Two Years

October 30, 2012 by Julie 91 Comments

I remember taking a family cruise to the Bahamas over Christmas break when I was a sophomore in college. My sister and I were seated behind my parents in an open-air van and I let my body give in to the bumps of the ride as my head bounced around from sleepiness.

A bump that must’ve been more like a pothole knocked the drowsiness out of me and I stared ahead at my parents. My dad was teasing my mom. She was laughing and rolling her eyes at him.

I remember thinking about my mom and dad not as my parents then, but as a couple. They got married in 1977 and from that day forward – through trying times and happy times – they’ve spent nearly every day with their best friend. As I watched them through my heavy eyes, I told myself I wanted to do that. I wanted to marry my best friend one day.

Two years ago, I married Ryan.

Breakfast

It was back to basics for breakfast this morning with eggs and toast!

eggs with cinnamon raisin toast

scrambled eggs and buttered toast

As you can see, my love for cinnamon raisin toast continues to thrive!

Question of the Morning

  • What is your favorite part of a wedding?

As much as I love dancing my face off at the reception, my answer is – without a doubt – the ceremony. I love it when the ceremony reflects the couples’ personalities and their relationship. The vows always give me goosebumps!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My favorite part is at the beginning of the ceremony when the groom first lays eyes on the bride…so cute!

I have never been to an American wedding (I have my first one in Michigan next month!!) but in English ceremonies I just love the traditional readings from the priest during the ceremony and vows. It highlights that a marriage is so much more than the wedding day; it’s the end of ‘ME’ and the beginning of ‘US’, I love it! Jx

Happy Anniversary! I love it when couples are happy and in love. It sounds so simple, but I know so many people who are in unhappy relationships. You two and your parents are lucky!

Congrats on your 2 years, you both seem so happy! I recently got married in June and after the wedding was over myself, my husband, and our entire bridal party jumped into the museum fountain. A memory so unique and unforgettable!

I haven’t seen many weddings. But in the few that I have seen, my favorite part is when everyone sees the bride for the first time. The slight gasp of all the people in attendance, the way that the groom can’t take his eyes off of her, and the big smile on her face. It’s a little moment of magic.

    Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! This was such a sweet post! Josh and I’s 2 year dating anniversary is coming up in a few weeks and I’m so excited to get to celebrate it with him. It’s the last time we’ll really get to celebrate our dating anniversary before it’s replaced by our wedding next summer.

awwww so sweet! Yes, I agree that the ceremony is the best! The food and all is great, but there’s something so special about the service, the couple gazing into each other’s eyes, and the whole feel of it all!

The ceremony is my favorite part as well; I just love seeing the abundance of love that is present with the couple as well as the families and friends. On May 25th I get to marry my best friend of nine years, and I could not be more excited 🙂

My most favorite moment is the ceremony, too! I love watching the bride walk down the aisle and love love love seeing the expression of the groom as the bride walks down the aisle! I always turn to watch how his expression changes. I also like when I catch them glancing at each other from afar during the reception and throughout dinner. I love it when people are in love!
