Farmer’s Market Fruit

August 19, 2013 by Julie 41 Comments

One of my favorite things about summer is the food… specifically the fruit.

peaches banana

Breakfast this morning centered around beautiful farmer’s market peaches.

Fruit called to me from the fridge, so I made myself a plate of sliced peaches and a sliced banana. I also had a cup of Greek yogurt topped with granola and a drizzle of honey.

After breakfast it was off to the gym for a workout and work!

Today’s workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical, followed by a functional training workout.

I completed two rounds of 45 seconds of the following exercises:

  • Wall sits
  • Leg lifts (right)
  • Leg lifts (left)
  • Burpees
  • Reverse crunches
  • Bicycle crunches
  • Crunches
  • Heismans
  • Stability ball hamstring curls
  • Bridges
  • Plank
  • Jumping jacks
  • Left side plank
  • Right side plank
  • Skaters
  • Bicep curls
  • Tricep extensions
  • Rows
  • Mountain climbers
  • Pushups
  • Spiderman planks

It was a pretty core-centric workout and my abs were burning at the end!

Lunch

After my workout it was time to work. I snacked my way through most of the day and by the time I made it home around 3 p.m., I was hungry for a real meal.

pasta chicken sausage spinach

I reheated last night’s dinner.

pasta chicken sausage

Lightly buttered pasta with chicken sausage and sautéed spinach filled me right up.

It was a good meal!

Now I’m off to the grocery store to shop for our food for the week. Have a great night!

Don’t you just loooove peach season?! I just bought some today and now I just want every season to be peach season. Luckily pumpkin season is just around the corner to help with my peach withdrawals 🙂

My favorite snack is definitely Greek yogurt with granola! I have it almost everyday. I agree, summer and fruits are the best. I don’t eat a whole lot of fruit-I am picky….but when the ones I love are in season it is great. I went blueberry picking yesterday!

I eat a lot of fruit. Like an alarming amount. Water doesn’t interest me, so fruit is just a compulsion.

That looks like a great workout! I’m always up for a good cardio and ab combo. Peaches from the farmer’s market are THE best. My family and I were lucky enough to stop by a roadside stand in Georgia on our way home from Florida, and we of course bought some fresh, juicy peaches. They were some of the best we had ever eaten!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves Summer ten times more because of fresh fruit. Adding it to breakfast foods, snacks, lunch, dinner, etc all makes me just feel happier. I absolutely loved this post, I feel like fruit gets a bad rap sometimes because of the natural sugars!
