I didn’t realize that The Bachelorette didn’t start until 9:30 p.m. last night and went until 11 p.m. What the heck is with the late start time!?
Since I figured the first half hour would be dedicated to recapping Emily’s previous journey and I didn’t feel like staying up late, I DVRed the episode and plan to watch tonight. For those of you who watched, are there any guys who caught your eye? I got a text from one of my girlfriends this morning telling me about a super sweet single dad.
Instead of watching The Bachelorette, I spent some time before bed wrapping up the PBF May Book Club book, Still Missing.
(For those of you who asked about my shoes in this picture last week, they are Nike Free Run in Tropical Twist and were a birthday present from Ryan.)
Has anyone else finished this book? The first half was really disturbing and almost too much for me, but I really liked the second half. It was intense and had an unexpected twist!
Workout
Since I got to bed nice and early thanks to DVRing The Bachelorette, waking up at 5 a.m. wasn’t too painful.
Ryan and I started our workouts with 10 minutes on the stair master and then I did 10 more minutes on the elliptical before completing a workout that I tore out of the June issue of Fitness magazine.
It was basically a total-body circuit workout, but it wasn’t too heavy on lower body movements which was a good thing since I just worked out my legs yesterday and my hamstrings are a little sore today!
Breakfast
Today’s breakfast was an old blog world favorite!
I remember when I first discovered healthy living blogs at the end of 2008, it seemed like everyone was making The Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie.
Last night as I was eating a spoonful of peanut butter, I remembered her peanut buttery breakfast cookie and pulled up the recipe on my phone and prepped it which made breakfast this morning a breeze.
I didn’t follow her recipe exactly (I added a bit more oats and peanut butter), but it came out great. After topping it with a sliced banana, I dug right in!
Question of the Morning
It’s a random one…
- If you had the opportunity (assuming you are single if you are not), would you ever want to be on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette?
I actually secretly submitted an application for one of my girlfriends to be on the show and she got a call back in February! She already started dating someone by the time they got back to her, so it didn’t work out, but we were pretty excited! (Her grandparents were horrified at the thought of her being in a hot tub with a bunch of guys on national television so they’re happy it’s a no-go.) The people from The Bachelor actually followed up with my friend a few times since then but she’s still happily in a relationship. Kinda cool!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
My family actually submitted me for the Bachelor because they really liked Ben. I was never picked and after last season went I’m more than okay with that, but it definitely would be an interesting experience. One I’m not sure I could actually go through with if I was picked.
Steph says
I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed the second half of the book! I’m about 30% through right now, and it’s almost too much for me as well. Looking forward to seeing where the book heads!
Rachel Donald says
Ahhh!! I love your website! I cannot WAIT to try this cookie and I love reading your posts in the morning they brighten my day! 🙂
Katie @wishandwhimsy says
This looks AMAZING. I want to try this now…maybe breakfast tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
Melanie @ Just Some Salt and Pepper says
Anything combining peanut butter and oats is a winner in my book!
Lauren says
I just discovered the Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie and love it! I’ll have to try it with peanut butter though. I don’t think I could handle being on The Bachelor….I’m too jealous!
Lauren @ Part Time House Wife says
i wasn’t thrilled with the whack start time of the bachelorette either! I watched it this morning…and there were quite a few charmers this season…I’m just Happy Bently didn’t make an appearance!
Stephanie @ My Freckled Life says
I am WAY to awkward of a person to ever be on a show like that! haha. However, my HS business teacher was on Season 14 (the one with Jake the jerk pilot) – She was the one who dressed up like a flight attendent in the first or second episode (Ashley, for any diehard fans who remember names). Yea… let’s just say a LOT of boys in my HS took business classes…

