St. Patrick’s Day Running Gear

March 7, 2013 by Julie 1,283 Comments

Lunch today snuck up on me!

Before I knew it, my stomach was grumbling and I needed food!

Fact: This meal looks horrendous.

cauliflower sausage scramble

But lots of shredded cheese has a way of making me overlook an unattractive dish!

I began by sautéing a chopped chicken sausage in a skillet while I steamed some cauliflower in the microwave. I then added leftover roasted Brussels sprouts to the skillet, followed by the mashed steamed cauliflower and a boatload of shredded cheese.

Easy, satisfying, ugly and delicious!

March Book Club

With the majority of the votes, the winning book for the PBF March Book Club  is…

the fault in our stars john green

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. We’ll be discussing this book on the blog on Friday, April 5. I can’t wait to start reading!

Now let’s talk about St. Patrick’s Day running gear…

St. Patrick’s Day Running Gear

Are any of you out there planning to run in a St. Patrick’s Day race?

Ryan, my sister, my sister’s boyfriend and I will be running in a 10K on St. Patrick’s Day and ever since we signed up to participate, we’ve been sending each other costume ideas. You know we like to dress up for races together!

Here are some winners:

I saw a bunch of women wearing fun sparkly skirts over their leggings or compression shorts at the Women’s Half Marathon a few years ago and thought they looked awesome! (Bachelor fans, I think we know Tierra would be all about this one. Sparkle.)

  • BICBands Shamrock Headband

St. Patrick's Day Headbands

You guys know how obsessed I am with these headbands by now. When I saw the shamrock headband on their website, I just had to have it. A headband that doesn’t slip that’s also peppered with lots of little shamrocks!? Oh yes! (Get psyched because YOU have a chance to win a $40 BICBands gift card that you can use toward one at the end of this post!)

  • Target $1 Bin Finds

St. Patrick's Day Costume

Surely I’m not the only one out there who gets suckered into the Target $1 bins? I found a bunch of goodies in the $1 bins last weekend that I picked up for our upcoming race, including blinking bracelets, wigs, light-up rings and more. I was especially pumped about the neck ties!

  • Shamrock Suspenders

My st. patty memory would have to be when I was in the hospital with my nephew waiting for him to be born. I was my sisters coach since her husband couldnt be in the room (he said he would pass out). I spent the entire night with her helping her through the entire process, I watched my nephew be born even though he was born on the 18th it was still a st. patricks day I will never forget. What an amazing moment!

I’m Irish…I remember visiting my Aunt every year and watching a parade that went by her house with cousins. Of course, after that we stayed for a huge meal of cornbeef, cabbage, & soda bread. Love the BICBands!

My favorite st pats tradition is visiting a little Irish town nearby and participating in all of the fun st pats activities. Love going to the parade and bar hopping with friends and family. Usually the weather is getting warm here in the Midwest, so that makes it even better to go out and enjoy the beautiful day!

My favorite memory of a St. Patrick’s Day was when one of my daughter’s came home from school super excited that the leprechauns had visited her classroom and left a mess. She was SO excited and couldn’t wait for the next year to have them visit them again.

I love Bic Bands! My favorite St Patrick’s Day memory was in Buffalo, NY. I was visiting one of my best friends and we convinced one of her guy friends to come out drinking with us for St Patty’s Day. During the day they were disagreeing over the location of another bar, so I insisted the winner owed the loser dinner. My friend won, the guy cooked her dinner a week later…and the rest is history! They have now been married for 2 years!

My favorite St. Patricks Day memory is from 1st grade- my teacher was Irish and had us start to make leprechaun traps the week before the big day. When we came to school that morning there were green little footprints painted on the ramp, the portable, and even on the carpet in the room. The whole room was a mess- traps and chairs overturned and there were gold coins and glitter everywhere! I’ll never forget it.
