Breakfast Mistake

February 17, 2014 by Julie 66 Comments

It’s Mondaaay!

Aren’t you psyched!?

Hopefully you’re coming off a great weekend filled with love and chocolate. Our Valentine’s Day was low key and fabulous. Ryan and I had a great weekend at home in Ocala together and filled our time with hiking, pizza, a date night and a movie at home.

ocala hiking

On Saturday evening, our date night took us to the Blue Wagyu and Ryan and I ordered salads to start and shared a Devil’s Rope pizza that was fantastic. If you enjoy making homemade pizza (I will often make pizza on a pita or flatbread), here’s a combination you must try: Olive Oil + Shaved Parmesan + Arugula + Oven Roasted Plum Tomatoes + Balsamic Reduction. YUM. Making homemade balsamic reduction is now on my “must do” list!

Workout

This morning, I woke up unsure of what I wanted to do at the gym. Whenever I am not feeling particularly inspired, I will pop into a group exercise class and decided to take a 5:15 a.m. spin class this morning.

We had a great ride thanks to upbeat music (the instructor played a techno Whitney Houston song which is right up my alley) and when I finished, my blonde hair looked brunette because of all the sweat. That’s what I call success, my friends!

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was a delicious mistake.

coconut milk almond butter and strawberry smoothie

I made a smoothie by combining the following:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • Enough coconut milk to get everything moving

Strawberry Coconut Almond Butter Smoothie

It was delicious but a mistake of a breakfast because now I am quite chilly! Time to brew a cup of coffee to take with me to work!

Question of the Morning

  • What was the best thing you ate this weekend?

The Devil’s Rope pizza from the Blue Wagyu. Fantastic!

The best thing that I ate this weekend was some delicious Lemon Chicken that my younger brother made. The kid could seriously be a chef, he is that good!

I made almost the exact same smoothie yesterday, but mine had cocoa powder instead of peanut butter. Strawberries have been on my mind lately, so I just dumped them in and let ‘er rip! I can’t wait until summer so I can have a smoothie without shivering though 🙂

I love your dog. :] And the best thing I ate this weekend was a BBQ quinoa concoction with tons of veggies, garbanzos, and spicy/smoky chicken sausage! Topped with avocado. Luckily I have leftovers that will last me for a few more days.

I made these cauliflower bites by Gina from Skinnytaste.com . Those things were amazing and she has some fantastic healthy recipes on her blog.

That smoothie looks fantastic! I love when they come out super-thick and looking like a milkshake 🙂 MMM.
By far the best thing I ate this weekend was a four-course Valentine’s dinner prepared by my favorite local restaurant…it was unbelievable! I posted photos/more details on my blog today if you want to check em out 🙂

I totally know what you mean about smoothies making you chilly! I always have to pair mine with a hot mug of tea or else I start shivering!

well, our valentines meal was less than desirable (bad wait service and the food was barely subpar)……but….the chocolate martini I ordered was DELICIOUS!

I hosted my sister’s baby shower and my mother-in-law, in a moment of inspiration, made bacon wrapped dates to add to our Hors d’oeuvre spread. They were delicious and a definite favorite! She just happened to have a large Costco bag of dried dates on hand and threw them together! I will be keeping these on the fringes of my memory for when I need a quick and very simple crowd pleaser.

that is definitely a tie between the best tiramisu I’ve ever had at arancino (v.day dinner) and the raw/vegan living lasagna and chocolate tart I had on Saturday….

Best thing I’ve eaten in a LONG time was our Austrian Valentine’s fondue dinner. Definitely a meal I’ll never forget 😉
