas (and soda in general), but every once in a while I cave and buy something totally odd like that double fudge soda. It’s just too intriguing not to try! 🙂

I’ve tried that soda before out of curiosity and felt the same way…it was weird, but good, but still weird. Probably not something I’d buy regularly. However, someone else mentioned this one above, but I just tried a white chocolate seltzer (by Polar, I think) and THAT was good!

No, we decided it was too close to Savannah/Vegas and that gets expensive since we need a hotel for all of them. But it’s a good race. Cute medals. And EVERYONE wears pink. Also, running down the pier is a blast.

I hope we will see YOU in Vegas. 🙂
