NTC Beach Legs

March 20, 2014 by Julie 73 Comments

Hello, hello!

I hope you are having a lovely afternoon.

My afternoon was as lovely as it can be when you have an annual women’s exam on the agenda. I like my doctor a lot but I am still waiting for the day when I feel even 10 percent more comfortable once I slip into that paper gown. It’s never a fun experience, but everything seemed to check out okay and I was on my way a little more than an hour later. (There was a serious wait time before I was brought back to an exam room and I entertained myself by catching up on some emails on my phone.)

Work + Workout

Work today went well! My TRX class was the highlight of the day for me since I put some time into planning a new shakeup workout for the class.

As for my own workout (I don’t do the TRX workout with the class which I explain further in this post), I kept things short and sweet since I wanted to have time to shower before my appointment. After 10 minutes on the elliptical, I rounded out my workout with a 15-minute Nike Training Club (NTC) workout and some additional leg exercises in the weight room.

Nike Training Club Beach Legs

Today’s NTC workout was the Beach Legs workout, which is quickly becoming a go-to workout for me on days when I want to work my legs but I’m not in the mood to pound out tons of heavy squats, deadlifts or lunges. It’s awesome and if you’re looking for a quality leg workout that doesn’t require weights and keeps things moving, I highly recommend it!

Lunch

Before I headed out to my doctor’s appointment, I grabbed lunch in the break room. (<—I accidentally typed “weight room” at first. Now that would be a treat.)

My salad was enjoyed out of a Tupperware container, but since I made the same salad for dinner last night, I’ll share last night’s photo with you instead since it looks slightly more appealing.

watermelon feta salad

Feta + Watermelon + Arugula + Olive Oil + Salt + Pepper

feta watermelon salad

I’m pretty sure that is my all-time favorite salad. It’s so simple but so, so good. A summertime staple for sure!

Since I am done with work for the day, I am planning to run a few errands before heading home. I’m hoping to swing by Ulta to pick up a heat protectant for my hair. When I had my hair done for my sister’s wedding, the woman who did my hair seriously stressed the importance of a heat protectant, especially since my hair is so thin. I should’ve asked her for brand recommendations because I have no idea what I should buy, so if any of you have any recommendations for heat protectants you use and love, please let me know.

See ya later!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Oooh I’ve never had watermelon on a salad before! That sounds super good! Can’t wait til watermelon is in season and in stores again in Wisconsin 🙂

And I love the leg workouts on NTC! Short, but sometimes not so sweet when I’m sore afterwards! haha

My go-to has been JF frizz-ease for 12 years (wow, that makes me feel old). I didn’t even think to list it because it’s so much a part of my routine I don’t think of it as a protectant!

I adore Moroccan Oil – I can’t live without it! It’s not cheap but you only need a teeny blob, so a bottle lasts ages. Plus it smells good and is natural.

One thing that helps me feel better in those little paper gowns is to wear a zip up hoodie. It keeps me warmer and more comfortable! Since it zips up it is easy to remove if necessary.

Looks delish! I’ll be picking up some watermelon for my salad on the way home! I love Its a Ten or the trusty old Biosilk, but if you have fine hair then you may want to stay away from oils. I also have Redken Clear Moisture polishing prep leave in… smells amazing! I have fine hair but lots of it and these are my go to’s 🙂

That salad looks phenom! As for heat protectant sprays, I currently use two: Redken Heat Glide for blow drying (http://bit.ly/1iHDTbb) and CHI Iron Guard for dry hair when I use the straightener or curling wand (http://bit.ly/1dukHZo). Both can be purchased at Ulta, Target, Walmart or even at convenient stores like CVS or Walgreens! 🙂

Agreed – love the Tresemme heat protection spray! They call it Heat Defence here in England but it looks like the same product. It mists on really lightly so it’s easy to comb through your whole head of hair without using too much.

I swear by Pureology’s Heat Spray Product. Normally, I don’t spend this much on hair product, but since it’s a spray, I can make it last several months. This is the one I have used since December (and I’m only halfway through the bottle), and I’ve noticed a considerable difference in the health of my hair. (link below)

I would love to learn TRX. I’ve seen classes before, but they always start while I’m still at work. And my office actually invested in a TRX system. It comes with a book, but I’ll be honest … trying to maneuver while flipping a page around isn’t easy. HA! I wish gym classes would sell video memberships where I could plug into a class through my iPad and remotely participate. Wouldn’t that be great???

That is my FAVORITE salad as well! So good! Waiting till the watermelon selection is a little better here in Georgia before I get it! I have recently started using the Moroccan oil heat protectant spray! I find it doesn’t make my blonde hair greasy looking (which can happen with the plain moroccan oil), but it still has the amazing smell of it! I don’t think you can buy their products at Ulta or Sephora, but many hair salons have it. It’s $28, but it’s a big spray bottle and will last you a while!

That salad looks delicious! I’ve heard wonderful things about that combination for months now but have never gotten around to buying the ingredients for it… with it being the first day of spring today maybe I’ll get around to it sometime this week.

I’ve never used a heat protector either, but when I informed my hairdresser of this a week ago she was absolutely horrified haha. From her reaction I guess it does make a difference! I went out and bought one after that. I’ve been using Aussie’s hair insurance heat protectant, but I’m not sure if it’s any good just kinda picked it at random at Shopper’s Drug Mart.
