Another Monday is upon us!
Like every Monday in our household, the day began with a workout. Though I feel incredibly sluggish as I drag myself into the gym most Monday mornings, I instantly feel better once I start working out… and that good feeling lasts all day.
That crazy lil’ mantra “You’re just one workout away from a good mood” definitely rings true for me.
My workout began with 20 minutes of cardio with Ryan (15 min. incline walking + 5 min. running) and then it was off to BodyPump! The class was a decent one and I think my shoulders got quite the workout. I was still a little sore from doing Ryan’s awesome shoulder move on Saturday, so they were really feelin’ the burn.
After the gym, I took Sadie on a walk through the neighborhood near our apartment.
We passed a lake and a house being sold by none other than Gary Coleman!
Need a realtor?
What’chu talkin’ about, Willis?
After our walk, we arrived home and I was ready for breakfast.
Breakfast
The peanut butter jar was calling to me, so I made myself a peanut butter and banana sandwich on a honey wheat sandwich thin.
Peanut butter and banana is such a winning combination!
I wish I would have remembered to dust the sandwich with a little cinnamon, but it was still tasty regardless.
I also attacked part of an innocent loaf of raisin challah bread that was giving me the eye.
If I ever buy a loaf of bread from the Publix bakery that doesn’t come pre-sliced, I become a cavewoman and claw at it, ripping off chunks to eat. So civilized, I know.
Time to show-ah before that work thang!

Dang, all that before 7:45? I’m impressed by how much lighter it is in FL than up here…still half dark in NY!! Hope you have a great day 🙂
It isn’t really all that bright yet. 🙂 I “brightened” the outdoor pics a bit b/c they were a little dim. 🙂
I love that mantra Julie, so much so that I’ve just written it down! It’s so true.. I wasn’t feeling overly enthusiastic about my workout this morning but now I feel great! Have a fab Monday!
Aaah the weather looks so GORGEOUS in Florida!! SO jealous!! And NOTHING beats the PB+banana combo, except mabe PB+J…! 😛
I have to remember that: “You’re just one workout away from a good mood” !! Great motivation! 😀
I am slightly jealous. I woke up to a coating of snow today, after I had just been outside in shorts yesterday for a walk with the hubby!
I actually thought of you this morning because I really needed to use one of your mantras for getting myself to the gym. It worked and now I feel great!
I’m not even out of my pjs and look how productive you’ve been already! 🙂 P.S. PB & banana sandwiches are the best. Especially with a little drizzle of honey!
i made that exact sandwich yesterday 🙂 and could eat it today and tomorrow and everyday after that!
mmm, that bread looks good.
i need to keep reminding myself of that good mood mantra – i ment to get up at 6:45 and hit the gym before class but its the first day back from spring break and i am STRUGGLING. hopefully i can drag myself there after my morning class.
Do you buy name brand sandwich thins? The ones with the artifical fiber (inulin, etc.) both my tummy and I’ve been looking for a brand that doesn’t have it!
I buy whichever sandwich thins are on sale. These were Arnold I believe. 🙂
I love having productive mornings. They just set the tone for my entire day 🙂 I didn’t workout this morning and my mood has just been off!
Crazy! It is STILL dark here in Montana. =(
I love getting things done on Monday mornings! It really sets up the whole week to be a successful one =)
I loove pb&b with a little honey and cinnamon! sooo good! 😀
NICE WORKOUT! esp for a monday morning! ahahah garry coleman.. HUH!?
I love peanut butter and banana. It is such a good combination! I love challah bread too! Great Harvest Bread makes incredible challah bread. 🙂
PB & B never fails… and ripping chunks out of a big loaf of bread is the tastiest way to eat it 🙂
I am definitely a fan of the first-thing-in-the-AM workout… I sprained my ankle the week before last, so was unable to go to the gym at all last week, and it KILLED ME. I felt gross and it was just no bueno..thankfully I went today (medical boot and all- I looked awesome let me tell you what) and did an extreme upper body strength workout, and I feel like me again 🙂
Oh! And I have to tell you.. I showed the picture of the blender you got to my hubby, and he commented that it looks like the one my parents have. I wasn’t sure…but low and behold I took a closer look yesterday and it is indeed the very same! LOVE that blender! My mom got a little stir-happy with the stick thing that comes with it, and kind of tore up the bottom of the plunger (idk what it’s called haha), but that machine is a beast!
I am the exact same way with Publix bread- it’s just SO darn good!! 🙂
Gary Coleman died last year.
I love that mantra! Starting the week off with an early morning workout makes me feel the best!
I went to the gym this morning, and although I was initially dragging, I felt great after 🙂
I love your workout mantra — it is so true!
Gary Coleman — that is not a name I think about very often!
I have to ask.. those sandwich thins always look so dry to me. Do you prefer them over english muffins? I’m tempted to buy a whole thing of them and try it, but I’d like second (and third!) opinions, too.
the arnold ones are my FAV. they’re not dry at all and actually taste doughy! some of the other ones can be dry, but i highly recommend arnold!
Totally feeling like that polar bear this morning. I tried getting up early to pop on the elliptical for 30 minutes and it just didn’t happen. Hitting snooze was more appealing! I definitely envy your workout this morning!
Ouch! That pic of the polar bear is a little untimely considering the (very famous) polar bear that just died in Berlin.
oh no, i had no idea!
How do you get so much done in the morning–seriously? I have a hard time just getting out the door without looking like I dressed in the dark. How close do you live to your gym?
we live really close… like less than a 2 min. walk close.
Good for you for getting to the gym this morning! I just couldn’t make it happen…after work today perhaps? Here’s hoping!
I got up for a spinning class at 5:45 a.m. this morning and was sooo tempted to just sleep in, but I got up and went and now I feel wonderful! Never thought I’d ever get up early to exercise, but the feeling after is amazing. Might have to become a before-work exerciser instead of an after-work one.
PB and ANYTHING (well almost) is a winning combination 😉
Oh and about peanut butter, I had a peanut butter hamburger this weekend and it was GOOD! Peanut butter does indeed go with ANYTHING.
Hey Julie!
I’ve been seeing lots of popcorn on your blog lately, I think you’ll appreciate my blog post today … it’s on how to make your own popcorn (2 ways – on the stove, and in the microwave) – which is a lot healtheir than the storebought kind! =)

