A Quality Marshalls

May 24, 2012 by Julie 90 Comments

With two shorts trips to Jacksonville Beach in under a week, I feel like I’m getting to know the area a little bit and must say I’m really loving it. Jacksonville Beach is the perfect mix of beach and city life and suits me quite well.

Ryan and I joke that I fall in love with any city that I visit now that we live in Ocala since there are all of 3.5 things to do in the entire town. (We have one very Ocala-appropriate activity planned for this weekend though and I’m awfully excited! Here’s a clue: Neeeigh! It’s a thinker, I know.)

Workout

Today’s workout was awesome. I thought my legs would be sore from yesterday’s leg workout, but apparently the weights I chose weren’t as challenging as I thought because I wasn’t sore at all.

This was actually a great thing because I awoke ready to run! I rarely wake up in the mood to run (I have to go to bed telling myself I’m going to run to mentally get in the zone), so I went with it and laced up my gym shoes for a 45-minute run around Jacksonville Beach.

My Garmin was having trouble locating the satellites at the beach, so I just used it to track my time so I knew when I wanted to turn around and head home. I wasn’t trucking along at a very fast pace and had a good time running by some seriously ridiculous houses along the beach. Private outdoor showers? Awesome.

When I was done with my run, I quickly showered in someone’s private outdoor shower (kidding!) and my mom and I headed out to grab a quick breakfast at Starbucks before our first appointment of the day. (I know I’m being annoyingly vague about our appointments, but I hope to share more information with you guys sometime in the future.)

IMG_0358-001

I got the egg white, feta cheese and spinach wrap and a grande cappuccino with one pump of vanilla syrup. I ate breakfast while typing up my morning blog post as my mom got some stuff in order.

The rest of the morning was spent hopping from one appointment to the next. My mom had one thing planned that didn’t involve me, so I drove over to a local shopping center and browsed around Marshalls.

The Marshalls in Jacksonville Beach reminded me a lot of the one in Orlando and was stocked with much better apparel and accessories than the TJMaxx in Ocala. Those stores are so hit or miss, but the Marshalls I stopped in today was a mega hit!

IMG_0363-001

I thought those wedges were adorable but passed on them because they were a half size too big and I wasn’t sure I’d wear them that often.

Plus, I found these wedges and, after some lovely Twitter encouragement from you guys, bought them for only $19.99.

IMG_0364-001

They’re shockingly crazy comfortable. I will be taller than a skyscraper.

I also stumbled upon a pair of sneakers claiming to be LA Gear, but that was clearly a blatant lie.

IMG_0365-001

We all know LA Gear only makes shoes that light up when you walk. C’mon.

Along with the wedges, I bought two new dresses.

Dress number one was a Jessica Simpson coral one-shoulder belted dress…

IMG_0367-001

And dress number two I fell in love with the minute I saw it on the rack.

IMG_0368-002

I love, love, love crochet clothing and drop-waist dresses so that little number was right up my alley.

After wasting a solid 45 minutes at Marshalls, I picked up my mom and we continued on our way before eventually stopping for lunch at Chipotle.

IMG_0371-001

I got a burrito bowl topped with pinto beans, vegetables, pork and extra tomato salsa.

IMG_0370-001

Their pork is so freakin’ good. I’ve strayed a time or two before and got the steak and chicken, but the pork reigns supreme.

Time to get back to spending time with my mama. Hope your Thursday is going well!

You always find the cutest dresses!!

I keep seeing that breakfast wrap from Starbucks popping up on blogs, is it good? That would be a convenient thing to pick up when we hit the road in the morning 🙂

I spent most of the afternoon in Ocala today, and realized, there isn’t much there. Besides the basic (boring) places you find everywhere else. And I love the first dress!! I never have lucky at finding my size!

When we first moved here, I was so excited to see that a local magazine ranked Ocala’s best restaurants. Yeah, Sonny’s BBQ (as in the ginormous chain) won.

I am in love with the JS dress! The color is awesome and the pockets are super duper cute! Great score on that one. 🙂

I have almost those exact same criss cross wedges. I got them from Kohl’s last summer (they are the dana buckman brand). They are a knock off on Stewart Weitzman sandals that are like $400). LOVE them and they go with EVERYTHING 🙂

I feel sorry for whoever has such a “private” outdoor shower that it can be seen from the road! That’s hilarious!

Those two dresses are so cute! I love the look of the drop-waist, but adore the color of the belted dress. And the Starbucks spinach and feta cheese wrap is my favorite! I could eat it every day. My bank account makes a little cry every time I pass a Starbucks. 🙂

Great shopping finds! My tiny TJ Maxx hardly ever has anything. Can’t wait to go home to the big city this summer and hit up all my favorite stores!

There is nothing worse then getting all psyched to get some good deals at Marshalls only to find out the one you selected is stinky and small!

They certainly didn’t skimp on the tomato salsa! I love Chipotle, but always get chicken. I’ll have to try the pork next time!

I love running at Jax beach. It’s actually the only time Zeus really likes going to the beach. When he’s out there running he picks up the seaweed, flinging it through the air and runs around like a crazy dog. We’ve met a few other vizslas out there and there’s also a dog park not far from the beach where they can run off leash.

My roommates and I were talking last night about how some Marshalls are sooo much better than others! I had just come from there and actually tried on the same white crochet dress! It was too long on me though because I’m shorter than you – it’s so cute!!

I live in a small town too, and sometimes I get so frustrated with how limited our TJMaxx can be! I grew up in the city where there were always so many options at Ross/Marshalls/TJMaxx, that this one just doesnt usually cut it! So I totally understand that feeling. Also, both those dresses are adorable!

Both of those dresses are great! I totally agree that its hit or miss with those types of stores. Same thing with thrift shops – some neighborhoods you can thrift your way to paradise and others you can thrift your way to some sort of dust induced nightmare.

Also, I have the forerunner 405 and it just stopped working 🙁 Seeing yours just made me that much more sad about it. I love that thing! Luckily, its still covered under warranty but I won’t have my replacement for about two weeks!

I absolutely LOVE Chipole’s sauce for their salads. I asked them if they sold it in jars and they said no. So I found a recipe online and tried it. It too me a couple tries, but the flavor is almost spot on to theirs. SOOOOO Delicious. Always go there when I find one in the area.

Amazing Marshall’s finds!! That crochet dress is absolutely gorgeous, and I bet the shoes look great with it. My favorite wedges (b.o.c. brand) are sky high like that too but amazingly comfortable.
