Fascinating Fascinators

July 3, 2012 by Julie 66 Comments

Good afternoon! Happy Tuesday that’s kind of like a Friday for those of you with tomorrow off for the Fourth of July!

I worked through the morning and took a 60-minute break around lunchtime to do something physical and get my body moving.

To the gym!

I began my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical while reading an extremely old magazine that featured a plethora of pictures of Kate Middleton. In nearly every photo she was wearing a fascinator, one of those fancy little hats.

I started to think about my family’s trip to London last year and cannot recall seeing even one woman wearing a fascinator. I’ve read that they’re rather formal, so maybe the people I saw just didn’t have anywhere fancy to go. London friends, do you wear fascinators or are they just a royal family thing?

They seem like a decent way to disguise greasy or super-flat hair, so I’m all for bringing them to the U.S.

The majority of my time at the gym was spent in the weight room targeting my biceps, triceps, shoulders and abs.

I did three sets of 15 reps of each exercise in the following workout, using a weight that challenged me:

I did all of the bicep and tricep exercises you see above first before moving onto my shoulders and abs. The first superset in the shoulders and abs section was killer thanks to three 60-second planks. Phew!

Lunch

Lunch today was a simple stir fry.

I started by sautéing onion, zucchini and broccoli on the stovetop in some olive oil. We had some leftover chicken on hand from Sunday night’s dinner, so I added it to the veggies, along with some cashews, chicken broth and light soy sauce.

From fridge to plate in 10 minutes!

I’m off to work for a few more hours before hopefully venturing out this evening with Ryan. Apparently there’s a Fourth of July celebration in downtown Ocala tonight and I’d like to check it out!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!
