Loud Morning

November 2, 2011 by Julie 45 Comments

The locksmith came by our place this morning to change all of the locks on our house. Sadie was not a fan of his drill and proceeded to bark every time he started drilling.

locks 005

Drill noise + Barking dog + Korn’s “Freak on a Leash” blasting from my computer (yes, I have that song on my iTunes) = One heck of a loud morning

(Does any one else remember the “Freak on a Leash” music video with the bullet? So cool! I remember that one from the days when TRL was still on MTV!)

Even though a barking dog and the obnoxious sound of a drill in my house weren’t exactly comforting, enjoyable sounds, I’ve always preferred a loud house to a quiet one.

I do the dishes and clean with music blaring. I type up nearly even blog post with Pandora in the background. I like a noisy home!

Speaking of lots of noise, if you’re looking for some great techno music to add to your workout playlists, definitely check out the PBF Facebook page where a bunch of you shared awesome song suggestions for my upcoming half marathon playlist.

Lunch

Today’s lunch was hot and cheesy.

Five Bamboo hoodie 006

I made myself a quesadilla with two whole wheat tortillas, shredded cheese and black beans.

One thing I love about making quesadillas on the stovetop? When the cheese oozes out and gets slight crispy I think it tastes so good! Like cheese chips or something. Oh yes!

I’m hoping to cruise through a some assignment edits today before putting together my half marathon playlist this evening. I currently have about 10 songs on the playlist and need more than double that amount!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

that quesadilla looks so good! I understand what you say about a silent house: if i’m home alone and not studying music is a must, otherwise I’ll have to listen to all the little cracks and noises my house makes…creepy, especially if home alone at night!

This post made me laugh out loud. I totally agree, a loud home is so comforting for some reason. I have twins, and my family and friends are constantly coming through my house.
My favorite time of the day is the morning when there are sounds of cartoons, musical toys, people talking over breakfast, vacuums, and laughter!!

I’m the same way – I always have music or tv on in the background. Unless I am studying or trying to really focus on reading, then I like it silent because I swear I have ADD sometimes. Ha. I really have to concentrate on focusing on what I’m doing when I’m trying to read or study.

I love stovetop quesadillas because of the melty cheese oozing out too – yum!

As you can imagine, our home is perpetually noisy. And I love it! Although the quiet of nap time always is nice too.

I’m working on my playlist and adding some new songs this afternoon. Need some good ones so I’m checking out your page.

ohhh my gosh I love black bean quesadillas! I went through a phase where I would only eat those. You should try and make it as a pizza (with pizza sauce and cheese, of course) and add corn, spinach, whatever..its so delicious and tastes like a quesadilla and pizza..best of both worlds. 🙂

The cheese crisp is the best part of the quesadilla! Have you tried Parmesan crisps?? You basically sprinkle shredded Parmesan cheese on a baking sheet and back for a few mins until the cheese melts together and gets crispy. Break apart and eat…. SOOOO good!

I too need noise around me. All day I have Pandora on on my headphones and at home I turn on the TV for background noise or turn on the radio. Too much quiet is distracting!

I love the cheese crispies! Have you ever tried putting paremesan cheese on a cookie sheet and baking it to a crisp? It’s amazing! And makes a great garnish for mashed potatoes. Yum!

My house is so noisey all the time with people coming and going and two very vocal dogs that I really enjoy the quite sometimes. One thing I cannot stand however is a quite car, I need music on all the time or someone to talk to or I would probably fall asleep, driving can be so boring somtimes!

I always bark too whenever strange people come over or strange noises are created in my house. I definitely don’t like the sound of drilling, and the vacuum scares the living crap out of me. Hey, I’m only 3.5 pounds, that dang thing could suck me up.

Veggie quesadillas are one of my favorite things for lunch! We have a little Mexican place by my work and the only thing I will ever order from there is a veggie quesadilla (black beans, and sauteed green peppers and onions please!) + a side of guacamole. I probably have that for lunch twice a week and it never gets old. Your homemade one looks delicious… I am a horrendous cook, but perhaps I will try it myself!

True story: I used to make myself a snack when I was in elementary school by simply melting cheese in a pan. It would be slightly crispy, but also gooey! I think I got this idea from my sister’s friend who taught us to melt a piece of American cheese on a plate in the microwave. My mom HATED when we did that because it would be so hard to scrub the cheese off of the plate…oops!

I remember that song being on TRL! I miss those days. I remember rushing to get home from school in time to watch TRL. I was actually on TRL on the street requesting a video! The next day was the first day of school and I felt like a celebrity. Everyone kept teling me they saw me on tv! 😉

That quesadilla looks so good. I love that about cheese also. Yum! 🙂

You can’t hurry love – Phil Collins (just try it)
Hot Hot Hot – Barefoot man
    9 to 5 – Dolly Parton
Me and Bobby Mcgee – Janis Joplin
    Magalenha – Sergio Mendes
    Raise your glass – Pink!
    So human – Lady Sovereign
Keep on ridin’ – DJ Champion
Just get up and dance – Afrika Bambaataa
Jump – Flo rida Ft Nelly Furtado
The crossroads – Bone thugs n harmony (90’s classic!)
Citizen of the planet – Syndicate of LAW ft Ya kid K
Mundian To bach ke – Panjabi
    Bouger bouger – Magic system
Let me clear my throat – Dj cool (90’s classic again!)

I know, I’m weird and those are random! But it works with my running tempo!

The findings of the report you mentioned are interesting to me. I initially went to one school away from home and I found I actually LOST weight… I know go figure right??!! LOL. But I then transferred back to a school in my hometown and the weight tapered off so who knows??!! Thanks for the info though 🙂
