Super-Fast Weights Workout

March 5, 2011 by Julie 53 Comments

Good morning!

I hope you are all doing well! I took the night off from blogging last night to enjoy a fun evening with Ryan and some of our friends. We had a great time and I hopped into bed last night with a big smile on my face and a full belly!

This morning we awoke nice and early to head right to the gym. No dilly dallying around here!

I actually woke up with a sore hiney! I think the lunges I did during yesterday’s boot camp class kicked my butt. Since I figured that I already put my body through some strength moves yesterday using only my body weight, I did a super-fast weights workout today to round out my strength training for the week.

This total-body workout included three sets of 15 reps of the following exercises and took me about 25 minutes to complete:

  • Leg extensions (35 lbs.)
  • Deadlifts (25 lbs.), super-set with bicep curls (15 lbs.)
  • Tricep dips (body weight), super-set with shoulder raises (10 lbs.)

I finished my workout with 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical.

Once we arrived home from the gym, Sadie wanted some attention, so we leashed her up for a walk through Winter Park.

By the time our walk was over I was starving. I was getting quite cranky and told Ryan that with every step I took, all I was thinking was, “Egg! Cheese! Bagel!”

Can you guess what we had for breakfast when we got home?

Breakfast

I quickly popped two cinnamon raisin bagel thins topped with muenster cheese into the toasted oven to make my favorite breakfast bagelwich for both of us.

While the bagels were toasting, I cooked egg whites on the griddle. After spreading raspberry jelly on one half of the toasted bagel thins, we had a delicious meal ready to enjoy!

This was actually Ryan’s first time trying my latest breakfast obsession and he agreed that it is pretty darn amazing.

I think I waited too long to eat this morning, because I’m still hungry. Off to grab a banana with some peanut butter before I hop into the shower!

I’m really excited for our plans today. Here’s a clue: It’s going to be a berry good time!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Egg whites, fake bagels, blah blah blah. I don’t know how or why people live on crappy diet food..

if you don’t like them, then definitely don’t eat them! i genuinely enjoy egg whites and cinnamon raisin bagel thins and am not on any kind of a diet. i eat food that i think tastes good and makes me feel good.

Stop reading, and don’t comment if you are that opposed. I am eating an everything bagel thin right now because it tastes amazing without being overloaded by bread. If i wanted to eat a big ass bagel I would, and I am sure she would too…what part of a bagel egg or cheese is crappy? If that’s a crappy food “diet” then bring it on, because it tastes awesome!

AMEN!! I just ate egg whites and turkey bacon. Its because I like it and it makes me FEEL good. Its not diet food. Its real food. If I wanted eggs and bacon I would. I think its all about balance. If I wanted a big bagel I would have instead I had a large banana with peanut butter and then I had my egg whites and turkey bacon with toast. Don’t read this or bash on Julie if you don’t like what shes doing. Do whats best for you and stop bashing on her.

How can you say egg whites are “crappy diet food”?? Eggs are def part of any healthy diet

Whole eggs are part of a healthy diet. The yolk is where all of the nutrition like vitamin d, e, b12, iron, phosphorus, selenium, zinc, etc. are. Egg whites are incomplete. They are a good source of protein, but don’t supply the adequate nutrition of a whole egg with yolk included. I’m just tired of seeing a preponderance of “light,” “low fat,” “low calorie” foods on blog after blog. It’s a clear reflection of how out of touch our society is when it comes to nutrition. Bagel thins are highly processed and loaded with artificial ingredients. What part of that equation can possibly make you feel good? An actual bagel from a bagel shop is mainly comprised of flour, salt, yeast. No fake ingredients that are difficult to pronounce. And they taste a hell of a lot better than any imitation bagel could. You only live once…

I’m in no way trying to bash Julie in particular. I just find it sad that women, in general, rely on processed, fake foods just because they’re lower in calories. Decades ago, there were no such thing as “bagel thins” as well as other factory produced fake foods, and our country was not facing an obesity epidemic like it is now. It’s not a coincidence, that’s for sure…

If you want to talk about eating healthy you would cut out white flour all together it does nothing for you except me full of empty calories and carbs

Vanessa, I agree with you 100%. I’m allergic to gluten, so I don’t eat any white/wheat flour products at all. But generally speaking, it’s much better to consume fake foods without mile long ingredients list than a real product with a few basic ingredients.

Now I know why you love them so much…..and is it just me, or do they taste heartier and doughier than the original ones? I dunno but they sure are good and I love them! Now I have to try your creation with eggs and muenster cheese! 🙂
