Triset Arm Workout

December 30, 2014 by Julie 31 Comments

Good morning to you! I hope your Tuesday is shaping up nicely so far! My Tuesday began the sweaty way since I headed off to the gym first thing this morning to teach a 6 a.m. indoor cycling class.

I expected attendance to be rather sparse due to the holidays and didn’t have anyone there until about three minutes before class was set to start. I’m so glad a good group ended up coming because we had a great class with a lot of energy. As an instructor, I cannot say how much I feed off a class’ energy. When people show up enthusiastic, it makes a world of difference. Of course there are days when I definitely have to pull the energy of a class, but today, thankfully, wasn’t one of those days and we had a fun ride together before the sun came up.

Triset Arm Workout

After class, I headed back into the gym for a quick 15-minute arm workout that looked like this:

15 Minute Arm Workout

The workout is a triset workout, meaning I preformed the three exercises in each triset back-to-back with no rest.

Breakfast

Following my mini strength training session, I drove back home to grab a quick breakfast before it’s time to shower and head out again. On the menu for today was an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with Canadian bacon and fresh tomato slices.

Plus a banana on the side!

It was warm and delicious… The perfect wintertime breakfast comfort food!

And now it’s shower time. Hope you guys have a great day!

P.S. I had a few questions about the outfit I wore to see A Christmas Carol, so all the details are below!

gray cropped sweater

  • Gray cropped sweater: Abercrombie (<—Yes, really! I got it for $16 at Marshalls this year. High school throw back…)
  • Red bandage pencil skirt: Romeo & Juliet Couture – only $29 and also available in blue and black! (via Hautelook – Similar options: Black high-waisted bodycon skirt <—only $10, BCBG bandage skirt, )
  • Nude peep-toe booties/pumps: Nine West Girlsrock (via Nordstrom Rack – They’re my favorite and so, so comfy! I couldn’t find them online in nude anymore, but here they are in black.)
  • Lip color: Smashbox Bordeaux Be Legendary Long Wear Lip Lacquer

Definitely know what you mean about feeding off others’ energy. I often taught early morning spin classes (pre-7 AM), so it was tough to get energized if there were only one or two folks in class. But, even with a small group, knowing that they came out so early to join me made it worth getting up early.

I have very similar hair to you! Can you share some tips on how you do your hair? I remember you did this a while back, but a refresher with whatever new products & techniques you use would be awesome!

Thanks for everything — always look forward to your posts!

Also — would love to know what blogs you read 🙂

Ahhh nude pumps…. I need a pair of those! I own one pair of nude heels and one pair is just not enough. Oh, and I still actually wear a few things from high school…embarrassing?

I love the quick arm workout! Maybe I missed it, but how many reps do you do of each exercise? How many push-ups, etc? Hope you have a great rest of the day!

I totally hear you on the energy of your class! I love when I have a large class with lots of enthusiasm. Lately, my classes have been a little smaller due to the holidays, and a few have been a little challenging to get the energy flowing. For example, the 5:30 AM BodyPump class I taught the day after Christmas last week… I had THREE people, I was exhausted, and I could tell the three people that were there had mixed feelings about being there too. Haha. It made the class a little rough in the beginning, but I “faked it ’til I made it”, and we ended up having an awesome class. Energy is so contagious! So glad that you ended up having an awesome spin class. 🙂

My group fitness class attendance was a little lighter last night as well. I’m guessing some people are taking a break through NYE. Glad you had some good energy from the members that did show up though!

No one has been at my gym this last week except for us few regulars. Ha! I love having all the equipment to myself. BUT being a fitness instructor myself, I can understand how dreary it seems when you’re teaching a class to a small group. I adore that skirt! I can’t believe it wasn’t that expensive.

I bet you are a little scared for next week though, with the gym packed and everyone waiting for equipment.

I loved that little workout for arms. I always do a lot of big exercises (bench, squats, deadlifts) but I find that I neglect my arms and I love the idea of a tri-set to mix things up. Breakfast? I have oatmeal but should probably protein up a bit

Thanks for a lot of great info in one post!

I definitely know what you mean about classes being different w different amounts of energy. I hate going to early classes that only have one other person (or just me!) because then I don’t always get as pumped up to work my hardest!

So glad you had a great early morning class. Everyone in the classes definitely does make a difference!

Just a quick question, how many reps of each of the arm exercises did you perform? I guess you could modify it however, but I was just wondering what worked best for you. Thanks!
