Hair Tie Holder

October 21, 2011 by Julie 67 Comments

I know can’t be the only person who misplaces hair ties all the time.

I swear I used to spend an inordinate amount of time looking for my favorite hair ties until I discovered this amazingly simple idea for a hair tie holder on Pinterest.

hair tie holder

Brilliant, right?

Plus, I feel like a lot of people have some kind of a promotional carabiner lying around the house that they can use to make this happen. (I actually got the above carabiner at the Race for the Cure 10K  at the beginning of this month.)

Ever since I began using the carabiner hair tie holder, I haven’t found myself frantically searching for a hair tie at 5 a.m. Success!

Workout

For the past two days Ryan and I have been playing a little game on the way to the gym that we’ll call “Guess the Temperature.”

Now that it’s chilly in Florida, it’s fun to guess just how chilly it is outside. Today I guessed the exact temperature! 43 degrees. Brr.

When the car’s thermometer got to 47 degrees, one degree below Ryan’s guess, the temperature hovered there for a bit and Ryan started getting cocky. I told him that he already lost because we were playing by Price Is Right rules: Get the closest to the right temperature without going over. Bob Barker knows what he’s talking about. Victory!

Once we made it to the gym, it was time for 20 minutes on the elliptical before I completed an upper body workout that included three sets of 15 – 20 repetitions of the following exercises :

  • Superset One: Bicep curls + Ryan’s awesome shoulder move
  • Superset Two: Upright row + Tricep pull down
  • TRX bicep curls
  • TRX tricep extensions
  • Push ups
  • Tricep dips + Front shoulder raises
  • TRX I, Y and T’s

Done!

Breakfast

Today’s breakfast was a good one.

greek yogurt oatmeal pancakes 001

I blended the following ingredients with an immersion blender to make pancake batter for oatmeal Greek yogurt pancakes:

  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 6 ounces Chobani strawberry Greek yogurt
  • 1 egg white

greek yogurt oatmeal pancakes 004

Topped with a sliced banana and syrup, these pancakes were a great start to the day.

In case you’re in a pancake-makin’ mood this weekend, I highly recommend making my favorite Greek yogurt pancakes. They’re nice and light and have a slightly eggy texture that I absolutely adore. Perfect for a lazy Sunday!

Speaking of the weekend, any fun plans out there?

I will be spending this weekend with Ryan and my family… including my aunt and uncle who are visiting my parents all the way from Seattle! Since none of my extended family lives in Florida, it’s always special when they come to visit.

I wish everyone lived closer!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That is such a good idea for your hair ties! I always have to buy new packs and then somehow end up with like 2 haha. Do you think blending that pancake batter in a normal blender would work? I don’t have an immersion one. I hope you have an awesome weekend…it sounds like you will! 🙂 I don’t really have any specific fun plans, but I do know that I have virtually NO homework which is amazing!

i think so! you might need to add a little milk or something to get it going. a food processor would also work.

I love finding uses for all those random freebies. Another good one is using a beer koozie on shaving cream cans so you don’t get those nasty rust rings in the shower.

Hahaha Price is Right rules. Totally pulled that one on my coworker 2 weeks ago. Another [LOUD] coworker started a “half hour” phone call and we were betting to see how long she’d actually be on the phone. I bet 52 minutes, she bet 56. Since it was actually 55, I clearly won with Bob Barker rules 🙂

Carabiners are the best for hair ties. I used to lose them all the time in high school, then I went on a trip with some classmates, and one of them had her hair ties on a carabiner. It’s such a simple idea but I would have never thought of it on my own.

Enjoy the weekend with your family!

I used to use a caribiner as my key chain (all throughout high school/having keys, for some reason) cause it was totally easy to clip wherever. I think maybe it was cool for a while to clip your keys to your belt loop on one, so they jangle around all day.

But I still always used my favourite purple caribiner (purchased for me as a souvenir from my stepdad from Salem) as keys until TrueBlood key chains went on sale to like, $3 at my old work (a very popular Canadian bookstore).

Anyways, I love caribiners and totally used to clip my hair elastics into em ALL THE TIME. But now they just litter the bottom of my gym bag. Thanks for the reminder!!

My hair elastics don’t stand a chance. Most of the time mine falls out in my sleep and it is gone by morning, I couldn’t figure out what was going on until I found a stash of them mixed in with my cat’s toys.
I’m going to Salem tomorrow! I’ve never been, so I’m sure it will be interesting. I’m not really into Halloween, but I can get into all that witch trial stuff.
