Things I’m Loving Friday #378

July 23, 2021 by Julie 3 Comments

Friday is here!! We are especially psyched for this weekend for two reasons: 1. My mother-in-law, Diane, flew in from Sarasota yesterday and will be here through Monday. 2. It’s Chase’s sixth birthday party! At their request, we’re doing a combo party for Chase and his BFF Claire again (we did one when they turned three as well) and will be celebrating with friends, cake, a water bounce house and outside fun. I’m really looking forward to it and I know Chase is, too!

As for today, we’ll be spending our Friday hanging out with Diane, prepping for the party tomorrow and enjoying the sunshine. I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy this week’s roundup of favorites, Things I’m Loving Friday style!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Return to Burn Boot Camp

(Beyond Yoga Gunmetal Sparkle Black Leggings / Tank Top / Adidas Sneakers)

After 1.5 years of working out at home and streaming Burn Boot Camp workouts from my garage, I went back to the gym on Wednesday. Oooh how I missed the Burn community and in-person workouts! I’ve met some of my closest friends in the area through Burn and it felt amazing to have access to heavier weights and awesome trainers and feel the motivation that only comes from being around other people out there crushing it. I’m still planning to do many of my workouts at home but hope to make boot camp work when it aligns with the boys’ schedules, naps, etc.

  • Our Fig Tree

Our fig tree is in its prime right now! The boys love picking figs and eating them right off the tree every day and we’ve been flying through our supply. We’re at the beginning of the time when our figs are ripe enough to pick and I know that pretty soon we’re going to be giving figs by the bushel to our friends and neighbors because hey always seem to ripen at once. I made a delicious baked chicken dish with figs earlier this week and I have fig ice cream recipe on my radar to try next! This recipe is calling to me and I am thinking of adding crushed oatmeal cookies into the ice cream at the very end of the churn cycle. YUM!

  • The End of Rhett’s Nursing Strike

You guys, this is such a HUGE relief to me. When we were in Florida, Rhett was on a big-time nursing strike for almost the entire time we were away. It was incredibly stressful and I tried everything to get him to latch and nurse. He’d push away from me, arch his back and scream every time I tried. I got to the point where I was pumping and offering him various cups and bottles of breastmilk and it would take him HOURS to drink 3 ounces. He’s all-in on real food so I wasn’t worried about him getting enough to eat but I also know breastmilk (or formula) is important for babies under one. Dream feeding Rhett when he was sound asleep was one of the only ways I could get him to nurse while we were away but when we returned home, day by day he’s been nursing more and more. I’m not sure if he missed his usual nursing environment in his room or if he just had major FOMO when we were in Florida and didn’t want to take a break from the excitement around him to breastfeed  or if it was teething or what but man oh man am I relieved his nursing strike seems to be on the way out. These little babies know how to put their mamas through the ringer, I’m tellin’ ya.

  • Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing for card holders right now and I took full advantage and nabbed a few things for me and the boys. This sale gets a LOT of hype and while I do think there are some good deals, I just comb through the sale in search of the standout items and also use the sale to get a jumpstart on holiday gifting. Below you’ll find the items that jumped out at me as well as the items I ordered and past favorites. (Note: The sale opens to everyone this coming Wednesday but it’s easy to save sale items to a wish list if you’re hoping to shop later and don’t have a Nordstrom card. Also, sold out items are periodically restocked.)

Women’s Apparel and Accessories

UGG Cozy Chenille Socks (Great to scoop up now for holiday gifting.)

Cole Haan Over-the-Knee Boot ($100 off but still a splurge — I ordered these boots because one review said they’re great for thicker calves. Crossing my fingers they work well for me!)

Zella Cozy Court Shorts (I ordered these this year — I was sold by the longer inseam — and have high hopes!)

Free People Movevment Ombre Sweatshirt (So cozy and love the tie-dye design.)

Honeydew Intimates Jersey Pajamas (Love this brand of loungewear.)

adidas Lounge Crop Hoodie (I bought this as well because I basically live in hoodies in the fall and winter months and this will pair well with various colored joggers and leggings.)

Treasure & Bond Nude Mules (I wear my nude mules with everything in the cooler months.)

Levi’s Denim Jacket (A classic denim jacket in the perfect shade of denim)

Madewell Classic Sweatpants (Can you tell I have a soft spot for loungewear?)

Baby + Kids

STOKKE High Chair (If I was going to re-do our baby registry, I’d register for this high chair! My sister has it and it’s fabulous and easy to clean.)

Nike Pull-On Sneakers (Pull-on for the win!)

Tucker + Tate Moto Joggers (I ordered these trendier joggers for our boys. Cool sweatpants are where it’s at for our active dudes.)

Tucker + Tate Mountain Jacket (Great transitional jacket for fall.)

VANS Sneakers (I nabbed VANS for the boys during last year’s sale and they hold up so well thanks to the thick soles.)

North Face Jackets (A great time to snatch up a winter coat for little ones.)

Home

Reversible Knit Blanket (I ordered this one. Love that it can switch from a ribbed knit to a waffle stitch.)

Stagg Electric Kettle (This is so gorgeous!)

LARQ Self-Cleaning Water Bottle (Such a genius invention.)

Barefoot Dreams Blanket (This makes everyone’s list of Nordstrom sale finds and it wasn’t until I ordered one that I understood why. 100 percent lives up to the hype. It’s so soft and cozy an the perfect weight. A great holiday gift!)

Items I Own and Love

adidas Swift Run Sneakers (I’ve had 3 pairs of these sneakers and just adore them. I ordered the white leopard print this year! Note: Order 1/2 size down because they run big.)

Moonlight Pajamas (Ridiculously popular for a reason! I have the short version and long version and love them. They’re also a great baby shower gift and the perfect new mom pajamas. I wore them in the hospital after giving birth to both Ryder and Rhett.)

Barefoot Dreams Cardigan (I call this my “robe that’s not a robe” because it’s so comfy! I wear it around the house all winter long.)

Free People Longline Bralette (I have this in 3 colors and love the way it looks peeing out under various tops.)

Zella Live-In High Waist Leggings (Smoothing and so flattering.)

Oribe Texturizing Spray (The best for giving hair a little grit to make styling and top knots look more voluminous.)

Barefoot Dreams Blanket (My favorite blanket ever.)

adidas Slides (So comfy and a classic for a reason.)

  • Friday Flashbacks

Easy Marinated Pork Chops (Love this versatile marinade — I used it on chicken two weeks ago and it was so good!

Easy Marinated Pork Chops

Quinoa Tabbouleh Salad (Simple, bright and perfect for summer.)

I am so glad the strike is over! That is so stressful and Beck is at a point right now where he gets SO distracted and I worry he isn’t getting enough too! SO happy burn bootcamp is back in person for you and can’t wait to check out all of your picks from Nordstrom!
