The Smell of Sadie

May 3, 2012 by Julie 139 Comments

I bet that blog post title made you think I’ll be talking about some rank smell omitted by the lovely Sadie this morning.

In reality, I’ll be discussing just the opposite.

smell glorious

Really though, she does.

And she’s an expert poser, in case you haven’t noticed. She’s not above nudity.

I know this may sound asinine to many of you out there, but Sadie’s smell is one of my all-time favorite things in the entire world.

sadie 034

Vizslas, as a breed, are highly recommended to those who want a (crazy) dog that doesn’t omit “that doggy smell.” Their coat is very low maintenance and the only time Sadie smells like a stinky dog is after a day at the beach.

sadie 030

(She was cracking me up this morning with those facials!)

Sadie’s coat smells like a mix of comfort, love and home. I breathe her in before bed and in the morning and her smell, coupled with her overzealous cuddling, relaxes me and puts me at ease. It grounds me and forces me to be in the moment and soak up her love.

And if I decide not to be in the moment and love her back, this happens…

sadie 045

Every time. This dog seriously loves to be chest-to-chest and face-to-face.

Needy?

I think so.

Breakfast

After annoying Sadie with my camera this morning, I headed into the kitchen to make breakfast.

Ryan and I slept in until 6:30 a.m. and I plan to use my normal walk time with Sadie to go for a run for today’s workout. The extra 90 minutes of sleep were much appreciated.

breakfast

My morning meal included another egg, cheese and jelly sandwich, served with a side of tiramisu coffee from The Fresh Market.

egg sandwich

coffee

The tiramisu coffee flavor was a winner. Of the coffee samples my mom gave me last weekend, so far my favorite is the crème brulee, but the tiramisu is gunning for second place.

Time to take Sadie for a run before it gets too hot outside.

Hope your day is full of good-smelling things!

Question of the Morning

  • Do you love the smell of anything unusual?
  • Do you enjoy the smell of your pet?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

LOL, sadly I don’t have a pet but I DO enjoy the smell of flavoured coffee! I don’t drink coffee at all any more (I never actually really liked the taste but made myself drink it out of desperation when I was in uni and needed to stay awake and study), but all of these yummy flavours kinda make me crave it again!

Awww, I love this! I am totally a smell person. From my cat’s soft fur to my boyfriend’s manly skin scent (when he’s not running!), a familiar smell can mean home to me so much more than just sitting on my couch.

In my theatre classes at university, we often used smells as a way to start off improv scenes- for example, smelling a tube of Chapstick, or a cup of coffee beans, and then making up scenes with the first memory that the scent called up.

This is going to sound totally crazy, but just go w/ it for a minute. Have you ever smelled Sadie’s feet? I first did this when I lived at home w/ my parents…their dog’s feet smelled like crackers. And now I always smell dog’s feet (only dogs I know, ha) – and it’s always crackers!

If you think I’m more than nuts, just ignore this.

That’s good to know that vizslas don’t have that doggy smell! My family has always had little hypoallergenic dogs that don’t shed so they never smell. But, when Chris and I eventually get a dog I have a feeling he’ll want a bigger one, and a vizsla sounds like a perfect option :). Haha and my dog at home totally likes to spread her legs for the world- and it’s even funnier because her hair is a bit red down there so she displays her fire crotch haha. Hope you have a great day Julie!!
