I have a totally random blog post topic to discuss this morning, but first, let’s wake up with breakfast.
Oh hey, yogurt bowl! It’s been a while, huh?
(Pay no attention to the woman in the spoon…)
Today’s breakfast included a strawberry Greek yogurt bowl topped with oats and sliced almonds. I was really craving overnight oats but since I failed to prep a batch last night, this yogurt and oat hodgepodge bowl was the next best thing.
This morning, as I made myself a cup of coffee, I honestly felt myself feel warmer inside before I even took a sip. I realized, then and there, just how much I love sipping on a hot beverage every morning.
A hot mug of coffee or tea makes me feel cozy, calm (well, until the caffeine kicks in) and just plain happier. That’s totally crazy, right!? Well, as I started to think about just how happy a hot morning mug of coffee or tea makes me, I began thinking of other things that make me happier than they should. Things that are great, but their greatness is really disproportionate to my love for them.
For example: Candles.
Candles are lovely, sure, but are they really that awesome? Probably not. But I really do adore the way lighting a candle can change the ambiance of a room and the way the strong smell of a holiday pine candle can take over our house and make it feel more homey.
More things I love more than I should:
- Clean sheets
- Pajamas
- Seafood
- Oversize cozy blankets
- Gel nail polish (a splurge I rarely do, but ohmygosh it lasts so much longer)
- Father of the Bride
- BodyPump
- Frozen yogurt
- The Pitch Perfect soundtrack
- Lip balm
- An empty email inbox (this is just a pipe dream, but oh how wonderful it would be)
- Mojitos
- Scarves
- Crafting
- Sparkling water
- Slippers
And then there are things I love way too much that I think are 100 percent deserving of all the love: My family, my best friends, Sadie, hiking, traveling, date nights, the mountains, reading, Christmas, dessert, massages and a homecooked meal.
I thought this might make a fun (and yes, totally random) topic for today’s blog post and I’d love to hear about things you love a little too much below!
Questions of the Morning
- What are some things you love more than you really should?
- What are some things you love that absolutely deserve your love and obsession?
Hot Tea
Red Wine
Girls Nights (totally deserving)
Watching football with my parents and dog
Painting my nails
Pool days – come on summer!
Leftovers
I love ice cream way too much for sure! And I also love taking off jeans or a real outfit at the end off the day and changing into cozy clothes or pajamas for the night!
Surprised to see Peanut Butter didn’t make your list!!! haha 🙂 But I’m right there with you on the morning coffee, candles and MOJITOS! yum! I could go for one right now, nevermind that its only 10am! Its 5 o’clock somewhere, right?
This is a great topic! My list includes:
– clean sheets and pajamas that you can snuggle in straight from the warm dryer
– waking up on a weekend morning and just being able to lay in bed for a while
– making lists and crossing things off those lists (sometimes I add things to a list after I’ve already done them just to be able to cross them off)
– the smell of a good spring rain
– magnificent fall leave colors
And of course those things that are completely deserving:
– my family and friends
– the start of a trip to a new place
– sitting on the beach with a good book in hand
Lol omg I totally add things I just did to lists to cross them off. Ha ha I thought I was the only one. Thanks for letting me know I’m ok 🙂
Fresh, clean bed sheets right out of the dryer and just made bed with them. If I could, I would wash my bed sheets every day (if it weren’t for that darn water bill) because I feel I sleep so much better this way. I also love scarves. I have over 15 (that doesn’t include my winter scarves either)–can you say obsessed much? I also have a love of board games. I would seriously pick a board game night as a date over anything else hands down.
I must agree with you on most of the items on your “Things I love more than I should” list. A good sweaty workout, a nice warm run on a summer evening, my dogs Cora and Nika, family, coffee, the beach, candles, I could go on and on!
Oh froyo for sure, daily planners, Parenthood, grocery shopping… lol love this topic!
Coffee, new socks, finding great things at thrift stores and yard sales, target’s clearance section, target’s popcorn, french fries, office supplies, the Redskins
( us fans know what i mean lol) hanging with my dog….maybe this is ok though because he’s so friggin cute!
Target in general should be on everyone’s list! 🙂
Totally agree with the clean sheets!
*A hot shower after being out in the cold
*Musical Theatre
*Peanut butter
*laying on the beach and listening to the waves and feeling a warm breeze on your face 🙂
yes to musical theatre! <3 <3 <3
I love this idea! Coffee is definitely #1 for me, which leads to me having it far more often than I should. It’s not even about the caffeine most of the time – it’s that happy warm feeling you get inside. 🙂
Also, my bed at home. I seriously miss that thing more than almost anything and wake up a new woman after a night in there.
New soft and cozy socks. Athletic, fancy, boot…I don’t care. I love new socks!
hahaha! i love this because i’m the same way! LOVE new socks!
Ha, this was the first thing I thought of too! My husband thinks it’s weird to be so excited about socks, but I love going for a run in a new, still-cushy pair 😀
YES to absolutely everything on your list… I will also add:
– anything mint + chocolate flavored
– anything pumpkin
– anything involving sunshine
– anything involving the beach
– anything
Ha! 😉
If you like gel nail polish you should try Jamberry. They are nail stickers and they last a super long time and have great prints! They are a splurge but so much fun.
i’ve heard such great things about jamberry!
I just ordered some and can send you a sample to try if you want. I didn’t think I would like them but the designs are so great and they last so much longer than nail polish that I was hooked.
Google Shared Calendar with my boyfriend!
Such a fun topic! Things I love more than I should:
-taking a nap without setting an alarm
-drinking coffee in bed while reading magazines on Saturday mornings
-sunny mornings
-how transformative blow drying my hair and applying makeup can be (seriously, I’m always amazed lol)
-having no plans on a Friday night
-new workout clothes
-baking on the weekends
Interesting perspective on loving versus really “loving” something.
