Fly By

January 26, 2015 by Julie 51 Comments

Hey guys!! This morning I wanted to pop in and say hello, but it’s going to be a bit of a fly by post because things are a little hectic over here at the moment. I just got back from teaching a morning spin class and have just enough time to make myself a quick breakfast, say hi to you guys and fly back out the door for my next shift at the gym.

So what was on the menu for today?

egg white oatmeal pancake

An egg white and oatmeal protein pancake, of course! Now that these pancakes are back in my regular breakfast rotation, I cannot seem to stop eating them. I’ve been adding a scoop of peanut butter to the mix before preparing the pancake in a skillet and love the added staying power and flavor. Peanut butter everything, baby!

Spinning

Before breakfast, I taught an early morning spin class and I’m actually now officially allowed to say I “teach Spinning” since I went through Spinning instructor training on Saturday.

spinning bikes

Since Spinning is a registered trademark, unless an instructor obtains a certification through Spinning, they cannot say they “teach Spinning,” which is why, up until now, I’ve always referred to my classes as “indoor cycle” or “cycle.” Interesting, huh? I remember first learning about the distinction when I began teaching at a gym in Florida and am excited to have an official Spinning certification under my belt.

I’ll be sure to share more about the certification later this week. If you have any specific questions about it, please let me know! I’ll be sure to address them in a comprehensive post about the training.

Time to head back out. Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend! See ya after lunch!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Who owns spinning? Is it similar to how somebody “owns” Zumba? I’d like to hear about the training & cost associated with it, like if the gym has to pay the spinning owner.

Here’s a random cooking question about the protein pancake – do you think if you switched it up and added, say, pumpkin puree, that it would take longer to cook, or alternatively, NEVER cook through because of the extra moisture? have you tried any of this?

Just wondering, as I cook, but I certainly don’t cook every day (I’m more of an “assembler” of food). So thought you might tell us from your experience.

Never knew there was a special trademark for Spinning! Thanks!

i do try to do that, but i will often come home b/c i want to let sadie out or grab a super fast shower (and i don’t love the locker room showers at my gym)… plus i only live 5 min. from one of the gyms where i work, so that makes coming home a bit easier!

Congrats on getting certified!! I love the Spinning class format and have always been interested in certification (mainly because I am obsessed with music during spin classes). Can you teach Spinning classes at any gym or do they have to have the official Spinning bikes? Our gym has “cycling” classes, so I wasn’t sure if Spinning classes are outlawed there 🙂 Thanks for taking questions! Can’t wait to hear about the certification class!
