Ranking Doctors

December 13, 2011 by Julie 113 Comments

Good morning! Despite a late morning annual appointment with the lady doctor, I’m hoping today will be a good and productive day.

With Christmas right around the corner, I’m trying to get a lot of my freelance projects that are due around the holidays completely done before Thursday of next week. So far I’m on course! Yesterday I was in the zone and my brain feels on target today, too.

Workout

Today’s workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before it was time to conquer a tough upper body workout.

I did three sets of 15 repetitions of the following (listed in random order):

  • Chest press on exercise ball
  • Mac raises
  • Upright rows
  • Tricep extensions
  • Bicep curls (3 min. non-stop)
  • Various shoulder exercises (3 min. non-stop)
  • Bicep curls
  • Tricep pulldowns

I rounded out my gym time with 100 various crunches on the ball plus two rounds of holding my body in the plank position for 60 seconds.

Burn baby, burn!

Breakfast

After a quick shower, it was time for a hot egg sandwich!

egg bagelwich 002

egg bagelwich 005

The usual = two eggs + muenster cheese + raspberry jelly

In honor of my annual visit to the women’s doctor (I tell you this to hopefully remind someone out there to make this important appointment!), I made today’s question about our favorite doctors…

Question of the Morning

Rank the following doctors in order of the one you would most like to see to the one you absolutely dread seeing the most:

    • Dentist
    • Gynecologist
    • Physician
    • Dermatologist

I would pick the dentist first because my dentist is awesome and I trust him 100 percent not to hurt me. Number two would be the dermatologist (I had an awesome experience with one doctor who called my butt my “fanny” and it still makes me laugh). Number three would be the gyno followed by a regular physician. I hate needles and am terrified of them and would worry that a regular physician would find some reason to stick me.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My order would be dentist, gyno, and regular. I’ve never gone to see a dermatologist, but I would hope that’s not too scary. I recently got my roommate to try the jam on the egg sandwich, and she loved it!

Number one is definitely the dentist, but maybe that’s because it’s my hubby and I know he’ll take care of me. 🙂 Plus I love how clean my teeth are after!

Number two would be dermatologist I guess, but I’ve only been there once and that was in college.

Number three would be lady doctor. Super nice and friend of the family but who really enjoys that visit?

Number four is physician. Needles and needing medication are never fun combos.

    1. Dentist – despite all my cavities, I LOVE the office!
    2. Physician – they don’t do too much to me
    3. Lady Doctor. HATE IT.

I’ve never been a dermatologist but I’m pretty sure it should rank higher than the lady doctor.

Hmmm…. I’d say first dentist (he’s my best friend from hs’s dad!), derm, lady doc and then physician.. But overall, doc appointments are no bueno.

My gyno would be number 1! She’s awesome haha 🙂 She’s a doctor you can just sit and talk to for hours and she won’t make you feel rushed at all. I had a weird pap smear once that turned out false and she really helped me calm down when another doctor made me flip poop pretty much.
Dentist is next! Just because they’re so nice 🙂
Physician next just because I RARELY go.
Than last is dermatologist because I’ve never been haha.

Dentist is by far my favorite! Maybe it’s because I still go to the kiddie dentist&i get to watch all the new disney movies while I wait for him to come check my teeth! I’ve never been to the gyno or the derm but I’d rank both of those above my physician, absolutely hate her. This post made me start to wonder when it was the last time i saw my dentist, maybe I’ll do that over xmas break 😉

ha what a question! this is tough considering no doctor’s appointment ever makes me super thrilled… my list would go like this:

    1) dentist – i’ve never really minded the dentist (unless i have a cavity, that is!)
    2) dermatologist – i don’t go to one anymore, but when i used to, it never bothered me. i actually looked forward to it so he could help me with my acne back then.
    3) physician – i rarely go to a regular physician…
    4) gyno – just not a fan of the pap smears and all that other “fun” stuff!

    2) Gyno- he’s very calm and reassuring and doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable
    3) Dentist- I take good care of my teeth so nothing to worry about!
    4) Physician- She makes me feel like I’m doing everything wrong!

    1. Dentist – I’ve never minded going to the dentist, even when I’ve had to get a filling

    2. Dermatologist

    3. GP/Physician – Needles/blood/shots don’t bother me (actually, I draw blood myself as part of my job – MLS – so it shouldn’t!)

