PBF Gift Guide for Her

December 7, 2018 by Julie 14 Comments

Good morning and happy Friday, my friends! I hoped to get a chance to type up my usual Things I’m Loving Friday post to share with you guys today but time got away from me this week. Rather than save the gift guide I worked on earlier this week that I initially planned to share on the blog next week, I figured I’d go ahead and share that with you guys today instead. I mean I’m pretty much loving everything in this gift guide so I figured it was a decent swap. Plus, I don’t know about you guys, but I could definitely use a little extra time to shop for my loved ones! Today’s PBF gift guide for her features gift ideas for the women in your life — best friends, mothers, grandmothers, daughters, aunts, sisters, cousins, nieces — I hope there’s a little something for everyone below!

And just in case you missed my first gift guide of the season, here it is for those who might be looking for some budget-friendly gift ideas: PBF Gift Guide: Under $50

I hope you find something below that will work well as a gift for someone you care about this holiday season. Have a great weekend, my friends!

Gift Guide: For Her

  • Typographic Art

We are in the process of trying to find something to hang above our living room mantle and I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve spent way too much time browsing through various typographic art in search of the perfect thing to hang in this space. All of this browsing lead me to about a million great sign gift ideas so I figured they should make my gift guide this year. Whether your loved one might enjoy something comforting, spiritual, funny or inspirational, there’s a sign out there for just about everything and the options are gorgeous! I love Minted‘s selection and of course there are no shortage of beautiful signs available on Etsy, like the one featured above from the RootednGroundedHome shop, many of which you can personalize.

  • Silk Pillowcase

File this one under an item I have a feeling many women wouldn’t think to purchase for themselves but might appreciate! Silk pillowcases seem to be getting a lot of hype these days for everything from reducing fine lines, breakouts and facial wrinkles (yes, really!) to helping reduce friction between your skin and hair against the pillow, equating to less breakage and split ends. Sign me up!  Prices vary on these a lot from this $21 option on Amazon (900+ great reviews) to the Slip pillowcase which seems to be the high-end choice.

  • Personalized Jewelry

I think I have some form of personalized jewelry on my gift guide every year but I cannot help myself because I’m always drawn to delicate jewelry that also has some kind of meaning. Whether it be your loved one’s initials, their children’s names, the name of their spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend or even the latitude/longitude of a meaningful place or a necklace featuring their home state, I love the idea of giving someone a simple piece of jewelry that seems a little personal.

Some favorites: Cursive Name Ring (stackable with multiple names) / Personalized Skinny Stackable Band (I am coveting a pair of these thin bands with my boys’ names on them!) / Tiny Initial Necklace / Personalized State Necklace

  • Cross Stitch Family Portrait

I absolutely love this gift idea for grandparents, a newlywed couple or a family who may have just welcomed a new baby or fur baby into the family. Etsy has many wonderful options from simple cross stitch portraits to more elaborate designs. (I personally love the look of the portraits from the LeaCo Etsy shop pictured above.)

  • Throw Blanket or Weighted Blanket

Is it just me or can you never have enough cozy throw blankets? It’s a gift I love to give because it just feels like you’re giving away a cozy surprise that someone can enjoy when they need to curl up on the couch at the end of a long day. Even better: Gift a throw blanket along with a new holiday mug and some of your favorite hot cocoa. We’ve had this blanket from Pottery Barn for years and I love the way one side is a beautiful cable knit while the other side is a cozy faux sheepskin. And this Barefoot Dreams Cozy Throw looks heavenly! Barefoot Dreams makes the softest, coziest sweaters and cardigans (<– another great gift idea! I LOVE mine!) and they have the comfy-cozy material down to an art.

For a different take on a traditional throw blanket, consider a weighted blanket. These blankets are all over the place right now and people seem to love the way they apply gentle pressure over your body to help promote relaxation. Many also rave about their ability to help with sleep and reduce stress. Yes please!

  • Lambs Ear or Magnolia Wreath

Confession: This is making my gift guide this year because it’s on my personal wish list. How gorgeous are these wreaths? I love them for both indoor and outdoor decor and I’m dying for one to put on display in our built-in book shelf in our living room. I love that these wreaths are simple but beautiful and don’t look overwhelmingly artificial. The magnolia wreaths with the best reviews are a splurge item for sure but there are options out there for some lower-cost versions that might be worth looking into.

