A Peanut Butter Holiday

January 24, 2012 by Julie 54 Comments

Today’s lunch was a long-lost noodle bowl!

noodles with broccoli and marinara 001

It has been a while since I had one of my favorite veggie-packed noodle bowls for lunch and today I got a craving.

My craving actually wasn’t for pasta, but for more marinara sauce. Apparently last night’s dinner left me wanting more marinara.

Craving satisfied!

National Peanut Butter Day

Thank you to a bunch of you for letting me know that today is a holiday!

Happy National Peanut Butter Day!

You know we have to celebrate this special day on the blog.

For my fellow peanut butter fanatics, here are some of my all-time favorite peanut butter recipes:

  • Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies (These can be easily shaped! Perfect for Valentine’s Day!)

peanut butter cookies

  • Peanut Butter Granola (Healthy and so, so simple!)

peanut butter granola

  • Pumpkin Peanut Butter French Toast

  • Apple, Peanut Butter and Granola Sandwich
  • Peanut Butter-Stuffed French Toast
  • High Protein Peanut Butter Bars (PBF’s most popular recipe of 2011!)

  • Cinnamon Peanut Butter Roasted Chickpeas
  • Peanut Butter Energy Bites

Thankfully I assembled the bottom portion of this blog post after lunch, otherwise I’m fairly certain I would’ve found myself eating peanut butter cookies as my midday meal.

And on that note, I’m off to eat a spoonful of peanut butter and keep on truckin’ through the rest of my work day.

THat pasta bowl looks awesome! I love me some marinara!! Have fun licking those fingers — I unfortunately don’t do PB….I am an almond butter gal through and through.

But your recipes look like I could switch ’em up with AB!

Julie, are those carba-nada noodles? How does the taste compare to regular pasta in your opinion?

yes! i love them! i actually prefer them to regular noodles, but use them sparingly since i cannot find them near me and have to order them online. they have 12g protein per serving, too! 🙂 honestly, they taste very similar to regular pasta to me. literally every single person i’ve known who has tried them has great things to say!

Sorry to butt in, but can I ask where you order those? I’m interested in trying them! I’m guessing they keep you full longer than regular pasta since they have extra protein? I am a pasta fiend, but it always leaves me starving within 2 hours!

Sorry, I am butting in too! I make my own egg noodles at home with 1/2 cup whole wheat flour and 1 whole egg (just roll it out, cut into thin strips, and boil for one minute) and they are 270 calories with 16g protein. Not sure how that stacks up against the carba-nada noodles, but an additional option for when you don’t feel like ordering them or spending the money 🙂

My favourite peanut butter recipe has got to be Tosca Reno’s no bake nut butter bars, from her Eat Clean Cookbook. They’ve got pb, coconut oil, oats, dried cherries, agave, and chopped nuts. And. They. Are. Awesome.

I always crave marinara sauce! In fact, I was earlier while working out. The last 1/2 hour of my bike ride all I wanted was the left over spaghetti that was in our fridge. Came home and the boyfriend had just finished it off. it was so sad.

As odd as it sounds, I get marinara cravings too. A pasta dish, gooey pizza, or even little English muffin pizzas usually do the trick.

    Happy PB Day!

I love peanut butter! Especially the crunchy kind! I made a recipe a while ago of what I call Peanut Butter Power Bites. In a way it’s like granola but a bit softer. I’ll have to put the recipe up on my blog! I made it when I realized I needed to snack more throughout the day to keep my energy up. They are perfect when you feel like your dragging!

i haven’t committed to the change yet – i’ve honestly just been innundated with a lot of freelance work (which is great!) and after writing all day i felt like i didn’t have time to pour effort into dinner posts and don’t want to throw up something on the blog that is just “meh.” it’s not an official change or anything – it will likely depend on my freelance workload.
