Cheesy Baked Pasta

September 14, 2011 by Julie 274 Comments

Tonight I used the the very last food item from my Healthy Living Summit swag bag to make a delicious dinner!

baked pasta 003

I used a box of Eden Organic kamut ditalini pasta to make a cheesy baked pasta dish that totally hit the spot after yesterday’s pasta cravings.

Cheesy Baked Pasta

Serves two, or one very hungry person

(Note: If serving two, you will likely want a side for along with this dish, as the serving size is rather small for two people)

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook + Bake Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole grain ditalini pasta, uncooked
  • 1 can chicken, drained (4.5 ounces)
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside
  3. Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until it’s al dente (slightly firm)
  4. Remove pasta from heat, drain and place back into pot
  5. Add chicken, broccoli and 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese begins to melt
  6. Add marinara sauce and breadcrumbs and stir until everything is mixed together
  7. Top with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted

This was a super-cheesy dinner winner in our house tonight! It kind of reminded me of baked ziti or mostacholi. So good!

In Need of a New Show

With Bachelor Pad over and Jersey Shore not interesting me like it used to (well, we always DVR it, but we’re not motivated to stay up and watch it like we used to be), I’m out of television shows that excite me. (Please refrain judgment on my show choices.)

I really like having one show to look forward to during the week and feel like I must be missing out on some quality show out there right now.

Why can’t Friends still be running? Wah.

Anyway, if you have any “must watch” shows that you’ve been enjoying lately, feel free to share! Since Ryan and I have no friends in our new hometown yet, we’re looking to make some new television friends until we get some kind of a social life here.

Gosh, I sound so pathetic. Smile

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Our must watch shows are kind of lame, but they are: Dancing with the Stars (I *make* my husband watch it), Biggest Loser (though without Jillian, it might not be good anymore), Mike & Molly, Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family. I am also dying to see New Girl with Zooey Deschanel. It looks hilarious. I agree that Jersey Shore isn’t as interesting right now…but I do still watch. 😉

    That pasta dish looks great!

Unfortunately, I’m a TV addict and I have too many MUST watch shows! We DVR most of them and watch the next day or on weekends…But I love Gossip Girl, Parenthood, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family and Private Practice. I also hear that new show “Up all night” is hilarious. There is another new one – “Ringer” – on the CW with Sarah Michelle Gellar, I caught the first episode last night and it definetley caught my interest and I will be watching it. It is suspense/mystery/thriller type so you might like it!

Also, have youo guys considered catching up on a show you have never watched through old seasons – netflix, etc. My husband and I started watching Californication (a Showtime show) through Netflix and we like it a lot. I also watched all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights in about 2 weeks, once I got started, I was hooked!!!

    Modern Family
    Project Runway
    Breaking Bad

    Sons of Anarchy

The last three need to be watched from the beginning so you should get the first seasons on DVD!

    Hi Julie,

Some of my fav shows that are about to start next week include: The Biggest Loser (LOVE THIS ONE), Survivor, and Modern Family (might be the funniest show I have ever seen). Something that we also love to watch that is mid-season right now is Top Chef! The current season is Just Desserts, but the regular season will start after that. Since you love food and cooking, just like I do, you might really enjoy this show!

While I am in the process of commenting, I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your blog. I find it inspirational, funny, and very entertaining. I feel like I am sitting with you over a cup of coffee when I read your posts. Hmmmm does that make me weird? Anyways, thanks for….well… being you 🙂

if you liked jersey shore and bachelor pad you should check out most eligible dallas. It’s hilarious. Definitely one of those shows where you need someone to watch it with so you can comment throughout the whole thing! But the first season might be over now. Other options: How I Met Your Mother (hilarious!), Mad Men (stream it on Netflix watch instantly), Friday Night Lights (I think it’s ended but find it because it’s amazing!!)

At least the fall line-up starts soon! We are anxious for our shows to begin next week!

And as far as Friday Night Lights, it did end but it was AMAZING. Most (if not all) episodes are on Netflix Instant.
