Run In with The Bachelor’s Emily

January 31, 2012 by Julie 87 Comments

It feels rather nice to know that my life will be returning to normal today!

I allowed myself to sleep in this morning and catch up on some much-needed rest after my trip to New York City. I’m hoping to sneak in a lunchtime workout after I drive back to Ocala, but even though I skipped my morning workout, I made sure to return to my healthy habits when it came to selecting breakfast.

Last night I prepared a batch of blueberry overnight oats and baked some of my favorite homemade almond butter granola.

Sometimes a little forethought makes breakfast a breeze!

I am also nearly three quarters of the way through a pint of fresh blueberries that I started snacking on as I sat down at my computer. Apparently today is blueberry breakfast day!

Run-In with The Bachelor’s Emily

Those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook know about something a little crazy that happened to me yesterday.

This Bachelor-lovin’ girl just happened to be seated directly in front of Emily from this season’s Bachelor on my first flight from New York City to Charlotte, North Carolina where I had a layover!

emily bachelor

I was reading my new book and just happened to glance up as she was walking by and recognized her, but couldn’t place where I knew her from until after a minute or two when it hit me!

I turned around and said, “Excuse me, do you happen to be on The Bachelor this season?”

She smiled and laughed, saying that she was Emily.

Emily was extremely friendly, especially after I told her that I totally agreed with her about her feelings toward nut-job Courtney. She said that it was painful to watch last week’s episode when all the Courtney drama went down and I felt for her, especially since she was so laid back, smiley and normal in person.

Then the flight attendants went through their whole safety spiel and I didn’t bother her for the entire flight… but I couldn’t let my fellow Bachelor fans down and not talk to her a bit more after we landed. Puh-lease.

We actually ended up talking about her future plans (she isn’t after Hollywood fame and hopes to work in her field after she graduates with her PhD in epidemiology in April) and other random non-Bachelor related things and I left the plane telling her “good luck” with The Bachelor, if she really wants it since Ben is losing his luster for me this season.

Kind of crazy, huh?

My random run-in with Emily made it even more fun to watch last night’s episode, though I was so sad to see who went home. (I won’t write her name out here just in case any of you DVRed it and are waiting to watch.)

Time to hit the road. I can’t wait to be reunited with Ryan and Sadie!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That is so awesome about Emily- she is my favorite on the season so far. I loved her outing with Ben- I give her props I could NEVER walk on that bridge that high up- I would probably pass out..and then they would have to send me off to the hospital- haha!

I love your blog, but do you ever feel like “The Bachelor” is really degrading to women? I mean it’s however many women fighting on national television, in the most horrible light, competing for one man’s affection of which they will probably not get, and even if they do, the show has proven to be just a conduit for exposure (mostly unflattering) and not a way to lasting love. I really don’t want my daughter to ever want to aspire to that.

Again, I love your blog- a lot. I just don’t love the bachelor or shows similar (real housewives of any city, bad girls club, etc.) Especially when it’s a male driven show, men fighting one another is viewed as “boys being boys” and when we fight, not only does it set us back so far from where we’ve come, caving to stereotypes that women can’t be friends-but we are viewed as “nuts” or “bitches”.

That’s a big reason why I love our healthy living blog community-so many women lifting each other up!

i agree…the show is reinforcing culture’s gender stereotypes and overall cultural expectations of women. i HIGHLY recommend the book “Body Shots” – which encourages us all to watch the media and tv/movies with a more critical eye 🙂

Wow! If there was anyone to run into before last night’s episode, she’d be it. I’m so glad she was so friendly and normal. She seems like a genuine person on the show. Ben is definitely a bozo if he falls for Courtney’s tricks. She’s so manipulative…”I bet he’d love to go skinny dipping with a model…” gag.

That “skinny dipping model” quote made me laugh. REALLY? No respectable model would ever say that.

And this is only the second episode I’ve watched all year. But I think Emily is definitely gorgeous! Especially since Courtney only looks uglier and uglier every episode.

Well, off to make some of that delicious granola! Yummy!

That’s so crazy! She seemed like such a sweet girl on the show, and you’re right, not feeling Ben here either. But in other Bachelor run in news, about 2 months ago i was at a bar in Milwaukee (where I go to college) and ran into Kirk from Ali’s season and from the Bachelor pad!!! My friends and I paled around with him and his friends for awhile and he seemed like such a nice guy. We are both from the MidWest so we had a lot in common and our high schools are really close! Even though he’s a lot older than me, I was star-struck, but knew nothing would happen between us hahahaha. It was so fun to see someone from the show out in the “real world” just living their life…although, I pride myself on being the first person there to know it was him, but once other girls caught on it got crazy! I’m glad you got to meet someone from the show too. 🙂
