Lululemon Springtime Favorites

March 24, 2015 by Julie 92 Comments

This blog post is sponsored by lululemon through ShopStyle. I feel very grateful for the opportunity to review some of their latest fitness apparel and thank you all very much for your support surrounding sponsored posts. I very much appreciate it!

Oh lululemon, I don’t know how you continue to make the cutest workout clothes, but season after season, you do!

Kiss for Dog

(Inspire Tight II Mesh Tights + Think Fast Pullover + Fringe Fighter Headband)

Earlier this month, I received an email from lululemon with an invitation to try out some of their latest apparel and I’m pretty sure I took no less than 10 seconds to respond.

As a group exercise instructor, personal trainer and fitness lover, I wear workout clothing all day every day and jumped at the opportunity to add some functional, adorable and flattering workout apparel to my wardrobe… Especially since the majority of my previous workout tops and sports bras were quickly becoming too tight and a handful of my capris and leggings were beginning to dig into my sides more and more as each week of my pregnancy passed.

I felt like a kid on Christmas morning as I selected a few new tops, crops, pants and bras. With so many colors, patterns, cuts and styles out there, the choices were plentiful and I felt very grateful to have the opportunity to choose a few gorgeous pieces of apparel to replenish the smaller and more form-fitting workout clothes I am no longer able to comfortably wear.

Here’s a breakdown + review of some of my latest lululemon favorites!

Lululemon Springtime Favorites

When it comes to workout tops, I am a tank top lover through and through. I sweat a ton when I teach spinning classes and gravitate toward lightweight, breathable tops like the 105 F Singlet tank.

Lululemon Blue Crops

It’s long enough to cover most of my booty (and that’s saying something since I have a very long torso) and I’m hopeful it will be a great tank I can wear as my baby bump grows since it’s not restricting and very comfortable. I paired it with the strappy Energy Bra (love the extra coverage in the front!) and the In The Flow crop in heathered pigment blue.

(Free To Be Bra + Energy Bra)

The crops are a personal favorite because of the thick, forgiving waistband. They are a pregnant woman’s dream, as they don’t dig into my sides at all and simply hug my body without constricting my belly. Heaven!

To add to my desire to expand the number of flowy tanks in my fitness apparel wardrobe, I also picked up the mint green Yogi Racerback tank that I’ve been living in!

IMG_0155

It’s soft and thin without feeling flimsy and currently on sale! (Since lululemon’s sale items never last long, I also think the the Modern Racerback and What The Sport tanks look quite similar.) It’s been a great tank for every workout I do on a regular basis – spinning, barre, strength training, fast-past circuits. The tank moves with my body and keeps me cool. Win, win.

I was also fortunate enough to pick up one of lululemon’s Vinyasa Scarves which I was especially excited about since I’ve heard a handful of women rave about it at my local Pure Barre studio.

lululemon scarf, pants and top

The scarf can be worn 10 different ways and while I typically wear it looped around my neck twice, I’ve pulled it over my head to shield my hair from the rain and love unbuttoning it at home to wear as a comfy shrug as well. It’s great for chilly outdoor activities during the fall, winter and spring but I also really like simply throwing it on top of some of my more casual outfits to run around town!

In the above photo I paired the scarf with the silver Rest Less Pullover top (also currently on sale). I selected this pullover after reading tons of positive reviews online that highlighted its flattering fit and thick, durable material. During the winter, I was in the market for a top that would be a great outdoor running or hiking top – one that’s warmer than a basic long-sleeve tee but not as hot as a jacket – and this top seemed like the perfect choice!

lululemon clothing

I’m also wearing a pair of my beloved Wunder Under pants. They are so smoothing over the booty and way more flattering than your average pair of black leggings. In the past I’ve purchased the reversible Wunder Unders to get more bang for my buck and this time around I did the same and selected pair of reversible Wunder Unders with a feminine floral band on one side and a plain black band on the other.

lululemon floral wunder under

Love!

The final look I put together centered around a pair of mesh tights that immediately caught my eye.

Lululemon Mesh Pants

The Inspire Tight II is made with Luxtreme® technical sweat-wicking fabric and offers support without causing friction or chafing.

The mesh detailing and cloud-print waistband are not lost on me since I think they make a simple pair of gray tights 10 times cuter!

