Welcome to the new look of Peanut Butter Fingers! I am so excited about this redesign and though it’s still not 100 percent done, I am thrilled to unveil the new look to you guys today!
I began blogging in September 2009 and throughout the past four years, Peanut Butter Fingers has changed design only a small handful of times.
When I first started blogging, I set up my site using a free WordPress template and a banner I designed myself in Microsoft Paint. (You can see my tips for setting up your own blog in this post: How to Start a Blog, Blog Focus, Self Hosting and More.)
Does anyone out there remember the peanut butter cookie banner!?
Or the creamy peanut butter banner?
Clearly I needed some serious help in the blog design department, but I waited to reach out to a real designer until I was pretty sure that this whole blogging thing might stick.
I fell in love with blogging pretty fast, but still didn’t feel comfortable investing money into a redesign until 2010 when the design you’ve seen on PBF for the past three years was created by Emily White (formerly known as The Blog Fairy).
I loved this look when it was first installed and thought it captured the fun-loving and lighthearted nature of this blog.
Fast forward a few years and I began to feel a little restless and wanted a change. I wanted a cleaner look with more white space, easy navigation, a fun yet slightly more sophisticated font and social media icons that matched.
I owe the BIGGEST thank you to Kendra of Swoon Creative who is the designer behind the new look of Peanut Butter Fingers.
Over the past few months, Kendra and I worked together to create the look you see today. I gave her a lot of feedback, sent her examples of colors, fonts and websites I love and she used her incredible talent and creativity to create the new design.
I have so many fabulous things to say about Kendra but her initiative is something I must highlight. She came up with so many fun new ideas and surprised me more than a few times with various features. She took my feedback to heart, installed the design for me tonight (and didn’t bat an eye as we exchanged emails for hours!) and deserves more praise than I can send her way. I cannot recommend her services enough!
I hope you guys love the new look of Peanut Butter Fingers as much as I do. Again, it’s not entirely finished, as I have a few fun features I hope to install, but I am excited for this change.
Thank you, as always, for joining me on this journey!
