Welcoming Lick

November 28, 2011 by Julie 41 Comments

Tonight all of the fall decorations were taken down and placed in boxes where they will remain until next year.

With rainy weather outside, it felt extra cozy and seemed like the perfect evening to blast my favorite holiday playlist and take our Christmas decorations out of storage. (We meant to do it last night but got sidetracked… by the couch.)

Sadie immediately went for her Christmas bear toy (a free gift with purchase from Victoria’s Secret circa 2007) and gave it a welcoming lick…

…which was naturally followed by a game of “Bite the Head Off Santa Bear.”

Our house is currently about 50 percent decorated. We took a breather to make dinner and plan to spread the rest of the holiday cheer throughout the house over the next day or two.

Dinner tonight was a use whatever you can find in the fridge meal, which morphed into a stir-fry of ground turkey, cabbage and green peppers that I flavored with sesame oil, ginger, cumin and a splash of chicken broth.

Hummus toast served as a side.

Time to watch the SEASON FINALE of The Sing Off!

Go Pentatonix, go!! I really hope they win and then come to preform in Florida. I want to see them live and then pretend I can sing and beat box and join their group. I am from the fa-fa-fa-future. <— For my fellow Sing Off and Ben Folds fans. Winking smile

Enjoy your night!

I love that Sadie has a special Christmas toy. The dog I had growing up was so much in love with her special Christmas toy that she played with it year round…she’d cry if you tried to take it off of her!

Our puppy went for a little bear and a stuffed door hanger. We ended up having to put both up high since Quincy kept sneaking out and trying to destroy the decorations! I love those pics you snapped of Sadie!

Awwww! I watched Sing-Off last year (what what Streetcorner Symphony!) and just started watching this season’s on Hulu! I’m only about 6 episodes in, but I’m glad to hear Pentatonix is still in it! They’ve been legit! And I love Ben Folds. Seriously! The judges have been great this year! I think Sarah (we’re on a first name basis) has been great!

I loved when I was younger and we had decorations for each and every holiday. We had little wooden decorations for halloween and thanksgiving, and for easter we would put out a ton of stuffed bunnies. I think I got a bunny every year in my easter basket…well I’m 22 and my brother is 15…that’s a lot of rabbits. Well now I live in an apartment and have a small tree, few ornaments, and a yankee candle. Can’t wait to have space to get lots of decorations for each holiday when I move into a bigger place with more storage! Being festive no matter what time of year always brightens my mood!

My roomie is obsessed with Pentatonix! On another note, it looks like Sadie is nicer to toys than my dog. Eyes and nose are usually gone before I even get all the tags off.
