Maxed Out

December 16, 2011 by Julie 57 Comments

This post title could mean many things.

  • I did so many reps at the gym that I maxed out my muscles.
  • I bought too many Christmas gifts and maxed out my credit card.

False and false (thankfully!).

Today I realized that one hour is the maximum amount of time I like to spend at the gym. It seems like right when I realize I’ve been there for an hour, my brain shuts down and says, “Time to go!”

I can almost always get in and out of the gym in 60 minutes or less, but sometimes Ryan takes a little longer when he does a 20 minute cardio warm up before his strength training workout with me.

After 20 minutes of cardio and a solid upper body workout, I had been at the gym for 55 minutes and was done. I looked at Ryan and he said he needed a little bit longer, so rather than stand around in the lobby reading magazines like I usually do when I wait for him, I decided to get in some stretching. Much more productive!

How long do you usually workout for at the gym before you mentally check out of a workout?

Breakfast

Today’s morning meal included an egg sandwich made with a toasted whole wheat English muffin, two fried eggs, muenster cheese and raspberry jelly.

My taste buds never tire of this combination.

I’m the same way! I’m done in an hour too, unless I’m doing the classes which if I do yoga, I’ll stick around for strength training since to get a solid workout. =)
P.S. Breakfast looks intriguing! I still haven’t tried the egg and jam combo but can’t wait to!

I can do 90 minutes, but only if it involves a couple of different things, like a bodypump class then eliptical, or a 30min ab class then yoga. Otherwise I battle to stay on the eliptical for more than half an hour!

[…] Breakfast: It’s no secret I love egg sandwiches, but I’ve been getting kind of sick of the same old sandwich, so I tried doing something different today and tried it Peanut Butter Fingers style. […]
