Things I’m Loving Friday #285

June 21, 2019 by Julie 16 Comments

Good morning, friends!! Happy Friday! I am so, so pumped for the weekend ahead for no reason other than the fact that I’m craving time with my boys and Sadie.

It’s been a busy few weeks for our crew and more travel is on the agenda for next weekend so I am ready to soak up some normalcy over the course of the next couple of days. I’m not sure what our plans entail — we’ve talked about everything from meeting up with friends at the Whitewater Center to attending a fire truck festival or simply filling our days with boat time — so we will see where the weekend takes us!

In the meantime, I’m popping in today to share my usual Things I’m Loving Friday roundup of favs and would love for you to join in the fun in the comments section.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see ya here next week!

Things I’m Loving Friday #285

  • Core + Cardio Stack Workout

I feel like I’ve been slacking on sharing cardio workouts with you guys on the blog and that’s largely because I typically opt for strength based workouts when I exercise. Thankfully I have Burn Boot Camp to fill in the blanks for me and basically force me to do at least some cardio! The above workout is the cardio + core reverse stack workout we completed at boot camp yesterday morning and it was a SWEAT FEST. We did the running portion of the workout outside and I was absolutely dripping by the end of this one. I truly don’t think I’ve sweat so much in a workout in months. It was a great combination of cardio and core exercises and I wanted to share it here so I can also reference it in the future since I oddly loved it! And here are links to demos of the exercises in case any are unfamiliar to you: Donkey Kicks / Touchdown Jump Squats /  Cross Body Mountain Climbers / Russian Twists / Bicycle Crunches / Dumbbell Crunches

  • Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm

This Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm is so smooth and luxuriously moisturizing. It was an impulse buy for me a month or so ago and I’ve been using it nearly every day since I bought it. I love the way the lip balm glides on my lips smoothly, adding a perfect pop of color that’s pink enough to give my lips a little life but not too vibrant to make me feel overdone on days when I’m wearing barely any makeup. I bought the fruit punch color since my lips are flesh-colored and need all the help they can get to look a little pinker but it’s available in more vibrant hues, deeper plums, softer pinks and even a color-free lip balm.

  • Celebrating Lauren’s Baby #3

My friend Lauren is having her third baby! I met Lauren at boot camp when our first babies were around two months old and we immediately became fast friends. Chase and Claire have a bond that’s unreal and over the course of the past nearly four years, Lauren quickly became one of my closest friends. She’s expecting her third baby in August and her sister, mom and I planned a little celebration dinner for her last night that was so much fun!

It was laid back and sweet and I hope it made Lauren feel very loved! Even though we wanted to keep things low key, I couldn’t resist bringing a few special touches along to the dinner and was majorly impressed with the baby-related stuff available on Amazon these days! I found these adorable baby predictions/advice cards for everyone to fill out about Lauren and Tony’s baby and these cupcake toppers helped add a little flare to the Nothing Bundt Cakes bundtinis Lauren’s mom brought as a little sweet treat for the end of the night.

  • Explore Cuisine Noodles

A box of Explore Cuisine’s edamame and mung bean fettuccine and black soy bean spaghetti were random additions to a Thrive Market order a couple of months ago and I’ve been adding them to my Thrive Market orders ever since! The “pasta” is made solely of ground edamame and mung beans or black soy beans but somehow still has a fantastic, noodle-y texture. I love that these noodles contain a decent amount of fiber and protein and have been using them in stir fry dishes (topped with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning seared tuna!) as well as variations of pad Thai.

Loving: 1st birthday party prep and fresh snap&snow peas from the garden.
Are you traveling alone again next weekend or with the family? How has Ryder been doing when you’re away? I know you mentioned the lipase issue and him having no interest in bottles.
Have a great weekend whatever you end up doing 🙂

i’m bringing the boys with me to spend a week in jacksonville with my family over the fourth of july so thankfully i’ll have them with me this time! as for the lipase issue, it’s still a huge pain but i did my best to pump before i traveled and scalded the milk and hoped for the best — he shockingly took it fairly well this time which was both a HUGE relief and very confusing… but i’ll take it! i also ended up buying a can of baby’s only organic forumla for him to have on hand which he needed for a bottle or two. thankfully now that he’s a year he doesn’t really NEED breastmilk, so i feel a little more freedom creeping in since he eats solids really well.

I recently bought a sample of the living proof dry shampoo – UGH! I can never go back to my cheapy dry shampoo! It works so well! Definitely worth the money. With two under two… Washing my hair every other day is just not a priority right now!

I recently purchased Rishi tea – Mushroom Hero. It is organic and caffeine free and tastes like coffee. It is so good. Right now, their site is running a 20% sale. I also love the Honest lip balm – Summer Melon. Have a great weekend. I love these Friday posts ?

I love tinted lip balm!! I hate wearing lipstick so this at least gives me a little color. I hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend with your family!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Julie! What’s making me happy this week are all the great books that were recently released! The summer season always seems to bring new books from a lot of my favorite authors. I recently finished reading City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert and now I’m onto Maybe You Should See Someone by Lori Gottleib. Next to follow is The Friends We Keep by Jane Green!
