Ghost Bandana for a Hot Halloween

October 31, 2011 by Julie 79 Comments

Happy Halloween!

Sadie is all dressed up for Halloween in her ghost bandana. We decided against her pumpkin shirt for the day because it’s too hot outside.

It’s still crazy to me that Halloween is quite often hot in Florida.

Growing up in Illinois, I remember trying to figure out ways to wear jackets without covering costumes.

I loved my Energizer bunny costume when I was in sixth grade because I was able to wear a pink sweat suit and stay warm!

Though I’m not dressing up today, I am excited that we may have trick-or-treaters this evening! Now that we live in a neighborhood, I’m assuming kids will stop by for candy. I still need to run our and buy some! Rest assured, I will not be giving out any of the  candy that we deemed “The Worst Halloween Candy.”

Workout

Though I’m sure bucket loads of candy will be consumed this evening as I pass it out to kids, I started the morning on a healthy note and squeezed in a quick workout at the gym.

After 20 minutes on the elliptical, I did a leg workout that included the following exercises:

  • Lunges
  • Step-ups
  • Deadlifts
  • One-legged leg press
  • Stability ball squats
  • One-legged leg extensions

I kept my weight lighter than usual to hopefully avoid soreness since I want my legs to be in the best condition possible for Saturday’s half marathon.

Breakfast

Breakfast was an egg sandwich made with two fried eggs, a whole wheat English muffin, jelly and muenster cheese.

Now I’m hoping to get some work done before I take a quick lunchtime break to the grocery store to pick up candy to have on hand tonight. I’m thinking KitKats this year!

Questions of the Day

  • What was your best Halloween costume?
  • What was the best Halloween costume you’ve seen someone else wear?

I think my best costume was the Energizer bunny costume. As for someone else, I remember a girl in my elementary school dressing up as a gumball machine (balloons served as her gumballs) and her costume was amazing!

I saw a really awesome “bunch of grapes” costume over the weekend. The guy had purple balloons blown up to look like a bunch, and had a stick on top of his head haha. Kit Kats were my favorite Halloween treat when I was younger 😉

I got kit kats to hand out as well, I’m hoping to have lots of kids stop by, otherwise I’m gonna be eating a lot of chocolate in the next two days (sadly i don’t think it’ll last longer than that)
I haven’t seen this costume in person, but it’s the most awesome one i’ve seen ever, the 30 sec mark is where it gets awesome!

My favorite Halloween costume was from 5th grade. I was a dice and wore a box on my shoulders (well – it was so big it was over my whole body). I actually won a costume contest that year!

I love the gumball machine idea! I think my best halloween costume was a homemade adam and eve. Boyfriend wore boxers and we made them loook like a legit bush thanks to hobby lobby. Mine was a sports bra and spandex made into bush form lolz.

I think my best costume was either Pebbles from last yr or a bumblebee in college. 🙂 At a party this wkend, I saw the most hilarious couple costume deer (the guy) in headlights (girl, dressed as a road with two lights on the top of her dress!).

Sadie looks so cute in her bandana! I couldn’t choose on one Halloween candy to hand out, so I opted for the assorted mix of Reese’s, KitKats, M&M’s, and Whoppers. I also got a bag of Skittles and Starburst for kids that don’t want chocolate (heaven forbid!). 😉 My favorite costume was when I dressed up as Wilma Flintstone back in the day along with my brother who was Bam-Bam and my cousin who was Pebbles. I just posted a couple photos of it on my blog today! I think it’s such a good idea – good job parents!

I’m a Michigan gal, I can totally relate to planning my costumes around extra layers. I remember wearing my snow suit under my Cinderella costume when I was really young. I hated it, but I stayed warm! Happy Halloween!

We have snow on the ground! Some cities in my state got up to 30 inches of snow and still don’t have power. A few towns even had to postpone trick or treating because of power lines on the ground!

