Seven Wants

May 27, 2014 by Julie 92 Comments

The 10 Day You Challenge continues!

10 Day You Challenge We are on challenge seven, which brings us to sharing “seven wants.” Since this topic is very broad and could go in a number of directions, I decided to create a sub-topic and make it “seven travel-related wants.” As you guys know, traveling is a passion of mine and, if given the opportunity and the means to so, something I hope to do a lot of throughout my lifetime. Here are seven travel-related activities I am dying to do at some point in my life!

I’d love to hear about some of your travel-related “wants” in the comments section of this post!

Seven (Travel-Related) Wants

  • Scuba Dive All Over the World

78435356

I love scuba diving! Exploring life under the sea and scuba diving all over the world is a big “want” of mine. It’s hard to imagine anything topping our experience of scuba diving with sea lions in the Galapagos (an experience that is in the top five best days of my life!), but some scuba diving destinations that have caught my eye include The Great Barrier Reef (obviously), Isla Mujeres or Richelieu Rock (to hopefully see whale sharks), Kauai, Palau and the Maldives.

  • See Whales in the Wild

wild killer whales

Another BIG want! One of my dreams is to see whales in the wild. I cannot even imagine what would go through my mind if I saw orcas or humpback whales in their natural habitat. Just the thought of it gives me chills!

  • Go On An African Safari

African Safari

It seems like a lot of my  travel desires center around seeing incredible animals in their natural environment and an African safari is a travel-related “want” that is at the very top of my list. The thought of seeing lions, elephants and giraffes in the wild absolutely blows my mind.

  • Go On A Romantic Island Vacation with Ryan

oceanhut

Our trip to Oahu, Hawaii is something Ryan and I still talk about regularly as one of our best vacations to date. I would love to explore another gorgeous island destination with Ryan. I’m not picky at all about where we go, I’d just love to fill our days with sunshine, scuba diving, seafood, relaxation and adventure. Some island destinations that have caught my eye: The Maldives (if you want to drool, check out The Only & Only Resorts), Tahiti and Fiji. And if we could stay in a hut over the ocean, I wouldn’t complain oooone bit!

  • Go On A Ski Trip with Friends

Skiing

This is something my friends and I have been talking about for years and I’m determined to make it happen one day! I think skiing with a group is ideal for me since I’ll want to ski but not ski all day every day. A winter wonderland vacation with friends where we can ski, snowmobile and relax in a big house together sounds amazing to me! My friends and I are also dying to do a tour of Europe together which I think would be incredible.

  • Explore National Parks

Banff National Park

I’m not picky at all about which national parks I see in what countries, but I want to see a bunch! Banff National Park in Canada (pictured above) looks absolutely breathtaking. Denali National Park, Bardia National Park, Kakadu National Park, Table Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park and many more are on my list! As exciting as cities may be, it’s the outdoors that truly call to me and the more and more research I do about national parks all over the world, the more and more I find myself dying to visit and explore a bunch throughout my life.

  • Go On A Bike Tour Vacation

bicycle tour

I’ve heard wonderful things about bicycle tour vacations and though I have no idea where I’d want to do one, I know it’s something that really intrigues me. It seems like such a neat way to explore a new location in an active and adventurous way!

Now it’s your turn…

Question of the Afternoon

  • What are some of your top travel-related “wants?”

I’ve listed a bunch of mine above, but it was really hard to limit my travel desires to seven bullet points. I am also dying to go on a road trip across the United States, explore many different countries (Greece, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland to name a few), hike all over the world, go white water rafting and more!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I would totally love to explore the National Parks hike all over go to Italy and go on at a island vacation with my honey. Also looking forward to traveling all over Europe in general and even going up to Canada and Alaska to check those areas out.I like the idea scuba diving but I am terrified of the ocean so that was kind of out for me. Haha!

You have a lot of the same travel wishes as me, which naturally means we should go together lol! I just told my mom yesterday that for my Honey Moon (in a few years 😉 ) I would love to go to Africa for a week long camping trip and then off to an island to dive. The Maldives are def on my list of must dive places!

All of your travel ‘wants’ have me drooling also! LOL! I LOVE traveling also and I don’t think I could narrow down 7 places or travel ‘wants’. Going ANYWHERE new to me is an adventure, but I’d absolutely LOVE to do an adventurous retreat with my puppies! That is the ONE thing I HATE about traveling is the amount that I miss my animals! I think an outdoor adventure to Wyoming or somewhere with my pupdoodles would be so fabulous. I’d make the trip about THEM! And do activities that were dog-friendly! 😉

My top travel destinations to see are Peru, Thailand, and without a doubt hiking to see the Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, in northwest Rwanda. My uncle had the opportunity to go a few years back and the photos and experience seem unbelievable!