  • Cozy Fleece

Like a new throw blanket, a new cozy fleece is an item I think everyone appreciates! Perfect for cold winter months and everything from lounging around the house to running errands, a comfortable fleece is a great go-to gift item.

Here are a few that popped out at me: This $26 fleece from Amazon (I have this in black and love it — It’s the knock-off version of the Abercrombie fleece that basically blew up on Instagram this fall), Zella Cozy Fleece Bomber Jacket (I want this one in the olive green/gray color), Double Fleece Hoodie (I just wanna curl up in this one!), Sherpa Funnel-Neck Hoodie (perfect to pair with leggings, sneakers and a slouchy beanie), Pullover Hoodie (love the extra long length of this Old Navy find)

Additional Gift Ideas

  • Thrive Market Membership (Great for those interested in healthy food/cooking!)
  • Fitbit Versa (The latest and greatest Fitbit!)
  • State-Specific Homesick Candles (Perfect for family/friends who may have moved away)
  • Lululemon Align Jogger (The jogger version of my legging obsession)
  • Capri Blue Soap + Lotion Caddy (Everyone’s favorite candle scent in soap + lotion form!)
  • 2019 Planner
  • Rolling Spinner Luggage (Love every color of this one, especially the rose)
  • Yeti 20-Ounce Rambler (The best size for on-the-go hot coffee or tea)
  • Beauty Blender (The only way I apply concealer!)
  • Nordstrom Moonlight Pajamas (Best pajamas EVER)
  • Diffuser + Essential Oils (This affordable diffuser is on my list for our living room)

Are your Align leggings holding up? I have two pairs that I really love but they are both getting lots of pulls all over. Granted I wore them nonstop through pregnancy and continue to do so, but just curious about the long term quality. Thanks, and happy weekend!!

Sooo I have one pair with pilling that I got caught on Ryder’s car seat a few times — the others are doing well but I am so careful with them! I never dry them and wash them separate from other things (I usually wash them with all my workout clothes that don’t have any zippers or velcro, etc.) They do seem to be high maintenance in terms of workout leggings but they’re just so darn comfortable that I cannot help but love them! I’ve also had a few people chime in who work for lululemon who say that depending on the store/circumstances some will actually let you exchange/return them if you have any issues! I’m not sure how the joggers compare since I don’t own them but I’m hoping to try them soon!

I have a few aligns and I do the same as Julie – I baby them. Wash on gentle cycle, only line dry always. I did just return one pair because of a snag and lululemon was more than helpful with my return even though it’s been a few months. They offered me a giftcard for the snagged pair. I think they’re pretty aware that the fabric is too easily messed up but I’m thinking they can’t really make them more rugged (haha) without compromising the fabric softness/lightness.

I’m one of the people who always chimes in since I work for lululemon! The aligns are meant as a studio-based pant, so yoga/Pilates/barre and the more you wear and wash them the quicker they’ll wear.. As Julie mentioned, we suggest washing with other athletic clothing and recommend keeping them away from denim and cottons (and definitely out of the dryer ;)). I have well over 10 pairs and they’re all going strong despite being a little more effort!

Sign me up for everything on this list please 🙂 I’ve been curious about the weighted blankets….sleep with a baby is so hit or miss. Sometimes I fall right back to sleep after the mid-night nursing session other times I just can’t fall back to sleep.
Also, for some neat (similar) jewelry check out @ericasara. She is the best.

Same!!! Sometimes I’m out immediately after nursing and other times (2x this week) I’m up for 2 hours reading in the middle of the night because I cannot fall back asleep. Sleep is a beast with a baby, that’s for sure!

Do you have the Fitbit Versa? Really torn between that and the Apple Watch and curious if you like it! Thanks & great post as always 🙂

I don’t but it looks awesome! It’s definitely on my radar. I don’t have an Apple Watch though so I’m not sure how it would compare. 🙂

Ah we have a lambs ear wreathe on top of a tobacco basket (is that what they’re called) and I love it! Hobby Lobby! Also, I have a good friend on Etsy who does wooden typographic art prints and she did the sign above Barrett’s crib, her shop name is Ridgewood Shop – you should check her out! She’s great!

These are such great gift ideas! As a big fan of jewelry, the personalized jewelry really stands out to me and I think it would be a great gift to both give and receive.

Great list, Julie! I have the same Sherpa jacket from Amazon, and I didn’t know it was a knock off of an A&F style. We scored on such a better price!
