25 Minute Treadmill Walking Workout

After staring at my computer screen all morning, I started to feel rather sluggish. My favorite furry coworker wasn’t exactly bringing her A game to the table to make me feel more energetic…

I didn’t want to workout at all but knew I’d feel 10 times better – both mentally and physically – if I worked up a sweat.

As always, exercise proved to be an instant mood booster and I left the gym after a lunchtime workout feeling much more motivated to tackle my to-do list for the day. Exercise is energizing!

Today’s workout focused on incline walking.

Treadmill Walking Workout

Walking is no joke and this workout definitely made me sweat. I followed it up with 20 minutes on the elliptical before calling it a day.

Lunch

You’re never too old for peanut butter and jelly, right?

peanut butter and jelly on ezekiel bread

I made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on toasted Ezekiel bread for lunch today. Sides included sugar snap peas, a clementine and Terra chips.

PB & J Lunch

Simple but satisfying!

Off to study!

Comments

  1. Incline walking is NO joke, for sure!! I love Terra chips–I have some super crunchy sweet potato ones that I’ve been loving on. So yumm.

    Have fun studying!

  2. Oh Sadie looks so comfy and cute! And you never regret a workout! :) Or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. lol.

  3. Treadmill walking can make me more sore than a run!! I always feel better after a workout. Maybe that’s why I’m in an afternoon slump. I hate afternoon practices!

  4. Jackie says:

What is Ezekiel Bread like? I have seen it in the grocery store refrigerated. What is more beneficial than regular old wheat? :)

  5. Aww, Sadie is too adorable. I love peanut butter and jelly! I don’t think you are ever too old for a pb&j sandwich. It’s a classic :) Those terra chips are yummy too!

  6. Carli says:

Never to ild for PB&J. I didn’t want to workput before work either so did 15 minute Tabata workout. A good sweat and not that much time. It does help to keep moving!

  7. Victoria says:

Sadie looks just like I felt this morning. Isn’t it funny how a good workout can make even the most sluggish day 100 times more productive? Well good luck on your studying, that’s what I’m off to do too!

  8. I’ve been on the lookout for some new treadmill walking workouts thanks to the frigid temps we’ve been having here in SLC, so this is perfect! Walking has been my exercise of choice most of my pregnancy, and you’re right, it can be no joke if you add in some speed and incline!

  9. Incline walking is killer!! I wish my dog was that peaceful today, I just came home to a jacket with a fresh new hole in it and my earbuds eaten, oh the joys of having a puppy!

  10. Ashlee says:

No way! Never too old for a PB&J! ;-)

  11. I agree that if you walk inclines and at different speeds, your shins, glutes, everything will slowwwly begin to burn~! I always feel so refreshed after working out, especially if I wasn’t sure if I should work out.

  12. Getting a sweat on is always a great way to get some energy. Walking is my main form of exercise right now, and no one ever seems to believe me when I tell them how good of a workout it can be. Add some inclines, though, and it can really tire you out!

  13. Alison says:

Ezekiel bread is the best! I especially like their English muffins…they are amazing with soy burgers! Way to exercise for energy + endorphins!

  14. I really want a PB and J now. It’s cold and blah outside today and I don’t feel like working out at all. :/ Little one takes a nap in 10 minutes so I need to get my butt motivated.

  15. I love incline walking and a good old PBJ sandwich!

  16. I’m feeling sooo sluggish and run down today. No gym access today and I need my running high!! -20 outside run here I go… :(

  17. Laura says:

I had a question about incline walking on a treadmill. I’ve heard mixed reviews about holding on to the top of the treadmill when walking at an incline. I’ve heard it makes it easier/you don’t get as good of a workout. Do you hold on?

  18. Working out is such a mood booster! When I feel sluggish after a long day at the office and am not in the mood to workout, I try to remind myself of what will happen if I don’t. Most likely, I’ll park my butt on the couch the rest of the night and get nothing done. But if I workout, even for a short time, I’ll have energy to get everything done that I want to do. And still plenty of time to relax afterwards. So worth it!

