Heavy Handed

July 17, 2012 by Julie 69 Comments

I was a little heavy handed with the olive oil in the kitchen this evening.

Care for some super-slick sausage, onion and peppers?

When I’ve made Italian sausage with peppers and onions in the past, I let everything cook in the oven. Tonight I cooked everything on the stove top because I wasn’t too hungry when dinnertime rolled around thanks to a later-than-usual afternoon snack and didn’t feel like putting a ton of effort my evening meal. While preparing this dish, I used a little too much olive oil. It was still yummy but a little too oily.

Since I am a VIP member of the clean plate club, I still ate every last bite.

And now, just for fun, how COOL is this?!?!

water float island

I saw this picture on Facebook earlier today and now I am on a mission to find this little place that I’ll call Heaven on Earth. Apparently there’s something similar at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete which means I may be paying them a visit this weekend since I’ll be in the Tampa Bay area for my mom’s birthday and my friend Leah’s bridal shower.

That fun water float also reminds me of another water toy that I’ve longed to find for years… THE BLOB!

the blob heavyweights

If you’ve seen the movie Heavyweights you know what I’m talking about and probably have the same desire to experience The Blob firsthand.

Now I’m off to walk Sadie with Ryan and hopefully begin reading this month’s book club selection!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’m almost positive that lake full of fun is at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. I keep seeing the commercials, and I’m pretty sure that’s it!

That looks so interesting! I’ve never seen a place like that before. I’m not sure I’d want to go but it does look like fun!

Not the blob! At my husband’s 10 year high school reunion there was one. I got on the end of it, thinking just my husband was going to jump on the other end and launch me. Oh no, he and another guy jumped together and I flew SO HIGH that when I landed I was stunned and in so much pain from the impact that my husband had to swim out and get me!!

Sausage, peppers, and onions, in any form, is definitely a favorite I haven’t had in awhile. Now I know what I’m feeling for lunch this week!

Wow these pictures of “the blob” bring back memories! When I was younger I went to overnight camp and we had a blob- just like the one in the picture. I remember we’d all crowd around and watch “duckie” (our 400lbs chef) jump onto the blob as the little girl on the end would go FLYING haha!

And as for that water float island- that is seriously COOL! I don’t care how old I am, I want to go there haha

I saw that water float thingy on the internet and I want one so, so, so bad. Not that I have a private lake to put it in or anything, but it would be pretty amazing. Like seriously amazing!

They have the blob at Lake Aurora Christian Camp & Retreat Center. It’s in Lake Wales. I think that’s pretty close to you…

Basically the entirety of my childhood was spent looking for The Blob. I was also severely disappointed when I went to sleepaway camp and nobody was hiding licorice in the bedpost or candybars in the rafters…

    Hi Julie!

I have a question about your dinners–I’ve been noticing that not all but a lot of your meals contain protein and veggies but not always carbs. Do you try and limit carbs at dinner because you have more throughout the day?

No judgement here! I’m just curious because I usually have at least one complex carb with every mean but I’m trying to lose the last 5-10lbs and I wondered if eliminating carbs at dinner time would help.

    Thanks for your feedback!

Tradewinds is awesome we stayed there last year. Actually they are dog friendly too (for staying). The waterpark is cool and they have a 3 story slide on the beach too.

    Have fun!
