Concerts of the Past

November 1, 2011 by Julie 145 Comments

Good news for Sadie! I actually put on my running clothes and took a break from researching for a freelance piece to take her on a nice four-mile jog around our neighborhood right before lunch.

The weather is unbelievably gorgeous today and I felt so at peace on my run, even with my ‘90s music blasting on my iPod.

One song that made me smile? My Baby by Lil’ Romeo. When I was younger, I actually went to a Lil’ Romeo concert with a bunch of my girlfriends at the House of Blues. It’s crazy to me that Lil’ Romeo is now just Romeo and he’s 22!

That song made me think back to other concerts I’ve attended over the years as I ran:

  • Green Day, Blink 182, Kid Rock
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • OAR
  • Lil’ Romeo
  • Ben Folds
  • Bon Jovi
  • Destiny’s Child
  • Brooks & Dunn (x2!), Keith Urban
  • Straight No Chaser
  • Journey

The best concerts of the bunch in my eyes were Bon Jovi and Straight No Chaser. So good!

One concert I’ve always wanted to see? U2! My parents went a couple of years ago and said it was absolutely amazing.

All this concert talk reminds me that I really need to create a new playlist for Saturday’s half marathon!

Lunch

Lunch today was one of my favorites.

tuna salad bagel 003

Tuna salad on a wheat bagel, served with carrot sticks and the largest Honeycrisp apple known to man.

tuna salad bagel 001

tuna salad bagel 005

Sadie didn’t leave my side for a second as I ate my tuna salad. At least someone likes the smell of that stuff!

First concert was Nine Inch Nails with my mom (yes, you read that right…none of my friends were allowed to go!) when I was in grade school.

Best concert ever was the Vote For Change Tour in 2004…we saw Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. on the same night!

I’m a bit of a concert whore…I’ve been to over 150 concerts in my life. I actually have 3 to go to in the next 2 weeks!

First Concert: Debbie Gibson (1988…I was 8)
Best Concert: Pearl Jam (I’ve seen them twice…I cried the first time because I had been waiting 13 years to see them live and they are phenomenal!!)

I’ve seen most of my favourite bands multiple times:
    Our Lady Peace (14)
    Metric (12)
    The Trews (10)
    Sarah McLachlan (6)
Hey Rosetta! (soon to be 5 times)
    Foo Fighers (5)
    Chantal Kreviazuk (5)
    Library Voices (5)
    Tegan & Sara (4)
    Hawksley Workman (3)
    Pearl Jam (2)
And tons more in the 2 or 3 range, but I’m not going to list them all or I could be here all day.

I can’t believe you didn’t go to any NSync concerts?? I went to like 3! I always win the best first concert game because I saw Paul McCartney when I was 7 and sang along to everything. (My family are huge fans) I saw him again two years ago and he was fantastic. I also saw Coldplay a few years ago and it was amazing.

My favorite concert was Iron and Wine which i went to last year……I get chills just thinking about it! A close second would probably be radiohead or Sufjan Stevens.

Celine Dion was my first ever concert and I’m dying to go see her in Vegas!! I would say that her and The Eagles were probably the two best! Garth Brooks in Vegas was pretty amazing too!

My first (and what I’m guessing will be the best) concert was U2 last summer!! To say it was amazing was an understatement, and I still have flashbacks from it. The insane ticket price was worth it to be a few feet back from the stage. If you ever get the opportunity, go without hesitation!

I just saw Taylor Swift last week and it was ahh-mazing! My hubby got us tickets just for fun because we aren’t particularly fans of her but liked her in general but I definitely walked out of there turned into a fan. She is so likable! Also I want her whole concert wardobe!

My first concert was The Fray for my 16th birthday. My best concert was seeing the Jo Bros for the first time when I was 18… I know, I know. I actually went alone to that concert and had a BLAST with the girl who ended up sitting beside me! T Swift put on a really good show too! I saw her on her Fearless tour and I would LOVE to see her again when she comes to SC later this month but I chose to go to the Biltmore House with a friend instead. 🙂

Wow, people have been to a lot of concerts! I’ve never been to one. Too expensive, and to be honest I have never really wanted to. I’d much rather hear the artist sing, not listen to SCREAMING fellow fans.

I don’t remember my first, but the best was last summer, Tom Petty, 6th row. I think he sweat on me. It was a birthday present from my husband, who obviously kind of rocks.
