My New Voice

June 13, 2011 by Julie 71 Comments

For those of you who slack on blog reading over the weekend like I do, it’s time to get caught up:

  • I almost stole a sea turtle
  • Ryan almost got castrated

Yep, I think that’s all you missed.

Workout

Today’s workout began as all Monday morning workouts do around here: With a BodyPump class!

Prior to the class, I completed 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill beside Ryan (15 min. incline walking, 5 min. jogging) and then felt the burn in my muscles for a good 45 minutes. I think my favorite tracks in BodyPump are the bicep and shoulder tracks. They’re always killer… in a good way!

Breakfast

After the gym, I took Sadie on a walk while chatting with my friend Merri on the phone. I miss our morning walks! She’s off in New York now like a real grown up and I think there’s a serious void in Sadie’s heart now that she’s gone. Sadie would whimper and pee herself every time she saw Merri! Her move has been hard on our whole family.

When my virtual walk with Merri and real-life walk with Sadie was complete, it was time for breakfast!

One meal I didn’t want for breakfast was a cheese and jam sandwich. Shocking, I know! After eating that particular meal for four meals in the past two days, I’m a little jammed out. Maybe for lunch today? Winking smile

At the gym this morning, I watched the weather forecast on the news, which said, in big bold words, “A Hot One.” Today’s temperatures are supposed to reach 95 degrees, so I figured I’d get a jump start on beating the heat with a cold smoothie.

In the mix:

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 c. almond milk
  • 1 tbsp. almond butter
  • 1 pinch xanthan gum
  • 1 handful fresh spinach

So refreshing!

My New Voice

Ryan and I are pretty good road trip buddies. Sure, I pass out from time to time due to my severe highway hypnosis, but when I’m awake we have a great time playing all sorts of car games like the game of threes, 20 questions and more. Yesterday, on our road trip home from Jekyll Island, we posed many different questions to each other, with one being, “If you could have any person’s singing voice, whose voice would you want?”

I suggested Michael Bublé  as the voice Ryan should choose, and he quickly agreed. That man has the voice of a crystal-clear angel and sang the song we chose as our first dance song at our wedding. An easy pick!

Selecting the woman’s voice I would want was a little harder. There are so many amazingly talented women singers out there from Celine Dion to Mariah Carey to Christina Aguilera.

But then I remembered my girl.

Miss Whitney Houston!

I’ll take her voice, puh-lease. And all of her amazing songs, too. There’s no topping “I’m Every Woman” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” I remember when my grandparents gave me my first boom box for Christmas. I had the Bodyguard soundtrack and would listen to Whitney non-stop. She’s so incredible and her voice is clear, emotional, powerful and moving. I’ll take it!

Question of the Day

If you could have one singer’s voice, whose voice would you most like to have? Which male singer do you think has the best voice these days?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I would want Rachel Berry’s voice from Glee. I think she’s such an incredible singer! And best male singer is still Michael Buble in my opinion. I have all his albums, but I’m also very partial to Blake Shelton, who has an amazing voice for country music.

I love that song. Now I’m going to sing “I wanna dance with somebody..” all day long (hopefully not out loud – coworkers may not like that).

I wish I had Carrie Underwood or Mariah Carrey’s voice. As for dude voices – ummm… hard to say. I think that Incubus guy is pretty good, I suppose.

    Happy Monday!

I love Buble!! He was our first dance song, too… and in concert, he’s unbelievable. If I wasn’t already married to the man of my dreams… 😉

I might choose Mariah Carey. She’s a cheese ball, but sings like a baby angel!

Female voice: Adelle or Faith Hill. Have you heard Adelle’s “Rollin in the Deep”?

    * I think Michael Buble has the all-time best male voice out there! I was listening to his music last night at a winery I went to, and it just resonated throughout so crystal clear…magic 🙂

Right now, I’m pretty obsessed with Adele and every time I listen to her CD, I wish I sounded as raw and emotional as she does. She just blows me away!

If my BF had the voice of Darren Criss (from Glee), I would be in heaven.

Following the recent trend and saying Adele. Love her. Love love love. My boyfriend makes fun of me when I sing because I “think I sound just like them….” No reservations.

Also, my bf hates (with a burning passion) Michael Buble… however he LOVES James Blunt. I can’t even begin to understand this…

Hmm…I would pick Kelly Clarkson’s voice. She can do a screaming/raspy thing that I really like.

Although, I think range-wise, Christina Aguliera’s got it going on.

Best male voice has always been Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots for me. It’s so sexy! (Probably just showed my age with that one.)

Absolutely just kidding, probably (if I were a little smaller) the cute twangy voice of Taylor Swift. As I am now, probably Beyonce’s. She always sounds like she’s in charge!

This is such a difficult question! Hmm..I’m not sure who would I choose. I think I might go with Carrie Underwood or Beyonce.

As for women…hmmm. I’m going between the more classically amazing voices like Idina Menzel and Charlotte Church, and the pop singers like Adele with Beyonce who sound so unique. It’s a tough call! I actually sang in high school but my voice isn’t very special, haha. It’s just really high.
