Calling All Cats

June 23, 2011 by Julie 68 Comments

I think I’m going insane.

Ever since this morning’s run-in with a mouse in our kitchen, I keep thinking I see one scampering about out of the corner of my eye. It’s maddening!

One question for you guys: Who wants to come over for a sleepover!? Let’s have a party. Bring your cat.

Sadie Drop Off

This morning, after tackling some emails in my inbox, I headed out to drop off the stomach kicker/ mouse stalker-but-not-killer with my mom. My family will be watching Sadie for the next three days as Ryan and I head to Atlanta for my birthday celebration weekend!

IMG_0752

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this trip since my birthday back in April and can’t wait to scuba dive with some whale sharks. It’s going to be freaky and fantastic all at the same time.

I spent a good hour with my mom after dropping Sadie off and really enjoyed catching up with her. Sadie was beyond excited to see my mom and whimpered, peed and frothed at the mouth all at once when she first heard her voice.

Lunch

Lunch today was totally random because my timing got a little screwy since I was out and about.

First, a white chocolate macadamia nut Luna bar…

(Recycled picture because I was driving on the highway and it was dangerous to snap a photo. Safety first!)

Then a waffle with almond butter when I got home (x2!)…

almond butter granola 012

Followed by an unpictured Granny Smith apple with more almond butter. Sometimes random just works.

Off to set up a guest post for tomorrow afternoon on the blog. It’s a good one! Smile

  • #594, Emily: “I’m a fan of patterns and I can always use a little sparkle in my life!”

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

There was a mouse in our house the other day, but instead of killing it my cat played with it! He was whipping it around and throwing it in the air. He eventually killed it, but it was paralyzingly terrifying. (Please don’t tell me I’m a baby ;))

following her breast cancer diagnosis, she has also battled lymphedema, which caused her to be unable to do her full-time nursing job, so she is no longer working. if you have any nursing-related questions you’d like answered, please let me know! she loves to help!

You would think a cat would be effective, however, what actually happens when the cat catches the mouse…quite the mess! That is exactly why I can’t have a cat in my apartment. I am afraid of what I would come home to at the end of the day lol. instead, I have unwanted “pet” mice. Ughhh. Enjoy your much needed get away!

Does Sadie pee everytime she gets excited? That would get old! We dog sat a female dog before and she did that if you even raised your voice a TINY bit. I don’t know if that’s a typical girl thing or not? I’ve only had male dogs so didn’t know…

Julie! ATL is my stomping grounds so here are some unsolicited suggestions :] My favorite bfast place is called Sun In My Belly (suninmybelly.com) out in Decatur (maybe a 15 min drive from downtown) and you should try it if you’ve got time! I also suggested Murphy’s (in my comment earlier)- it is in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood which is a really fun area to go out. Piedmont Park has this beers in the park thing on Fridays and Saturdays too if you & Ryan like drinking outside! OK- enough! I hope y’all have so much fun!

Set those traps (rental or not)! The best are the ones that are covered so you don’t see the darn thing. I’ve used them and they are pretty easy to use. I use peanut butter (insert laughter here) as bait. Mice are not fun and from a former cat owner they don’t catch them all the time (mine never did). Good luck to ya.

I have a very efficient mouse killing cat. So efficient in fact that he does it nice and tidily. Broken neck, no grossness. Or maybe that’s because I got lucky and was home to remove the dead mouse before he had a chance to tear into it. Gotta love ’em former strays. They work hard to earn their keep.

I’m so in awe of the fact your actually going looking for sharks! We used to have a mouse problem and after trying numerous things, we finally found something that worked! They sale packets of “rodent poison” at Walmart and Target. You just throw them in your attic and/or under your house, the mice eat them, and then they die! We never smelled any dead mice AND we never saw another one…Its been 3 years!
