Back from the Beach

July 16, 2012 by Julie 66 Comments

Good Monday morning! It is a good one, right?

Mondays have never bothered me as much as Tuesdays. I feel like Mondays pass by in a blur and Tuesdays draaag. So tomorrow is gonna be horrible, but today should be great. Good news!!

I hope all of you had wonderful weekend. In case you are like me and tend to not read blogs much on the weekends, I headed to Jacksonville for a weekend at the beach with Ryan, my sister and her boyfriend.

Pictures-001

It was a laid back weekend, but one of the best weekends of the summer so far thanks to a perfectly sunny day at the beach on Saturday and good times with some of my favorite peoples in the world. I want to go back!

Workout

Today’s workout was rather sluggish. I slept like a rock last night after two nights of less-than-stellar sleep this weekend. Had it not been for Ryan getting up and getting dressed for the gym at 5 a.m., I definitely would’ve kept sleeping.

Even a sluggish workout has a way of making me feel more energized and I left the gym wide awake and ready to tackle the day.

My workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before I completed a leg workout that included the following exercises:

  • Squats
  • Deadlifts
  • Step ups
  • Lunges
  • Hamstring ball curls

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning included scrambled eggs with broccoli, onion and shredded mozzarella cheese, served with a toasted whole wheat English muffin.

eggs broccoli onioneggs onion broccoli

Rather basic, but rather tasty, too!

Question of the Morning

Just for fun…

  • What was the best thing you ate all weekend?

I’d have to go with the cannoli dessert I shared on Saturday night. Something sweet will almost always win top prize for this girl.

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Looked like an awesome weekend. Since I’m currently battling through morning sickness during my first trimester, the best thing I ate (and actually made me feel better) was a big soft pretzel. Sad but true….i’m sure I’ll have better things in the weeks/months to come.

    Happy Monday:)

I miss the beach! So jealous! My favorite thing I ate this weekend is a tie. Chocolate chip cookies baked into brownies and homemade peach cobbler with a side of caramel ice cream! So yummy!

This is always a tough question…for me, I’d say the bag of assorted chocolates I got while I was in Toronto today and have been picking at incessantly. 🙂

I attempted to make the protein pancakes. Instead of protein powder, I used a big scoop (maybe 2 T.) peanut butter. Other than that, I am sure I followed the directions. However, they came out really dense. Is that how yours usually are? Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is maybe I used to many oats or the type of cottage cheese I used was too thick and dry?

We had a perfectly yummy dinner of grilled shrimp and scallops at Bonefish Grill. The best part was using $75.00 in gift certificates my husband won at work…..on aside note, I discovered my new fav. Martini. I love the “Hypnotic MANGO ” So tasty!!!

Haha, I love how you’re all ‘ tomorrow is gonna be horrible, but today should be great’. Well it’s a Tuesday in Australia at the moment and it’s flying by- hopefully that is the same for you 😉

Oh and I love how you can maintain your usual workouts wherever you are- that’s the only problem with group fitness classes. I am Queen Group Fitness but when I go somewhere and am unable to do them I am an amateur haha- thankgod though for your blog and workout ideas!