  19. Kelsie says:

peanut butter, peas, and an “orange” – all great running foods!

check out my blog post today about great food for runners: http://runningathousandmiles.blogspot.com/

  20. Nicole says:

LOVE PB&J . And when you want one, nothing else will do.

    The Kidless Kronicles

  21. I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning going to the gym, but I know my day started off to a much better start since I went. Incline walking is such a challenge, but I love the burn. You can never go wrong with PB & J either!

  22. I love PB & J! Oddly enough, I never ate it as a kid. I was just straight peanut butter, but now I love it with jelly!

  23. I’ve grown to be a BIG fan of incline walking! And you’re right- pb&j are always delish.

  24. PB&J is my ultimate go-to lunch when I have no idea what to make! My dog does the same thing too, and what makes it worse is he has long, warm fur (golden retriever) that makes it even harder to get up and move around- I just want to sit and snuggle with him!

  25. I love incline walking. It’s a nice break from running and, as you said, it’s still a challenging workout!

  26. Lisa says:

Walking workouts are my kind of treadmill workouts. I for some reason can’t stand running on the treadmill, I find it much harder than outside. I guess that’s kind of odd.

  27. I LOVE pb and j’s. Only if they are cut in half though, I’m weird :)

  28. Lindsay says:

    PBJ never, ever gets old!

  29. Walking on inclines is harder than running in my book! Even with my long legs!

  30. Allie says:

That lunch looks amazing! Talk about the best classic comfort food growing up. I’m coming over right now for a plate!

  31. Amy says:

How cute is Sadie?! I want to come snuggle her right now. Good luck with studying!!

  32. PB&J… That makes my stomach happy on the inside. When I workout for a mood boost I tend to call it my Sanity Run. Are you preparing to climb Mount Everest now though? Those inclines are no joke ;)

  33. Whoa girl, incline is serious stuff. I will forever be in love with pb&j! I’m a five year old that way :)

  34. Andrea says:

your lunch looks so good! sometimes the simplest meals are the most delicious :) and I agree, walking is such a great workout, I’ve been incline walking for awhile and it definitely works up a good sweat!

  35. I really want a pb&j sandwich now!

  36. incline walking is one of my fav workouts! i usually leave the incline the same though – i’m going to try this!!

  37. Leah says:

Weird Sadie question…. does she shed? I’ve seen you write that her breed is good for people with allergies but I don’t remember anything about if she sheds. If so, is it alot??

  38. I like walking workouts :)

  39. I had this same lunch today, except honey instead of jelly! You’re definitely never too old for pb & j :)

  40. Traci says:

That workout was no joke! I tried it myself and it really worked up a sweat. Thanks for sharing!

  41. Nothing beats a simple pb&j sandwich! My favorite is made with my mom’s homemade raspberry jam!

  42. kerr says:

This could not have come at a better time, now I know what I am doimg for my workout tonight!

  43. Haley says:

How good are snap peas? I just recently bought a bag.. and poof, they were gone!

  44. Makenzie says:

Haha NEVER to old for a PB and J! When I worked in a kindergarten class I started eating them because the kids looked so good. But sometime you should try a wheat tortilla with fresh raspberries or apples and PB…kind of a grown up PB and J :)

  45. Rachel says:

Terra chips are my absolute favorite! So yummy!

  46. Doot de dooo..off to Fresh Market to buy peanut butter..

  47. Molly says:

Crazy! I just did one. Of your incline waing workouts this morning before work! I love em b/c running isn’t my best friend :)

  48. Maggie says:

PB and jelly always hits the spot! Yummm.

  49. There must be something in the air today because that is totally how I felt before I worked out. PB&J sounds amazing and I think I’m going to go pull out the ol’ Ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread and make one myself!

  50. Audrey Adams says:

Never had Terra chips before! I’ll look out for them next time I stop by the store! They look yummy! I love almond butter and jelly sandwiches more than the regular PB&J