watching DVR’d shows is so much better anyway—it’s ridiculous how many commercials there are.. it will take you 1/3 less of the time to watch it a day later! I never watch anything live anymore! What time do you usually go to bed with such an early wakeup call?
Kristin says
MM cookie for breakfast!! I would not want to be on the Bachelor or Bachelorette. It seems too scripted and weird to date that many people at once. That being said, I can’t help but get sucked in nearly every season. It’s so entertaining. Also, the phrase, “WINNING” has become a funny addition to jokes with my friends and I…hahaha
Alysia @ Slim Sanity says
that looks sooo good!!
Laura Lea @ Beanie Bumbles says
One of my best friend’s SISTER is super close with Emily and says she’s just as much of a sweetheart as she seems on the show! The connection has made it way more fun to watch this season and I just really keep hoping one of these dudes is good enough. There is NO way I’d go on the show though–it’s easy to judge the people on there, but I feel like some aspect of my personality that I wouldn’t predict would come out and look horrible or something!
Amy @Health Hungry says
mmmmm breakfast cookies… I tried to watch the Bachelorette last night, but I couldn’t do it – I liked her story, and I love cheeseball reality T.V. but for many reasons that show, and it’s very premise bothers me. I think it’s so odd that we, as a country are saying gay people shouldn’t marry – because it’s a sanctimonious institution, yet that show pumps out all kinds of, well – not the best examples of love and commitment. So no – I would never ever try to find love on television… However I FULLY support anyone’s right to watch whatever they want on T.V., perhaps it could be a fun show to play drinking games to. HA!

I *just* started this book. I’m only on page 55 so I am sure it’s going to get better…right now I’m not in the “I can’t wait to read this tonight!” phase. It’s harder for me to get into it b.c I am reading when I am really tired/falling asleep at night. ;0 I hope I like it!
I watched The Bachelorette this morning…there are a couple of guys that I liked..the one single dad seems so obvious, but he is nice. (so far).
An no, never. Ever. would be on that show…especially as “one” of the 25 women.
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
Woww, it’s pretty cool that your gf got a call from them! Haha!! I think I’m old-fashioned like the grandpas b/c I would never feel comfortable being in a bath tub with a bunch of men. 😛
Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola says
I was so mad the Bachelorette was on late too! It messed up my plan for the night! But I’m excited to watch it this week! I used to think that I would want to go on the show but I just don’t think I could get used to the guy I’m dating making out with other girls right in front of me! I think instead of fighting harder, I’d just decide that I didn’t want to be involved! Plus- I wouldn’t like being featured in the tabloids that I love to read!
Amy says
i would never be on one of those shows just bc they kinda manipulate the editing to make people look like asses haha..its good tv, i get it! speaking of that, my friends ex bf is on the bachelorette-arie! haha i cant believe hes on there its so weird. also kind of hilarious
Jacki says
I ordered my book from Amazon..hopefully it will be here soon!
Brittany @Little b's healthy habits says
I think it would be a fun, “why not” kind of experience, but I don’t think that I would go in to it thinking I would find true love. I don’t know that you can truly know someone enough to love them in that short amount of time.
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I just finished Still Missing. I actually didn’t like the end. I thought it was too far fetched!
natalie @ southern fit foodie says
Mmm I love making breakfast cookies! I think I’ll have to put one together tonight so I can enjoy it in the morning after my workout. 😉
Samantha says
Not a chance I would be on that show. 🙂
It is great reading all the comments and your account and just about everyone is finding the book pretty darn intense. I about 1/2 way through it and at first wondered if I would stick with it. I am so excited to be doing this book club though (first one).
And that cookie is amazing. I never thought about doing something like that!
courtney says
the guy with the ostrich egg is a freak! who does that?!
Maura @ My Healthy 'Ohana says
I think we are going to DVR and watch the Bachelorette on Tuesdays, it’s too late to be staying up til 11 and having to sit through commercials 🙂 My favorite was the single dad too, too cute!!
Brianna @ Don't Eat Crap says
Wow you must have done a great job at “selling” your girlfriend for them to keep coming back.
Haley @ Fit, Young, and Fabulous says
YES! I would love to be on the show! I am 18, and I tell myself that if I haven’t found prince charming shortly after I graduate from college, then Bachelor/Bachelorette auditions it is! And if you don’t exactly find your soul mate on the show, at least you get to travel! I was once on the reality tv show “There Goes the Neighborhood” which had the same producers as “The Bachelor.” So I’m hoping I can pull some strings and get the hook-up (; or find Prince Charming sooner than later!

Finished the book 2 days after I got it. It was like watching a car accident for the first half. It’s awful, but you can’t look away! I liked the twist at the ending, but I think it was rushed. Like maybe they could have thrown some clues in there?!
Gillian says
Single dad is sweet but I don’t see him making it til the final 4. My current fav is the skateboarder who weirdly spells his name Jef. He’s cute in a SUPER different way.
Amanda says
I finished Still Missing already and am in the process of writing a review. I have got to tell you, I was a little uncomfortable at certain spots. That did not stop me from turning the pages at an uncontrollable speed. 🙂
