Puppy Cuddles

April 19, 2012 by Julie 128 Comments

Every morning should begin with puppy cuddles.

cuddling dog

cuddling with dog

One of Sadie’s favorite ways to cuddle is to put her back against my chest and drape her neck over my neck, looking out over the other side of my body, creating a kind of Sadie-scarf over my neck.

Of course it is nearly impossible to photograph this cuddling style because the minute the camera comes out, Sadie becomes instantly alert and gets that deer-in-the-headlights look. I’m sure my fellow dog owners can relate! It’s ridiculously hard to get adorable sleepy puppy pictures.

Breakfast

Waffles!

healthy breakfast

This morning, breakfast included two waffles topped with a mixture of ricotta and cottage cheese, freshly sliced strawberries and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

waffles with cottage cheese

I am trying my best to work through a box of Eggo Nutri-Grain waffles that I have in my freezer before I crack into one of the six boxes of my beloved Van’s waffles that I bought earlier this week when they were buy one, get one free at Publix.

The Eggo waffles taste fine but the ingredient list isn’t fantastic and there’s just something about the Van’s waffles that I like a bazillion times better than other frozen waffles out there. All in good time, my friends. All in good time.

waffles cottage cheese strawberries

Today will be a full day. I have a project due and a few other tasks that need attention. I’m also hoping to cram in a lunchtime yoga class.

Hope your day is good one and full of puppy or kitty cuddles (if you like animals, don’t have severe allergies and have a pet, that is)!

Question of the Morning

  • If you’re a pet owner or previously owned a pet, does your furry friend have a favorite way to cuddle? Please describe so I can be filled with that warm, fuzzy feeling that I get when people talk about their adorable animals.

Sadie loves the pseudo-scarf cuddle that I described above, but she also loves basically any cuddling that involves her face on my face. Face-to-face cuddling is her favorite.

She also seems to enjoy laying her chest on top of my chest when I’m reading and sticking her face up under my book. Neediest dog in the world, I’m tellin’ ya.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My kitties LOVE to cuddle. One crawls under the covers and snuggles against my husband. One has to lay sideways across my stomach, so that she’s almost sitting up. One curls up in a tight little ball on top of my head (on the pillow) like a hat. and my little boy likes to plop down aside of me (and it’s a big plop – he’s a Maine Coon), and press his forehead to mine. Adorable!

oh my gosh, i just read the FUNNIEST retraction in a magazine earlier this week. apparently ladies’ home journal used a picture of a maine coon in an article where they talked about overweight pets and this lady wrote in to correct them and tell them that maine coons are just FLUFFY and the one that they pictured did NOT have a weight problem. the magazine apologized and it was awesome. 🙂

My beagle will lay across my lap and nuzzle her head between my knees. Until she gets hot, and then she’ll move.

Also, if we go back to bed after taking her out in the morning, she’ll come to bed and curl up in a puppy ball right between our legs. It’s uncomfortable but impossible to move her because she’s so damn cute. 🙂

I always have that problem! My lil pup will get in the cutest and most comfortable position for HIMSELF and the most uncomfortable position for ME. But, I can’t get the guts to move such a precious sleeping beauty so I suffer through it. Oh the things I put myself through for that pup!! But his cuddles and smooches are SO WORTH IT!! 🙂

My kitten Tanner, every morning mind you, will jump on my back and purr as loud as he possibly can and just push his face into my hair. It’s so funny. It’s become such an usual thing that I actually wake up waiting for it! He’s so cute!

So cute! I love pet cuddles! My kitty follows me around the apartment with the look of “are you going to sit on the couch yet so I can take nap number 2,000 of the day already” with those tired eyes and deep purrs. Then the instant I sit somewhere, she is on my lap, does a circle, curls her paw, tucks her head, and is instantly out for the count. It makes me heart melt. <3

My family dog, Oliver is such a cuddler. When I go over to see him, he will just smack his entire body against my leg and then look up at me and put his paws and legs in the air so I can scratch his belly. He is such a king!

Awww…those pictures are adorable. My dog loves cuddling as well! She is very needy and if you don’t give her the attention she wants she can become a bit annoying. That’s why I try to schedule at least one long “cuddling session” with her per day. Sounds crazy but she loves it. By the way, I found sadie on twitter this morning which made my day….so cute! As you may assume Sunny (my dog) has a facebook account 🙂

One of the dogs we used to have used to trick you into thinking she wanted to cuddle, then about 1 or 2 minutes in, she’d roll over and want her belly scratched. If I didn’t do it, that was it – she’d go looking for someone else to ‘cuddle’ with. Her trick worked pretty much every single time… she was just too cute to resist!

Our dog loves cuddling – he likes to have contact with our bodies at all time during the night. If I am sleeping on my side, Colby likes to curl up in the crook of my legs and then rest his head on my butt. Must be a nice pillow 🙂

In the morning – as soon as we stir and Colby can tell someone is awake.. he army crawls his way in-between my fiance and I an gives us endless kisses. This morning he kept resting his head on top of my head because he knew I wasn’t ready to get up yet.

Our late dog loved to curl up in bed, under the blanket, with his back tucked in the corner of my knees (I curl up as well). You bet he didn’t get up even for snacks once he was under the covers. ^^

Our cats – the tomcat loves to stand on my back, kneading gently and pushing his head against the BF’s head. And the kitty – she is in love with the BF (of course, so am I), and every night as soon as he sits down on the sofa, she jumps onto his lap, starts kneading and then makes herself comfortable with her head on his chest. I would be jealous (because that is MY SPOT!), but it’s so cute…

My family dog is this little seven-pound ball of love who likes to make a bit of a whiney noise (not a bark…) until someone pays attention her her & starts giving her a shoulder rub. The minute someone stops, she scoots her body closer and closer until she’s sitting on the person’s lap begging for attention. It’s THE cutest thing. My cat was the anti-cuddler- usually. He would avoid being petted or any cuddles until he wanted them RIGHT NOW. Then, he would continue to bite me until I gave in and then he’d drool all over my lap. When he was done, instead of getting up and walking away, he’d bite me and THEN get up and walk away.

My dog is a shih tzu so she is on the smaller side but she loves to lay on my head. If I’m laying down she plops on my head (she doesn’t seem to care if I can breathe or not). It always makes me laugh.

My husband and I have 2 miniature labradoodles. One LOVES to cuddle and he will just bury his face in my lap. The other we refer to as ‘weird girl’ because she likes to flop around on the floor and lay in strange positions. She’s not much of a cuddler. Sometimes she will sit next to me & lean against me. Her body style is very similar to Sadie’s, very lean & muscular so when she’ s flopping round on the floor ‘being weird’ it’s so funny because she has these gangly legs. Quite hilarious!

April likes to spoon with one of us, while pushing her legs straight against the other (she’s in between us). Then comes the inevitable leg lift so that we rub her belly (or nether regions). Of course if you stop petting, she might lost interest and run away. She’s not a big cuddler except in bed (where she just got permission to sleep by wearing down her dad), so we take what we can get.

For as similar as Ginger and Sadie are, this is one thing Ginger doesn’t do! She’s not a lap dog and doesn’t really like to cuddle (unless it’s right when her “dad” gets home and he throws himself on the floor and she dives between is legs with her feet in the air…I’ll let you mentally visualize that one…) Otherwise, she immediately gets up when we try to cuddle her and plops herself down inches from us so she’s still close but not touching. Front paws and head over my shoulder and he sometimes wraps his back legs around me like a child. I feel like I could burp him if I wanted to! When his dad is sleeping on his stomach, Milo will lay with his front paws and head resting on his back. Everything is so much better with a puppy cuddle!
