It’s a Tie

June 14, 2011 by Julie 86 Comments

When Ryan arrived home from work this evening, we leashed up Sadie for a 20-minute walk around our neighborhood. The temperatures in Central Florida feel like an oven at the moment and the air is thick and humid. Needless to say, when we arrived home from our walk, making a hot dinner did not sound appealing.

A smoothie, on the other hand, sounded fantastic!

In the mix (for one smoothie):

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 frozen banana
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder

About 30 minutes after we were done drinking our respective smoothies, we felt a little cooler and downed a plate of Alexia sweet potato fries with ketchup.

It’s hard to believe these babies come out of a bag in the freezer. They honestly taste like restaurant-style fries!

Our fries were consumed over an intense game of Scrabble.

Believe it or not, we got through all the letters and tied. We both had relatively low scoring games, but at least we were on the same page!

Playing Scrabble this evening reminded me just how much I love game nights. When Ryan and I eventually have a family, I hope we have kids who enjoy playing Scattergories, Taboo, Cranium, Uno… you know basically every game ever made. (Except Monopoly. Hate that one.)

Questions of the Evening

  • What was your favorite game when you were a kid?
  • What is your favorite game now?

When I was little, my favorite game was Candy Land. It was my goal in life to be Queen Frostine. As an adult, I love Taboo and Scattergories!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

My favourite game when I was a kid was CANDY LAND!!! I died for that game.

My fave word games have always been Boggle and Scrabble, hands down. I love playing Scrabble with my boyfriend because I feel we are equally skilled and the game can go either way.

But my fave game of all time is Pictionary! I can’t get enough! I could play it day and night.

My husband and I play Scrabble quite a bit, and have even been playing Words with Friends on our i Phones.

I am totally cheese-bally and want to instill family game nights when we have kids, too. A family fav is Catch Phrase. It always makes an appearance at Christmas!

Hi Julie! I read your blog daily 🙂 I’ve noticed that you use protein powder very often for your delicious looking smoothies. I have heard of a lot of negative effects of using the powder (specifically whey powder). Have you read into this at all?

My favorite game as a child was Monopoly. I was the biggest sore loser on Earth! lol. My family would go on and on about the fits I used to throw. My current favorite is Scrabble. My boyfriend’s family got me hooked on it. They even make up “Scrabble Names” that they go by instead of their normal names. lol. Mine was Chai Queen.
