Ranking Doctors

December 13, 2011 by Julie 113 Comments

Good morning! Despite a late morning annual appointment with the lady doctor, I’m hoping today will be a good and productive day.

With Christmas right around the corner, I’m trying to get a lot of my freelance projects that are due around the holidays completely done before Thursday of next week. So far I’m on course! Yesterday I was in the zone and my brain feels on target today, too.

Workout

Today’s workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before it was time to conquer a tough upper body workout.

I did three sets of 15 repetitions of the following (listed in random order):

  • Chest press on exercise ball
  • Mac raises
  • Upright rows
  • Tricep extensions
  • Bicep curls (3 min. non-stop)
  • Various shoulder exercises (3 min. non-stop)
  • Bicep curls
  • Tricep pulldowns

I rounded out my gym time with 100 various crunches on the ball plus two rounds of holding my body in the plank position for 60 seconds.

Burn baby, burn!

Breakfast

After a quick shower, it was time for a hot egg sandwich!

egg bagelwich 002

egg bagelwich 005

The usual = two eggs + muenster cheese + raspberry jelly

In honor of my annual visit to the women’s doctor (I tell you this to hopefully remind someone out there to make this important appointment!), I made today’s question about our favorite doctors…

Question of the Morning

Rank the following doctors in order of the one you would most like to see to the one you absolutely dread seeing the most:

    • Dentist
    • Gynecologist
    • Physician
    • Dermatologist

I would pick the dentist first because my dentist is awesome and I trust him 100 percent not to hurt me. Number two would be the dermatologist (I had an awesome experience with one doctor who called my butt my “fanny” and it still makes me laugh). Number three would be the gyno followed by a regular physician. I hate needles and am terrified of them and would worry that a regular physician would find some reason to stick me.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

i learned the sandwich combo from you and am eating right this second 🙂 but..how do you always make your eggs so nice looking?! I should win an award for the ugliest egg..it’s basically scrambled..

i spray the pan w/ cooking spray and let the eggs cook over a medium high heat until the sides start to become solid, then i flip them all at once! sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t! 🙂 i also used a very small pan so the eggs can’t spread very far.

Hmm…I actually don’t mind my physicians! My regular doctor is also my lady doctor and she is fabulous…so I guess she would be number one, and then my dentist. And I don’t have a dermatologist but I think I need to go to one because my back has been breaking out really bad :(. So not attractive! Good luck with all of your work!

    2. Gynocologist – he is pretty cool, we talk about traveling
    3. Dermatologist – don’t see one regularly
    4. Dentist – absolutely DREAD the dentist, i usually leave with a massive headache and i take medicine before i go to try and help

I talk about traveling with my gyno too! One time I saw him at a ski resort and couldn’t remember who he was. I told my whole family, “I can’t remember where I know that guy from, I’m gonna ask him, it’s bugging me” So I asked him in front of both our families… he said that he delivered babies for a living… then I remembered!

    Physician, Dentist, Dermatologist, Lady Doctor.

My number one would actually be the allergist (I see them once a week for shots) bc they help me a lot. I also like my podiatrist since I spent so much time in there with an achilles injury. He even started recommending books to me 🙂

Lady Doctor is always on the bottom for me because they play these scary pregnancy videos in the lobby which give me waaaaayyy too much information.

I have to agree with your order & I hate needles too. I used to be such a wimp that the smell of rubbing alcohol alone would make me pass out. Lame, I know.

I’m better at it now, but still need to watch…which still makes me pass out! God help me when I have kids!

I haaaaate the dentist. why do their tools need to be so friggin sharp!! On the other hand, I happen purposely try to become best friends with my dermatologist. You can pop in whenever, and they will hit you up with emergency cortisone shots or free lotion samples. It rocks.

I really don’t mind most doctors. I’ve usually had all positive experiences at my appointments. And maybe it helps that my mom works at a doctor’s office. With that said though, I usually put off dentist appointments as long as possible. My dentist is great, I just really hate going through those appointments! Oh, and you left another sometimes-dreaded doctor off the list – the eye doctor!

A good dentist is definitely the key to a pleasant visit. I’m trying to work hard in school so that people won’t hate me and will want to come back for a visit, lol.

The gyno to me is the worst!! I love my doctor, but hate that uncomfortable experience. And the waiting room with all the diagrams and pictures make me gag slightly. A great form of birth control is showing kids how your cervix expands. Gives me the shivers thinking about it

My lady doc appointment is next week! Always around Christmas time, I think from when I came home from college to get it done?? Oh well, my gyno is awesome and she’s hysterical. I’m making sure to go see her in NC while I’m there for Christmas because I don’t want to find another in NJ! Also, male gynos kind of freak me out, can I just say that? I don’t really get it. Anyways, I would say dentist is my least favorite of those appointments, I’m not scared of needles or anything like that so other doctors don’t bother me!

I don’t really mind going to any doctors. I actually love going to the dentist (I just love the way my teeth feel afterwards), so definately my number one pick. Next I would say my gynocologist, he’s really cool and really knows what he’s talking about (I used to think that male lady doctors couldn’t possibly understand lady stuff). Last is my regular physician but only because every time I go I have to wait at least 20 minutes in the lobby and then another 20 minutes in one of the rooms. I don’t see a dermatologist so I can’t comment on that on.

Dentist: I love the clean teeth feeling!!

Gyno: I feel better after I go; esp b/c I had an abnormal pap and for the last three years have had to have a few biopsy’s and laser procedures to get rid of pre-cancerous cells. Get your paps ladies!!!

You must have only been to the derm for very minor things because they use way more needles (and other scary things) way more than an average physician, I think! I had such a bad experience that I started crying as soon as I got to the parking lot. Waited forever, had 6 people come into my tiny room (and not to observe, it’s the way they do it) then the older doctor yelled at me, told me I probably had skin cancer, and then pinched me!

i hate to be nitpicky, but as a medical student, i always have to make these kinds of comments: both gynecologists and dermatologists ARE physicians. i just don’t want people to get confused about this! what you mean by “physician” is actually referred to as primary care or family practice. “physician” is simply a term meant to distinguish people who have doctorates in the study of medicine (MDs or DOs) from people who have their doctorates in other fields such as dentistry etc.

as for the question, i LOVE going to the dentist even though i’ve had quite a few cavities lately. well, i guess what i really love is going to the dental hygienist haha- i just love that clean feeling!

    2. Dentist: My dentist is a hilarious family friend – he even came to my wedding and gave me a very, very nice bottle of champagne when I graduated college

Lady Dr – I’m probably jinxing it but my appts there usually go quickly so I don’t mind them – I go on Thursday so we will see if I did jinx it!
Regular Dr – I don’t mind those appointments because they are few and far between
Dermatologist – mine is a little weird and it just makes the whole experience awkward. Not to mention the huge scar I have on my back from him removing a mole!
