Curried Tuna Salad

July 14, 2014 by Julie 44 Comments

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

It feels like the surface of the sun in Charlotte today. And that is coming from a former Florida girl. I thought I left 95-degree weather behind! By the time lunchtime rolled around today there was no way anything other than a cold meal would work. The idea of simply microwaving anything let alone turning on the oven sounded hot, sweaty and just plain unappealing. Cold curried tuna salad sounded perfect!

Curried Tuna Salad

I’ve been a fan of tuna salad for years. The tuna salad sandwiches I would pack for lunch as a kid would always gross out my friend Michaela (she’d call them “kitty chow”), but a little tuna ridicule couldn’t sway me away from my favorite sandwich.

To this day, tuna salad is still one of my favorite midday meals, but now I try to get a little more creative with it and typically don’t measure anything when I whip it up. Well, last week, I made a version of tuna salad with curry that was so darn delicious that I figured I would measure everything out today so I could share it with you guys.

I am actually not a huge tuna fan! Something about meat from a can weirds me out- however this looks delicious and I think would be so good with grilled chicken also!

Tuna or chicken salad yes…. egg salad ewww NO! My husband loves egg salad and even though I LOVE eggs I find egg salad repulsive…weird right?

I went through a phase of eating way too much tuna, so now I can only eat it once in awhile. My favorite of the three is probably chicken salad.

Haha kitty chow! Every once in a while I’ll crave chicken or tuna salad. I use to work at a coffee shop that also put curry in their tuna salad along with sliced up canned pears- sounds kind of weird, but it was so good!

Sounds delicious! I’ve been on a tuna/chicken/egg salad kick lately since it’s been so hot here in AZ too. The various salads are cool & refreshing, don’t heat up the house, and taste delicious on a sandwich, on their own, or on top of a bed of greens. Needless to say, they’re perfect for hot summer days. Definitely going to have to try this version of tuna salad!

Ooh yes big tuna salad fan over here! I make a very similar version that also contains greek yogurt and curry powder, along with some chili powder and a little bit of mango chutney for a spicy-sweet flavour. Like you, I loved tuna as a kid but some of my friends did not! Why is it that some of the best things like tuna and egg salad have to have such strong smells!? 🙂

I’m all about the curried tuna salads. I also like curried egg salad. Both may smell a bit I love em’. My new favorite is using baked sweet potato mashed in my tuna salad. It’s so good.

I am not a fan of any of those salads, although I do know what you mean with eating something cold on a hot day.. Sometimes you just need something refreshing! I usually make myself a wrap. I may have to try this though with chicken.

I love tuna salad, but have never tried with curry. I usually stick with my usual recipe, as I put pickles in it and I love pickles, but perhaps your pictures can convince me to try this one. 🙂

I LOVE tuna salad! I made some myself just the other day and I love using plain greek yogurt rather than mayo! (mayo doesn’t always sit well with me) I’ll have to try this recipe out! I felt the same way today, Arkansas is H-O-T so every meal I’ve had today has been something cold!

Every now and then I can do tuna, but not often as I hate how the smell lingers! The taste is good though! I do dig chicken salad and have a great recipe for curry chicken salad that I use often. So good! My husband eat a lot of tuna and loves curry so I will definitely have to try making this for him!

This looks SO good! Reminds me of a chicken salad I’ve made before with curry and cream cheese (I know, but it works!), cranberries, walnuts, celery, red onion, and a few other goodies. Definitely a salad that keeps me full and makes me want seconds. 🙂
