High School Reunion: Yay or Nay?

May 3, 2013 by Julie 99 Comments

Work today went really, really well. I had my first one-on-one time with two new members of our gym and I loved every minute of it.

As I drove to the gym this morning, I was a little nervous for my two meetings, but both new members were so kind, enthusiastic and ready to adopt a new fitness routine. I am excited to be part of their journey!

Workout

A benefit of working at a gym is the ability to sneak in a lunchtime workout without going anywhere!

I began my workout with an elliptical warm up before completing three rounds of a total-body circuit workout from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp. Today’s BBBC workout was tough but awesome. I pushed myself harder than I have at the gym in a while and left feeling accomplished. And hungry!

Lunch

I ate the peanut butter sandwich that I packed and brought to work in between appointments, but I was still hungry when I arrived home. I was in the mood for something sweet and made myself a chocolate peanut butter cup smoothie.

I added a handful of fresh spinach and some frozen strawberries to amp up the nutritional profile of the smoothie and enjoyed every sip. (I promise you can’t taste the spinach!)

I also ate an apple as I was assembling all of the ingredients for my smoothie.

10 Year High School Reunion

Earlier today I received an invite to quite the event on Facebook.

High School Reunion

My 10 year high school reunion! Has it really been 10 years!?

As for whether or not I’m planning to go, I’m not really sure. I think it would be fun if I made a weekend out of it with some of my girlfriends from high school since I’m still very close with them. However, we’ll be together in June and August for my friend Michaela’s bachelorette party and wedding, so I’m not sure traveling for the reunion in September will be feasible since quite a few of us would need to fly to Chicago.

We shall see!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Did you attend your high school reunion/Would you want to attend your high school reunion?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That workout is a goodie, huh? I’m actually planning to re-do it tomorrow. It’s been about a month since my trial run of it in planning…but after hearing you all talk about it has me missing it! YAY for two great client meetings. You’re going to be an awesome trainer. 🙂

I passed on my ten year, it was in Chicago and the airfare was ridiculous. Maybe I’ll go to my 15 or 20.

The president of our class always tries to create little class reunion meet-ups which pop up one my Facebook. Immediately, I delete them haha. For some reason, I don’t believe I’ll ever be able to get myself to go to a class reunion. I’ll see people if I want to see them lol.

I attended my 10 year class reunion last September and had a blast! I actually ended up connecting with a guy that I never even noticed in high school. He and I became really good friends–he recently passed away in February and I’m so glad I got to know him better the last few months of his life.

I”m not sure I would attend my high school reunion, as whenever I go home, it’s like a high school reunion at the bars and I try and avoid them..so I think it would be 10x worse if I went to a reunion!

You should go. I went to both my 10th and 20th and had a blast! People change, not all, but most. And, go with your girlfriends. You’ll reconnect with new people and those who remember you, will remember things that you have long forgotten. 🙂

I didn’t attend my high school reunion because I grew up and went to high school in Australia, but now live in America so I wasn’t gonna make the trip just for that. However, even if I did live in Australia, I don’t think I would have gone. I am in contact with everyone who I want to be in contact with already 🙂

I did! And I wrote about it too 🙂 I was nervous because I’m from Nebraska, where most people are married and with children by this point. Living in NY, I’m a bit off of this timeline. Luckily, it turned out to be a great experience. It was so nice reconnecting with people – I would definitely recommend going!

Uggh lol I went to my reunion last year, it was so lame. I still have a lot of friends from high school, but I realised once attending that everyone else I wasn’t really interested in catching up with. Guess it depends on how much you loved high school. My best friend had a blast catching up with everyone, but I’m really more of a quality of friends not quantity type.

I make a variation of that smoothie all the time. So good! And no, you can’t taste the spinach!

I am definitely not going to my high school reunion. But that’s just me. I wasn’t really connected to anyone in high school other than people I’m still friends with. And I don’t need a reuinion for that.

Sounds like you’ll be busy anyway, so if there’s no one you’re dying to see, I’d say skip it.

I have mine this summer and just got the invite that someone is planning it. (Our class pres is a boy and there have been bets as to whether we’d even have a reunion) I haven’t decided yet. We will see what they plan and for when. I’m from a small town and did not particularly enjoy high school overall. I live within driving distance, so it will really come down to whether I have other plans, who else is going, and how I feel when it comes down to RSVP. While I have a few friends I stay in touch with and it might be good to see a few others, I am not sure it will be worth it in the end.

I just went to my 10 year HS reunion last weekend! I wasn’t sure how it would be but I thought I should go, so I went with one of my girlfriends from high school who is still a close friend. It was SO fun. Like way more fun than I thought it would be! Kindof an interesting experience, because I still see these people all the time on my Facebook News Feed, so even if we weren’t really close back in the day, we had so much to chat about. Everyone admitted to a little Facebook stalking every once in awhile (haha). It really was like getting together with friends you don’t see very often; we all agreed it didn’t seem like it had been 10 years since we’d last been together.

I’m still a few years off, but I Bet I will go when the time comes around. I’m still best friends with a lot of people from high school and my parents still live there, so it would be like going home =). A lot of my friends still live in the general area (or at least the state), so it wouldn’t be hard for them to travel, just me!

My 10 year reunion was last year. It was the same weekend as my sisters wedding so I didn’t go to the reunion. I don’t think I would have gone either way. I didn’t stay in close contact with many people from high school and the people I did stay in touch with weren’t going. Wasn’t high on my list of priorities.

My husband and I met in high school and we went to our 10 year high school reunion together as well as our 20 year high school reunion! It was fun to catch up with old friends that we spent so many years with. The people we went to high school with we had grown up with so there were a lot of years invested in those people aside from the 4 years. How about you…did you know the people you went to high school with before you started 9th grade?

Our class tried to have one big one but it ended up being cancelled, so lots of people had smaller get togethers. I arranged a girls nigh with about 15 girls from high school and we went out for the night! It was a blast and I loved it was more intimate and you could catch up with people you were actually friends with and still are.

That’s so cool, already 2 potential clients! 🙂 And I have mixed feelings regarding my 10 year high school reunion! I used to think that I didn’t want to go, but now as the years approach I think I do want to attend and see how [most] everyone has changed for the better. That’s one of the things that really blessed me the past few years. The craziest rebels just completely turned their lives around and I couldn’t be happier to be able to witness that! 😀

I didn’t go to mine, but then…I didn’t have the best time in high school. It wasn’t important to me to see those people I left behind, since I heard that during most high school reunions people just end up asking you what you do for a living then tell you all about what they do…its more of a comparison of whose life turned out better. I prefer to spend time with people who are important in my life right now. Plus, I am friends with all the people I want to be friends with on FB. But, if you had a lot of friends in high school then I can see how going to yours would be fun. Either way, don’t make a decision you will regret!