Thanks! Shana
I tried the peanut butter combo it is so delish!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha! Gary Coleman came back from the dead to be a realtor in Orlando? Who knew!
hey these houses aren’t gonna sell themselves! 😉
I love that mantra, I feel exactly the same way– I was laying in bed at 6 this morning deciding whether to get up and work out or sleep for another hour but I KNEW how great I would feel afterwards so I forced myself out of bed–you never regret a workout but you might regret skipping it!
Ooooh so excited that you’re guest posting for Gina!! 🙂
Have you ever seen or heard of “Avenue Q”? It’s a broadway musical, and Gary Coleman is a character in it! 🙂 Thanks so much for posting the link to the gluten free breakfast ideas–I really appreciate it. Happy Monday!
PB and bananas = best combo ever!! 🙂
Love the mantra too. I should live by that.
I am a little behind the times, but I just discovered the greatness of banana and PB!
Where do you get PB2? I am interested in trying it and I looked it up online. My local store doesn’t carry it. I can search other stores and also saw amazon had it.
I love your blog! Just became a recent reader!
i order it online from netrition.com. also, so glad you found me! 🙂
Huh, that is too crazy about Gary Coleman! And I love your allusion to being a cavewoman… that’s pretty funny! I sometimes feel like that in restaurants when I’m waiting for my food. I always want to dive across the table to the next couple over and steal their bread. Usually I stay seated and cilvized, though. (Until after my meal when I want to lick my plate clean… or use bread that the waiter brought *during* the meal [b/c we asked for more] to wipe down my plate…. hey… ya gotta do what ya gotta do for every last taste! Licking the plate straight up would just not be approps for a restaurant setting. Ryan rule. Not mine. Something about wanting to stay classy. Whatevs. I do what I want).
Mmm…love me some pb and banana! 🙂
I don’t know if you will ever find yourself in Wayne, PA but I thought of you when I saw this Phili Groupon this morning!

Poor polar bear…
Oh, but I’m the same way with bread. How else does one eat unsliced bread?
PB and Banana is my favorite! 😀 Have a great week Julie!
fun fact: gary coleman lived here in utah.. well, up until he died..
I have never heard that workout mantra, but I love it! I ALWAYS feel better the minute I get in the pool and start the first lap! 🙂
I tried Ryan’s shoulder move this weekend and it’s awesome!
I have nevered tried challah bread but I keep seeing pictures of it everywhere! and it looks sooo good.
LOVE PB BANANA… I have one everyday for lunch with honey too!
This comment is totally unrelated to this post, but today outside of my university’s library there was a vizsla, unattended (boo) doing the infamous Sadie “its-cold-out-here-squat” and I chuckled and knew I had to comment and tell you about it!
I thought of your website when I discovered banana flavored peanut butter this weekend. AMAZING!
The shoulder track is always one of my faves. Maybe because it means class is almost over? 😉
Hey Julie,
Don’t feel bad about ripping off bits of challah-it’s meant to be eaten that way 🙂
Deena
no chia seeds on your sandwiches????
