Return to Tas-T-O’s

January 22, 2012 by Julie 44 Comments

This morning started out with a beautiful walk around the neighborhood with Sadie. Though our walk wasn’t more than a mile and a half, it took us longer to complete than I figured it would and when we got home I had to quickly change so we could run out the door to make it to the 9 a.m. church service that’s a good 25 minutes away.

This meant eating my oatmeal in the car!

This bowl of oats totally hit the spot! It included oatmeal, a scoop of chocolate protein power, chocolate almond milk, cocoa power and pumpkin. It was a thick, chocolaty bowl of hot cereal that warmed me right up!

After church, we stopped at the grocery store and a local hot-spot.

Tas-T-O’s Doughnuts!

It’s been a few months since we’ve visited Tas-T-O’s and when we drove by and saw apple fritters in the window, Ryan turned the car around and we found ourselves placing an order.

Two apple fritters, please!

I honestly think apple fritters are one of my all-time favorite foods. This is a new realization I’ve come to upon moving to Ocala and eating the apple fritters at Tas-T-O’s, but they really are so, so delicious. Perfectly doughy and sweet with a touch of cinnamon. Plus, I love the way they pull apart. It reminds me of monkey bread!

We’re not exactly sure what the plans are for today, but we may be hitting up a local theme park for some glass-bottom boat rides.

I also want to get in some reading. I finally started this month’s book club selection yesterday and got about 50 pages in and want to keep going. I’m already intrigued!

Happy Sunday!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Glass bottom boats! Wow what a flashback! I loved going there with my family. I was always creeped out, but in a good way, by the old movie set that was underwater with statues and stuff there. I think it was suppose to be the lost city of Atlantis or something. Have fun!

I am about 25 percent finished “The Night Circus”…I think it’s great so far. I’m glad it was chosen since I had wanted to read it for so long anyways. I think I can probably finish it in a couple days since I don’t have any plans today besides laundry and housework:)

Oh my goodness. I just told my sister in law a story of me and my sister getting up early one morning and riding our bikes to Tas-T-O’sI. I love that place and so glad it is still rocking the donuts and fritters. One of Ocala’s finest spots.

I’ve been reading When She Woke and it sounds like it might make a good book club selection. Or really just a good book to read in general, it’s a major page-turner.

    From Amazon:

Hannah Payne’s life has been devoted to church and family. But after she’s convicted of murder, she awakens in a new body to a nightmarish new life. She finds herself lying on a table in a bare room, covered only by a paper gown, with cameras broadcasting her every move to millions at home, for whom observing new Chromes–criminals whose skin color has been genetically altered to match the class of their crime–is a sinister form of entertainment. Hannah is a Red for the crime of murder. The victim, says the State of Texas, was her unborn child, and Hannah is determined to protect the identity of the father, a public figure with whom she shared a fierce and forbidden love.

I love how you’re so much of a “I’ll have my cake and eat it too” when it comes to eatin yummy things. You’re already obviously a healthy weight and size for your body. The thing that upsets me most is that people feel as though they can’t have “unhealthy” foods at all except for “special days”. You prove that wrong by just following mindful eating which I’m all about 🙂 Thank you!

Oh my word, those fritters look good. At Panera, they have similar-looking treats that I think they call “Bear Claws” that I’ve been wanting to try. Sweet mother of baked goods, I want one!

On a side note, I can’t wait for your NEXT monthly book vote because I definitely nominate my favorite book of all time, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Definitely different from what you’ve been reading lately, but a beautiful story based on women in the biblical times. You’d love it!