If you’re coming to Boston soon (I think you said you’re running a race here?) you should go whale watching for sure! I go most summers, though later in the season, and always see humpbacks, and sometimes also smaller whales. I hope you get to see some soon!!

My number 1 is Antarctica, to see the penguins in their natural habitat, a place where not many humans go. I heard a while back that because they don’t see many humans they haven’t yet learned to be afraid of them. It’s a horrible sentiment about us as a species, but sadly it makes sense.

Also high on the list is an African Safari, i’m thinking maybe for my 40th birthday in 5+ years!

My travel hopes for the future are to visit the Greek Isles, the Galapagos Islands, do a spirit tour of western Europe (pubs and haunted places, natch), and an Alaskan cruise. Want want want!

I have a super recommendation for whale watching in Vancouver Island, Canada: http://oceanecoventures.com/. Ocean Ecoventures did an amazing job of taking us near the killer whales, while still showing great respect for them. They even reported some boaters who got too close to the whales while we were out on the tour. We stayedin a lovely B&B in nearby Chemainus (By the Beach, http://www.bythebeachbb.com/). The Loft Room has amazing sunrises!

I am from Canada and last September I hiked Banff National Park for the first time. Wow, words cannot describe how beautiful that place is.
There are a range of hikes — from beginners to expert trails — and I completed a 8 hour trek throughout all of Lake Louise in Banff. It was incredible….you stopped along tea huts to snack and fuel up, you are surrounded by mountains, rivers, trees, even hiked up to the glaciers…..
We went super early (7am) before a lot of people arrived and took the most beautiful photos!

Then once you are done with the hikes, you head back into the town of Banff and there are so many incredible “mom n’ pop” type restaurants that are to die for!!

If you want to learn more about the National Parks in the USA, you must watch the Ken Burns documentary on the topic! It is truly incredible. I believe it is available on Netflix to stream. My boyfriend and I are big outdoor enthusiasts and we really enjoyed watching this series and learning so much about the history and breadth of our country’s parks!

Wow, apparently we are very similar in vacation choices! I’ve pretty much done #2 through 7 and they were all fabulous! Some I things like bike tours I would repeat againg but in a different location and more park, yes please 🙂

This year I went with my bf to Tanzania for the trip of a lifetime: trekking up Mt. Kilimanjaro (we both made it to the summit!), a safari where we saw tons of animals and Zanzibar for snorkling and beach time. I would highly recomend going to Africa, there are so many amazing places to visit!

I would like to go to Italy for my 30th birthday … It’s been a dream of mine, as well as visit Australia to see Kangaroos. To mention one of your wants … when I was little we took an Alaskan cruise, and saw many humpback whales and killer whales in their natural habitats. It was one of the best vacations I taken (except of course the 1996 Olympics in Georgia when the USA girls won Gold with Kerri Strugg hopping around)

My travel wishlist is too long to list; but I, too, want to do one of those huts-over-the-water trips. I am over the moon, right now though, because just a week ago, we booked our flights to Australia. It is a dream destination of mine and I didn’t expect it to happen until years from now. Squeeee!!!

    Definitely share your passion!

My biggest travel-related ‘want’ is going to Europe with my husband. I lived in France for a little while and had a chance to explore other European countries, but my husband has never been and I want to share the experience with him!

You should try diving on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, It is absolutely gorgeous and exciting! The biodiversity is insane, and there are whale sharks swimming close by year round! I might love it more than diving the Great Barrier Reef…wellll…maybe not, but it’s still amazing.

You and Ryan should look on CheapCarribbean.com for some affordable vacation options! My family uses it all the time to book trips to places like Aruba (my fav!), Punta Cana, Jamaica, and Mexico. There are a ton of all inclusive options to help you save money on food and alcohol, and most of them include air fare as well!

Hawaii sounds like it would be total bliss! Definitely a bucket list kinda thing.
I’ve always wanted to go to the grand canyon or Yellowstone! If I had to choose a country though, it would most definitely be Australia – camping by Uluru, seeing the outback and searching for the best beaches in the world! But then again, some of the coolest places i’ve ever been to are those that I haven’t chosen myself. I wonder how many landscape gems exist that we don’t yet know about…? Happy Monday & have a great week!