My best Halloween costume was being a fairy princess (not as a child…this was only 3 Halloweens past). I did fake eyelashes and glitter EVERYWHERE. I felt fancy 😉

The best someone else wore was probably this year…I saw someone dress as Candy Land complete with giant peppermints on sticks that you carry. It was hilarious because it was a guy covered in candy complete with little kid-style overalls. So funny.

My costumes weren’t too out of the ordinary, but my favorite (and best) is probably when I dressed up like a playing card with three other friends. I was the Ace of Hearts, and everyone else was a different suit.

TWIXS! Boo…atleast give the kiddos butter fingers or snickers 😉

But I think one of the funniest is the one my mother of age 56, went out bar hoppin in this weekend. She had a devil costume, and then under the cape she wore a shirt we iron on a transfer a picture of an over easy egg……a Deviled Egg!

PS. Just wanted to let you know I did the unmanageable again, and took ANOTHER leap, and started my own blog….

My daughter’s costume this year was the best so far…she was a tornado….she wore a grey gauze cape that we ripped up and attached animals, tractors, & various other objects to it…then mussed up her hair with leaves & sticks clipped in….when she spun around she would make a bunch of noise & the toys fly around….it’s pretty funny!! 🙂

I love the home made costumes, there so funny. In highschool there was so many great ones. I’ve seen a Fridge, a left over, the solar system, a stapler!! That one was great. My niece and a few of her friends dressed up as crayons this year, they were super cute.

My fav halloween candy is either Peanut Butter Cups or Kitkats 🙂

My favorite costume was probably my Little Mermaid Costume circa 1990. I was OBSESSED! P.S. your breakfast sandwiches always look so good 🙂 Must try immediately.

Too hot you say?? We had snow here. Lots of trees came down and some schools were closed. We set a record for the earliest snow fall. As far as Halloween goes, my mom made all our Halloween costumes when we were younger. My favorite had to be Little Red Riding Hood. Wish I still had that costume.

As adults, my husband and I dressed up as a priest and a pregnant nun. The best part was when an older lady at the bar thought I was really pregnant and told me all about her kids….as I’m holding a beer. Definitely a good laugh!

My husband Scott doesn’t like to do anything “half-way”…if we dress up for Halloween we go all out and dress to the tee from head to toe. We didn’t dress up this year, but my favorites have been the last 2 years:

In 2009 we went as Ken + Barbie. I had an obnoxiously teased up platinum wig, he had plastic hair, an 80s prom jacket and a “Ken” tag. We both had an extra (too many) spray tan to look plastic and I had a box I came in.

Last year we went as matching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders…yup, BOTH of us did. The theme was “night before and morning after.” I’ll let you guess who was who…http://bit.ly/sQD2Sb. Needless to say, it was a hit and we won “Best Couples Costume” at our company party. BOOYAH!

I love going decked out in a well put together costume, but one of these years I’m going to do something totally random…like a lego woman or the LMFAO Party Rock Robot.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🙂

The cold is the #1 reason I don’t like dressing up for Halloween. Girls’ costumes are always so small and poorly made!

My most memorable costume was in 2nd grade I dressed up as a California Raisin!! LOL basically my mom cut holes in a garbage bag n stuffed it with newspaper, and I rocked some shades, white gloves, and leggings. But I also grew up in IL, and that was one of my warmer costumes!

I love halloween and try to get creative with my costumes. My favorites have been Cousin Itt (covered myself in potato sacks cut into ‘hair’, then just added sunglasses), Lisa Simpson (that one was kind of rough…I had to form my hair with liquid gelatin, and at the end of the night, I realized there was no way I could sleep till I soaked my head enough to get the points out!), and Professor Zoidberg from Futurama. The best halloween costumes I’ve seen are anything Heidi Klum does! She’s a hoot at halloween!

I have found that bandanas usually do not always be employed by me because they will fallout of put or the knot will happen undone. There are actually bandanas along with elastic in the back so the bandana cannot come untied. This can be described as big help for my situation because My partner and i don’t like to worry regarding my tresses getting messed up.

I’m not sure exactly why but this web site is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later
and see if the problem still exists.
