Rainy Day Dog

January 6, 2011 by Julie 71 Comments

Though Sadie would almost always give up her left foot to play around outside all day, when it is raining it’s a whole different story.

Apparently Sadie thinks she will melt in the rain. She walks on wet sidewalks with light, awkward steps and looks up at me every five seconds as if to say, “How much longer are we going to be in misery?”

Well, my mom caught wind of Sadie’s hatred for rain and bought her a pink raincoat for Christmas! Since it was rainy outside this morning, I slipped it on Sadie before our walk.

She was quite excited about her little jacket until I opened the door and she saw the rain coming down.

"I'm Mellllllllting!"

She sniffed the wet air, walked back inside and just looked at me.

"Uh uh. I ain't walkin' in that!"

I pulled her outside and we went on a short walk. Once we got moving, Sadie didn’t seem to mind the dreary weather. Apparently her rain jacket was a success!

Plus, when we got home she just about peed herself with excitement when she saw me grab a towel. This dog loves to be toweled off!

Breakfast

Breakfast was a cozy bowl of yogurt with quinoa and freshly sliced strawberries.

Yog + Quin + Strawbs

I love the texture that quinoa adds to a bowl of yogurt. It’s slightly chewy and just plain fun to eat.

Up Close and Personal

One last thing before I’m off to work…Did you hear about Starbucks’ new logo?

Not sure how I feel about that one….

One of my dogs hates water of all types unless it is mixed with dirt – she loves mud. The other loves the hose and rain. They both LOVE towels.

I hate the new logo. Yes, hate is a strong word but I really think it is awful.

When I am fortunate enough to become a dog owner, I hope mie is as adorable as sweet Sadie! I didn’t even know raincoats for dogs existed, an I sure as heck have never met one that enjoyed being toweled off!

I need to bring quinoa into my life.

Sadie looks super cute. I love her in her new raincoat. As for Starbucks new log, I don’t like it. I’m sure that its just because it’s unfamiliar, but I don’t think it’s a good idea for companies to change their logos.

My family dog does that too! He will stand there and won’t move if it’s raining. I think we need to invest in a raincoat for him as well especially since he is going to be staying with me for a few days next week.

Sadie’s raincoat is so adorable!! I think they should keep the words on the Starbucks logo. Supposedly they removed them so they can use the image on non-coffee products, but I don’t think anyone would think twice about buying something like vanilla ice cream that said “Starbucks Coffee.” Consumers know that Starbucks has a wide range of food and beverages for non-coffee lovers, purposefully removing the brand name from the logo to avoid using the word “coffee” seems strange.

Long time reader, first time commentor! Firstly, I’ve been telling my husband for awhile now how much you and I are virtually the same person (ooh, that sounded “stalker-esque”)…newlywed, runner, Pump, ridiculous dogs (mine’s a retriever), in the writing biz…weird single-white-female list goes on.

But today takes the cake…we have the same stinkin’ doormat (but with a “G”)! Weirdo.

Keep up the entertaining posts and I’ll keep “stalking” you from Canada. (PS – Piper, our poochero, got a new Snuggie for Christmas…Canada, ‘member?)

That is too funny about Sadie… Happy does pretty much the SAME thing! Whenever it’s wet outside or raining and we take her out, she steps in the grass with such care and precision so she can avoid getting her paws wet. It is the FUNNIEST thing to watch (She even goes as far as keeping one front or back paw lifted in the air so not all 4 of her paws are on the ground). She is such a happy go lucky dog who could care less about bouncing off of and running into walls inside…. but get her outside, into the rain and all she wants to do is jump up into your arms and be taken back inside! Ohh how I love dogs with personalities 🙂

My dogs like to go out in the rain because it means they get to be toweled off when they come back in! It’s their favorite game! Sometimes if they’re playing outside and don’t want to come in, I’ll say “Do you want the towel?” and they come running every time! 🙂

On another note, I tried quinoa for the first time a while back….there is a foodie blogger that I read who loves to eat the stuff and makes some great recipes with it 🙂
