Alarm Clock Songs

October 10, 2013 by Julie 53 Comments

Good morning, party people!

I hope your Thursday is off to a good start. My day began before dawn when my alarm clock blared, abruptly waking me up in the middle of a dream. I must have been dreaming about a concert or something because a song was playing in my head when the music of my alarm started playing and clashed with my dream song. It was like Battle of the Bands: Dream Edition.

Apparently we are starting this Thursday on quite a little tangent!

Breakfast

After my alarm went off, I got dressed in comfy travel clothes and headed into the kitchen to eat the breakfast I assembled (and photographed) last night.

oatmeal cashews

Oatmeal + Black cherry Greek yogurt + Cashews + Pumpkin seeds + Dried cranberries

My dad, sister and I were all ready to head out the door by 5:30 a.m. and drove to the airport to board the first flight out to Baltimore. We should be arriving shortly!

My mom will be picking us up at the airport (she arrived in Pennsylvania on Monday to bring my grandma home from the hospital) and then we have plans to grab some food at a diner before spending the afternoon with my grandma, Nana. After that, it’s onto my grandma Mimi’s house in Gettysburg!

Question of the Morning

  • Do you wake up to a certain song as your alarm clock?

When I’m at home in Ocala, Ryan and I use a regular alarm clock with one heck of an annoying beep. Whenever I travel, I use the alarm clock on my phone and wake up to “Call Me Maybe.” I know it’s a weird song to wake up to, but it’s a good one because it eases into the energetic part of the song. I appreciate the way it builds so I can motivate myself to get out of bed before the chorus starts blaring. When Ryan travels he listens to the a cappella version of “Wavin’ Flag” by the YellowJackets. If you love a cappella, definitely give it a listen! It’s a good one!

I have an ancient alarm clock that barely gets any radio stations and sadly, I don’t have a smartphone to use as my alarm clock, so basically I just wake-up to whatever radio station comes in at that time. Come to think of it, it’s actually kind of annoying. I really need a smartphone! 😉

It’s an annoying beep for me. I’m a pain to get out of bed in the morning, so I need something harsh and LOUD.

I think my favorite song to wake up to is “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” by Cage the Elephant. It just cracks me up every time because it talks about getting no rest while it’s waking me up. Another one is “Meet Me Halfway” by the Black Eyed Peas. It’s another ironic one because I literally have to meet the floor halfway by putting my feet down. If a song can get me to laugh, I’ll usually wake up.

My alarm clock is always “old phone” on the iphone. It is so terribly annoying but it is what gets me up and out of bed in the morning! Other things take too long to wake me up – I have tried changing it but it seems to have the best result! Enjoy your travels!

My iPhone just starts beeping at me. And it’s an annoying beep so I have to turn it off. It works out well for waking me up 😉 Have fun!

I awake to the radio, so there are often times where I keep dreaming because people are talking lol then there are times when I wake up confused as to why music is playing, often those times are when it’s Tuesday or Wednesday and I think it’s Saturday lol

I used to pick a song that would wake me up softly and get my energized! I have since started to use the Sleep Cycle app on my phone, and you can either pick some soft noise or music; I think my latest choice was a soft tone with chimes. I also have a Jawbone UP and it vibrates on my wrist to wake me up – I love it!

Most of the time it’s just some default alarm sound, but every year as soon as thanksgiving has passed I switch it to the song from the opening credits of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – it’s the absolute best way to wake up

Have a wonderful time with your family and Nanas…

Currently I am so tired I use the loud horrible beeep on my cellphone to make sure I actually wake up. When I’m not so tired, for a while I used the “Walking on Sunshine” song by Katrina & the Waves 😉 it always woke me up with a start and put a spring in my step 🙂

I don’t wake up to a song, just one of the iPhone alerts! But I typically write myself a message in there for a little extra motivation to get up and workout! 4:30 am wake-up calls are NOT fun!

I use the quietest sound on my phone that I can as an alarm. Since the iphone update the sound has been different and I’ve needed to turn it up so it wakes me up but then it also wakes up my husband. Quite the predicament! Using a song to wake up sounds like a fun idea. My husbands phone has a rooster sound that wakes him up. I HATE that thing. It is amazing how certain alarm sounds can make us crazy.

When I was in high school I had an alarm clock radio and I remember having a dream where the person I was talking to suddenly started singing – it was my alarm going off! I just use regular tones on my phone now. For a while I used the song “Thrift Shop” but now everytime I hear that song I get a bad feeling, haha so I don’t want to ruin any more songs!

I used to try and put songs on my phone for my alarms, but they always ended up just making their way into my dreams and not actually waking me up. I’m a pretty heavy sleeper! So now I have to have a super loud, annoying beeping sound as an alarm clock, and sometimes my husband still has to pick me up and drop me on the floor to wake me up (no joke, it’s happened).

Zach has to get up way earlier than I do most days — so his alarm “song” is INGRAINED into my brain. Unfortunately it’s a really common ringer that I hear at work all the time. Definitely a bad correlation! It drives me nuts every time!

I wake up way before my husband does, so I use my cell phone on vibrate under my pillow. I like it a lot better than loud alarms, but it’d be nice to wake up to music too!
