Puss In Boots Eyes

November 7, 2012 by Julie 94 Comments

Smear a whole bunch of chocolate peanut butter on top of a banana and a hungry little dog magically appears.

Begging Vizsla

We’re all peanut butter fanatics in the Fagan household. Even the extra-furry Fagan family members… like Ryan. Zing!

Unfortunately Sadie couldn’t sample my chocolate peanut butter-topped banana since chocolate is not a dog-approved food, but since I’m such a sucker, she managed to finagle a scoop of traditional peanut butter out of me after giving me the Puss In Boots eyes.

I bought the chocolate peanut butter I used as a (highly unattractive) banana topper from Earth Origins and it is incredible.

After dinner last night, I could not stop heading into the pantry for spoonful after spoonful of this stuff while Ryan and I watched the election coverage. It’s addicting! If you see it at an Earth Origins near you, consider yourself warned!

My breakfast also included a plate of scrambled eggs with salsa for a punch of protein and a cup of peppermint mocha coffee with a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

A good start to the day!

Workout

Before breakfast, Ryan and I headed to the gym for a Wednesday workout. I started my workout with a 15 minute warm up on the elliptical before heading into the weight room to complete Workout B from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp program.

On Monday my fellow boot campers and I entered Phase 2 of Tina’s workout plan. Phase 2 focuses on strength endurance training. Today’s workout was right up my alley because it made my muscles burn but incorporated bursts of cardio moves to make me sweat and get my heart rate up. Another winner from Tina!

Question of the Morning

  • If you’re a pet owner, what food makes your pet give you the Puss In Boots eyes?

Sadie wants nothing to do with most fruit, bread or baked goods, but when it comes to meat, cheese and vegetables, she’s an equal opportunity eater.

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My dog does the same thing every time I break out the PB, which is pretty much daily! She loves veggies and popcorn too.

My dog LOVES string cheese! She will eat anything though. I’ve dropped spinach on the floor & she’ll eat it! She also likes jalapeno cheetos, which shocked me because they’re pretty spicy for a tiny little dog!

Our dog, April, likes to hang around to get the rest of the milk out of my cereal bowl. She knows that I’ll do it, and so she waits patiently.

I’ve got two black labs & a long haired weiner dog! Lately, they’ve had interest in bacon, carrots, & apples. My favorite is the 10 inch string of slobber that hangs from the labs mouth as they patiently hope for a bite of food (NOT)!

I have a 6 month golden retriever puppy & she is OBSESSED with apples and bananas. The second she sees either one she goes into full concentration mode & eyes the fruit while sitting down as perfectly as possible & not moving a muscle until you give her a piece. It’s so funny. However, she walk loves carrots, broccoli & spinach. She’s weird. Lol

So funny about that Sadie eyes…. my dog does the same thing whenever I have a banana. I always give her a little bit and she knows the word now, so if she hears it she runs to the kitchen and sits as pretty as she can.

    I’ve created a monester! 😉

I have a picky eater on my hands. My vizsla mix loves FAKE meat but will often deem real meat inedible (after delicately sniffing, nibbling and rejecting, of course). He is also obsessed with popcorn!

My husky loves cheese slices. She comes running when she hears the package open. My husband got her when he was still a bachelor and cheese slices were her “treats.” Also, when I’m cooking at the stove she’ll put herself right between me and the oven so she won’t miss any food that may fall on the floor.

Our Rottweiler, Adon, loved tortillas. Not so nutritious for humans muchless dogs, but nonetheless, he was an avid fan!

This is so funny! 😛 I have an overweight cat and pretty much anything makes him do that! But particularly fishy foods~it’s so funny because he does the puss in boots face, just without the hat.

Thank you for posting that recipe for lentil artichoke stew. I was actually just meal planning and in search of a good soup and I think this will definitely fit the bill!

My dogs absolutely freak when they hear the sound of a chip/cracker bag. I guess they know that I tend to accidentally drop these on the ground…seriously, though, it really is usually by accident!

My dog gives the exact same look when there is PB around, but with a little extra drool! 🙂
I have also seen her jump out of a deep coma-like sleep when we open a bag of lunchmeat! Girl loves her proteins! She also eats asparagus-oddly enough!

My dog thinks any food is fair game. His nose is right up there, however, first thing every morning as I get ready for work, if the peanut butter lid is screwed off, no matter where he is, he is beside me waiting to get a spoonful for breakfast. Such a mooch!! He can hear that lid from 3 rooms away!!!

Two things make my dog come running into the kitchen to give me the “eyes”… the crinkle of the baby carrot bag coming out of the fridge drawer, or the scraping of a nearly empty PB jar (which happens a lot around here).

Ironically, we have always said that one of our cats gives us “Puss Face” sometimes. He does it for food and if he thinks we are going to catch him (doesn’t love to be held). So cute!

Forgive yourself for not learning the proper way to treat your hair (We can’t learn
everything. Traditional shampoos are known culprits for causing hair and scalp allergies to many users.
Apply dog shampoo and work from the head to the tail.