    4. Gynecologist

My first choice would be: dentist
    then: physician
then: derma (I have never been to a dermatologist so I dunno what to expect!)
then: gyno – not really a fan!
I dont mind the dentist at all, my bf hates them though and says he would rather have to get surgery than go to the dentist haha

I am not scared of the other three, but the dentist is by far the last. As I have gotten older, (I’m 25) my fear of him grows more and more. I haven’t had any major problems or horrible experiences, and my dentist is actually my dad’s best friend who I have known since birth. I just can’t explain it but I dread it every six months and will make any excuse to delay it another week! Total irrational fear, and I have actually looked into sedation dentistry. People think I am crazy haha!

I agree! I hate the density so much that I got our entire family kicked out of the best dentist in town (my dad was not happy). My mom would make me an appointment, I would get the reminder phone call, and I would just not show up. By the fourth or fifth time, he refused to see anyone in our immediate family. I wish I could say I was sorry.

    B. Physician. I go to a rural doctor and she takes more of a wholistic approach making sure everything is working perfectly.
    C. Dentist. Who can complain about sparklin’ teeth?!
    D. Gyno- despise this place. OUCH.

Optometrist first and foremost! I LOVE the eye doctor. I used to want to study to become one.
Then physician – needles don’t bother me in the slightest!
The dermatologist isn’t so bad, though the last time I visited one I had to get a giant wart frozen off. Pretty painful.
The last ones on my list would be the gynecologist and dentist. I literally DREAD dentist appointments. The sound of that little drill makes me cringe and I swear I can feel the pain every time, even with the anesthetic. Then I start sweating like crazy and try not to have a meltdown.

    3) PCP
    *Never been to Derm

I’m really good about going to my dentist every 6 months. Despite a few issues, I still find cleanings relaxing. As for the other appointments, I’m amazing at putting them off. I lost insurance for a while then it kept changing with new jobs, so finding a new doc that I’m comfortable with as been a struggle. I will make that gyno appt. this week!

Physician – I go in every month to get my thyroid checked and it’s always quick and painless.

Dentist – Mine is actually gentle and awesome. Still not my favorite thing, but I kick back and pretend I’m at the spa getting a beauty treatment that isn’t pleasant but will make me look and feel better. (even though I’ve never actually been to a spa or had a beauty treatment before, lol)

Gynecologist – I’ve only been once (for the first time this year) and it was awful. But necessary.

I’m not going to include the dermatologist because I’ve never seen one.

I actually LOVE going to see doctors. I’ve pretty much had good or neutral experiences, and it’s a reassurance that nothing is terribly wrong.

And, I kind of think it’s a little silly to sit here and complain about doctors… many people don’t have health coverage, or don’t even have access to it… think about it… they would kill to be in our shoes.

Regular physician- My doctor is awesome! She is from Croatia and is a HOOT! Not only is she very talented in what she does but she is SO caring. She’s always running like 30 minutes behind schedule because she likes to talk to her patients about other things than what they are there for that day. Example: one of my best friends passed away and she sat there and cried with me after my exam was over. Some people may think that’s too personal, but she’s great.

Dermatologist- I sometimes have a tiny eczema flare up on my face, nothing serious, but I love getting free samples of face wash and moisturizer!

OB/GYN- It’s once a year, so I don’t think it’s that bad. The stirrups with funny socks always make me laugh.

Dentist- NAILS ON A CHALBOARD. It gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it.

I have a fear of doctors…a strong fear of anything medical. So physician rarely happens…if ever, I have to be in a lot (a lot!) of pain. Gyno has never happened, no undressing for me.

Of the last two, the dermatolist is the only I willing go to. I have a skin disorder and sadly have only found medication to help in any way. So I have to for prescriptions. Then the dentist, I dread going to mainly because they always find cavities no matter how much I floss and brush. Everyone at the dentist’s is nice and all but they just have it out for my teeth.

oh, julie, you come up with the craziest stuff. i’m still laughing about the sadie and gender post.

the dermatologist is least intrusive, so i’ll say that.

    don’t mind the physician either.

i do not mind the dentist. i love going to get my teeth cleaned. i have a few sensitive spots behind my lower front teeth, so sometimes that gets me a bit.

i do not like the gyno. i DO go every year, but it is very uncomfortable and um, exposing. this last summer, after a normal pap, i was told that it would be ‘good’ for 3 years. new recommendations, i guess? maybe it depends on age. i’m a good 10-15 years older than you. some things get better when you get old 🙂

and it’s totally not fun and almost yet more uncomfortable when you go the ob for those checkups every week toward the end of pregnancy.

I think that you should always find a doctor you love- if you don’t like the way they work, that’s not good for you OR for your body. Its like buying a wedding dress- a commitment to your wedding, a commitment to your health. You only get one body!
