Cheesy Baked Pasta

September 14, 2011 by Julie 274 Comments

Tonight I used the the very last food item from my Healthy Living Summit swag bag to make a delicious dinner!

baked pasta 003

I used a box of Eden Organic kamut ditalini pasta to make a cheesy baked pasta dish that totally hit the spot after yesterday’s pasta cravings.

Cheesy Baked Pasta

Serves two, or one very hungry person

(Note: If serving two, you will likely want a side for along with this dish, as the serving size is rather small for two people)

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook + Bake Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole grain ditalini pasta, uncooked
  • 1 can chicken, drained (4.5 ounces)
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside
  3. Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until it’s al dente (slightly firm)
  4. Remove pasta from heat, drain and place back into pot
  5. Add chicken, broccoli and 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese begins to melt
  6. Add marinara sauce and breadcrumbs and stir until everything is mixed together
  7. Top with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted

This was a super-cheesy dinner winner in our house tonight! It kind of reminded me of baked ziti or mostacholi. So good!

In Need of a New Show

With Bachelor Pad over and Jersey Shore not interesting me like it used to (well, we always DVR it, but we’re not motivated to stay up and watch it like we used to be), I’m out of television shows that excite me. (Please refrain judgment on my show choices.)

I really like having one show to look forward to during the week and feel like I must be missing out on some quality show out there right now.

Why can’t Friends still be running? Wah.

Anyway, if you have any “must watch” shows that you’ve been enjoying lately, feel free to share! Since Ryan and I have no friends in our new hometown yet, we’re looking to make some new television friends until we get some kind of a social life here.

Gosh, I sound so pathetic. Smile

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

MODERN FAMILY!!! So funny. The 3rd season starts up soon and it does not matter if you’ve never watched it before. It’s freaking hilarious. And Glee is always a good choice 😉

I have to second Suits!!! Its alittle different than typical comedy-dramas, the characters are likeable and intriguing and the script is witty and smart. Its new to USA this summer and the whole first season is On Demand (so you can watch it as a marathon or at your leisure).

I think if anything, its worth watching the pilot. I think it was one of my favorite pilots ever – so engaging and quick paced. You’ll love the character interactions and Ryan will totally dig the plot.

If you can’t tell – it was my most anticipated show this summer 🙂

if you have netflix i would HIGHLY suggest Mad Men it’s about men that work in advertising in NYC in the 1960’s…sometimes I find it a little depressing because most of the men cheat on their wives (I’d like to stay ignorant and believe this doesn’t happen in the real world) but other than that it’s a really good/addicting show!

I love good television, but I could never get into reality TV (except HGTV). I often don’t watch these when they are actually on and then just marathon entire seasons in a short period of time.

It’s been on twice before and the groups are AMAZING! I’m a graduate student at the University of Delaware and the school actually has a group competing! Go Deltones! 🙂

Reality Shows: The Real Housewives (right now NJ and Beverly Hills is on), Rachel Zoe, and Top Chef Desserts (maybe you can catch up online since it started a few weeks ago). I am a reality show junkie so I DVR/watch more than I should probably admit lol

there are tons of great shows, but they’ve all either ended or don’t start for a couple weeks! I feel like we are in a very frustrating place in the television world. Honestly, I’m excited about Biggest Loser starting up again in a couple weeks, I never watched it until about 2 seasons ago but now I’m hooked! I think it’s because it involves exercising and eating, which are big interests of mine, with the human interest – I get so happy for them when they do well! ok, yes, i’m crazy.

In addition to that, I really love the Real Housewives series. It’s mindless entertainment, however, I’m not sure it’d be Ryan’s thing. More of a girlie show.