Lululemon Mesh Tight

And I love the little zipper pockets – they’re perfect for stashing a house key during our morning and evening walks with Sadie.

The thick headband I’m wearing is the Fringe Fighter headband and I was honestly a little surprised by how much I liked it when I slipped it on! I wear a headband almost every single time I work out to fight flyaway hairs and typically gravitate toward skinny headbands, but I really liked the way this one stayed in place and kept the hair and upper forehead sweat out of my face when I wore it to teach spinning.

Kiss for Dog

Sadie loves it, too! Haha!

Thank you again to lululemon and ShopStyle for the opportunity try out some wonderful new fitness apparel. I am very grateful!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Do you have any lululemon favorites that you swear by?

Lululemon’s Wunder Unders are the jam but I also really, really like their workout tanks, mostly because they’re flattering, feminine, functional and usually quite long, too!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I can never justify the price of Lulu, so I have never gotten anything. I did win a bunch of yoga stuff that I was never going to use, so I exchanged it for credit since I spent so much time in there trying to decide. I figured I wouldn’t be in there that often so I wanted to pick the PERFECT thing, but I just left with store credit haha.

So I have no purchased anything Lululemon yet, however, I have heard nothing but amazing things about their clothing.

My only concern is the pants/crops/etc. I have not been able to find any workout bottoms that I don’t have to continue to pull up every step I take when I run, play soccer, or any other exercise. Everything always seems to slide down, not in I am too big way, just slides.

    Any suggestions?

I think a lot of their clothes are super cute, but I just can’t give them my money when they have made so many women feel bad about their bodies (statements by the CEO about how some women’s bodies are just not made for their pants).

I would rather support female positive brands like Oiselle that lift women up rather than bring them down.

I have never bought anything from Lululemon … but it’s probably because I spend less than $15 on everything I buy, since I know I’m going to be sweating in it constantly. With that being said, it might have to be next on my list, since I truthfully haven’t heard anything negative about it! Thanks for all the suggestions!

For my birthday last month, my husband took me to Lulu to pick out my first pair of lulu pants and they happen to be the same grey mesh leggings you have. I LOVE them so much. I wear them seriously all the time, so I feel as though they were definitely a good investment, as I was hesitant to spend that much at first!

I have the Run Swiftly Longsleeve in three colors and wear them all winter long! I also love the Run Stuff Your Bra sports bras, but apparently they discontinued those 🙁 They are amazing for runs because I can stuff my key, tissues, and ID/CC/cash for an iced coffee if necessary, and be off without needing any gear with pockets – not an issue in winter, but definitely so in summer.

Lulu is very much a “maybe someday…” brand for me! I hear such rave reviews of their clothing, but that price tag is just too much for a grad student. I love brands like Zella (from Nordstrom) that are still high end but a liiiittle bit easier on the wallet :).

The only pants of theirs I’ve noticed were somewhat see through were an older pair of running tights I have (I cannot remember the exact name) but apparently they were meant more for running and not yoga, barre, etc. — I just never wear them to those classes and save them for running, spinning, etc. I have personally never had an issue with my Wunder Unders being see through!

The black one looks so cute on you – actually everything does but I especially love that last outfit. My coworker who is also a yoga instructor has said great things about their yoga mat and I think I’m going to pick one up this week – they are kind of pricy but they’re thick and antimicrobial and she says totally worth the price. After reading this I have a feeling the mat won’t be the only thing I pick up while I’m there haha.

So many people dislike lululemon, but lulu and UA are the only brands that fit and last long enough for me to justify their price tags, so I’d let them get away with a lot 😉 I’m obsessed with the 105f singlet! I have it in a few colors, and some I’ve sized up with for an extra baggy fit, and others I’ve sized down. It’s such a versatile top! I like their running shorts too, but I’ve yet to buy a pair of yoga pants!! Are they something I should buy in store the first time instead of online? I loathe fitting rooms, lol.

I think you could probably safely order them online in your usual size! I feel like there’s more leniency in sizing with yoga pants than their tops if that makes sense! And, if they don’t work out, you can definitely exchange them for the right size in the store, which I’ve done before w/one of their jackets!

I am not a registered dietitian. My blog is simply a documentation of my life. The views I express are mine alone, based on my own experiences, and should not be taken as medical advice. I DO NOT post everything I eat. Though I am a certified personal trainer, the workouts I post may not be right for you.
