Whipped Cream Monday

November 4, 2013 by Julie 54 Comments

Whipped cream on a Monday morning!

whipped cream coffee

Because I think we could all use a little somethin’ special to get our week started!

Side note: Don’t you think whipped cream flavored coffee would be amazing? Someone should get on that if they haven’t already.

Weekend

How was your weekend?

Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary in Orlando on Saturday!

IMG_0572

(The shirt he is wearing was one of his anniversary presents from me. Lookin’ good!)

It was a dreary day, but that made it the perfect day to see an afternoon musical and enjoy a cozy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.

grilled artichokes hillstone winter park

If you ever make your way out to Hillstone (formerly Houston’s) in Winter Park, you must order the grilled artichoke appetizer to share. It’s unbelievable and Ryan and I couldn’t get enough!

Sunday was very relaxed in the Fagan household. We took Sadie on a hike after church and spent most of the day completing various errands and chores.

She looks truly pathetic in that picture. What a goof.

Workout

This morning waking up at 5 a.m. was a little easier than usual thanks to the time change. Although I know I won’t love the time change later this evening when it is dark outside earlier than usual, driving home from the gym with the sun shining was a treat!

I took a 45-minute 5:15 a.m. spinning class (and ran into my sweet friend Emily) and followed it up with the 7 minute workout while I waited for Ryan to finish his time in the weight room.

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was a batch of overnight oats!

Plus a mug of s’mores cofffee topped with whipped cream!

Hot ‘n’ delicious!

Enjoy your Monday, my friends!

Whipped cream coffee would be fantastic! Don’t you love Archer Farms coffees. I have hot buttered rum which is super, and a coconut macaroon which I have not yet opened. I love that Sadie dog 🙂

Do you eat anything before your morning workouts? What do you suggest if you workout before breakfast and need fuel for your workout?

Hi Arielle! It depends. I cramp up easily so I usually need to eat about 60 min. before a workout and since I don’t want to wake up at 4 a.m. just to eat, I will often workout on an empty stomach or just eat a big scoop of peanut butter or a small banana for a workout – something light. On weekends or days when I work out after 7 a.m., I always eat something right after I wake up and before my workout.

After hearing so much about s’mores coffee from you and other people I know, I bought a bag at TJ Maxx and am drinking it in my office right now. So good! I’ll definitely buy this again. Makes me wonder about all the other awesome flavors out there I’ve been missing out on!

What kind of creamer do you put in that coffee!? I want to try a different flavor of coffee (I love pumpkin spice but it’s starting to get old) but I don’t know what flavor of creamer to use with it! I have mocha coffee that tastes horrible with vanilla creamer…

I just use vanilla almond milk! I’ll use fancy creamers at friends’ houses or at my parents’ house from time to time but we don’t usually buy any unless I have a random craving for it. Whipped cream is a great “creamer!” 😀

Thank you!! I curled it using a curling iron but didn’t use the clamp so it was more of a curling wand. And I left a little bit of the ends out so it wasn’t too structured! 🙂

Perfect way to start Monday!! I started my Monday at 5:30 am (about an hour earlier than I usually get up) because the baby hasn’t quite caught on to day light savings time yet!! And while it is nice that it is light out in the morning – I would much rather have it be light in the evening – the sun going down at 5pm just isn’t cool!

Whipped cream makes everything better! Growing up, my brother and I took turns squirting it into our mouths until the whole bottle was gone. Ha, now I enjoy a more reasonable amount. I think it tastes the best on a mug of hot cocoa. Yum!

If you ever go to Starbucks and want a yummy whip cream espresso drink you can get an espresso con panna (affogato- make sure to say affogato so the shot goes on top of the, I feel like it flavors more of the whip cream and makes it sooo much yummier). I usually get a tall in a grande cup for extra whip cream but keeps it down to one shot, because, well I like to go over board on the whipped cream. Plus I don’t do it that often so I feel entitled to a splurge…. but enough of the justification, give it a try!

We live for coffee flavoured whipped cream1
1 cup(s) heavy cream, substitute whipping cream
2 teaspoon(s) instant-coffee granules, substitute espresso powder (you can always ask a restuarant to sell you a package of Sanka powder if you cannot find it at a local bulk food stoere)
    2 tablespoon(s) sugar
    Directions
In small bowl, add instant-coffee granules or espresso powder and sugar; add heavy or whipping cream and beat with hand beater or mixer at medium speed until soft peaks form (overbeating causes cream to curdle and turn to butter).
On hot days, chill bowl and beaters.

Make that recipe and then fold in 1 package of prepared instant chocolate or vanilla pudding … we fight over this recipe at my house.

Nothing tastes as good as a calorie!