Things I love more than I should → cozy fire, margaritas, froyo, cupcakes, wine, (so far this list makes me sound warm and unhealthy), mail, my phone, football, popcorn.
Things that I really love → My husband, family, friends, running, traveling, going to the movies, my husband’s cooking, the outdoors, blogging, long weekends, road trips, the beach.
I love this post so much because there are so many things that I love way more than I should (and think that very same thought – haha!). I think what tops my list would have to be organzing my nail polish in a color coordinated rainbow, greek yogurt smoothies, and my ninja blender (since it makes the smoothies!), blogging from bed, with my coffee, and of course, glitter!
I totally agree with you. I love my morning coffee. There is just something relaxing about sitting at your kitchen table, eating a good morning breakfast and sipping slowly on a cup of coffee.
I love clean sheets too!
Love this topic! My favorite things would also have to be clean sheets, Moscato, a good Bloody Mary, a book you can read in a day b/c you can’t put it down!, snow, my puppy!, and the perfect lip color!
Also saw you in this month’s Self magazine, congrats!!!!! Now more people are going to see how fabulous you are! 🙂
thank you so much, paige!! 🙂
1. almond butter Perfect Bars
2. Noosa Honey Yoghurt
3. Books
4. Zelda
5. Frank Sinatra
I know there are more, but those are the first ones to pop into my head.
Can I just say how much I love that Father of the Bride is on your list? I swear I could watch that movie every single day and never get bored. I cry every single time at the basketball scene and I don’t know why. So many things on your list would definitely fall under mine! If I’m just going to list movies, I would go with:
-Father of the Bride (duh!)
-Steel Magnolias
-My Best Friend’s Wedding
-Fried Green Tomatoes
I think I love these so much because they remind me of my Mom and Dad. Whenever I was little and stayed at home sick, my Mom would stay home with me and usually pop in one of the above movies. It just brings back so many memories and whenever they are on, I just feel home again. Weird, right?
Other things I love more than I should:
-Cleaning…don’t ask me why but I absolutely adore cleaning. It is therapeutic and there’s something about walking into a clean home that instantly makes me feel more relaxed.
-Birthday Cake Oreos….obviously
-Office and desk supplies…my favorite store is Staples. I get giddy in the Post-It section and enjoy only a certain brand of pens (EnerGel if you’re curious LOL).
I’m so bizarre.
please let some of your cleaning gene rub off on me!! 🙂
Hahaha EVERY picture your post of your home looks gorgeous! Is there a big mess not in the picture we’re not seeing? I find it hard to believe that your house isn’t spotless! 🙂
Office supplies YES! Brand new pens and post its just make my day! Color coordinated, of course.. 😉
Hahaha I am SO glad I’m not the only one! There’s nothing like writing with a GREAT pen. 🙂
I agree with so many things on your lists! I have to add:
Waking up to lots of snow, followed by a school cancellation and staying home all day
Sitting on the porch during a thunderstorm
Things I love more than I probably should
-dog kisses. Love em.
-clean sheets
-car pooling with my husband to work
-a good deal I can’t turn down
-amazon
love dog kisses so much <3
Your list has so many stuff I already love. The pajama one cracks me up since my husband just told me yesterday I need to stop stealing his! Lol
I have that same mug 🙂 My bf got it for my for my Christmas stocking. That is one thing I love more than I probably should, I’ve even posted it on Instagram haha
Some things I really love a little too much is walking into a library/bookstore, post-it notes, meatloaf, and when I have been away from my phone for a while and I come back to it with a lot of text messages.
I’m with you on the frozen yogurt, mojitos, BodyPump…wine is on my list too!
Raw cookie dough and ANY smell from baked goods in the oven.
Oh, and the smell of onions + garlic sautéing on the stove. Mmm.
Clean sheets are THE BEST. This probably seems like a major ‘DUH’ but I can’t believe how different the bed feels when you slip into clean sheets. Also, ANYTHING Pitch Perfect is wonderful and I am going to add Chipotle and Lemon-Lime seltzer water to the list of things I love more than I should 🙂
I’d take everything on your list!
– First tan of the summer (though I try and be good in the sun, FINALLY having a little color makes all the difference after winter!)
– Clean sheets (echoing everyone else)
– Sushi
– Random texts from my sister
– Getting Starbucks at the start of running errands on a Saturday
– Great cheeses that my parents always seem to have at their house (esp with a glass of wine!)
My list would have a lot of similarities to yours as well as include wine, frozen yogurt, Food Network shows, Eos lip balm, big comfy blankets!
What a fun question! I love lots of things more than I should, but then again, these are sometimes the things that make life so happy. My list includes bubble baths (I take one every, single night), pizza, Sunday afternoons, bookstores, new books, old books, coffee, long walks, and when my cat sleeps in our bed or on my lap.
This conversation reminds me of my favorite passage from one of my favorite books, If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things:
“You must always look with both of your eyes and listen with both of your ears. He says this is a very big world and there are many many things you could miss if you are not careful. There are remarkable things all the time, right in front of us, but our eyes have like the clouds over the sun and our lives are paler and poorer if we do not see them for what they are. If nobody speaks of remarkable things, how can they be called remarkable?”
In fact, I have a canvas that says, “There are remarkable things all the time” on my bedroom wall 🙂
i LOVE that! thanks for sharing!! <3
That’s beautiful. I needed that. Thank you 🙂
Coming up with this list made me so happy! I love these things so much that just thinking about them makes me happy. Ha! 🙂
– An empty email inbox – totally agree with you!
– Satisfaction of completing a big project
– Those runs where you feel fast and light and like you could go forever 🙂
– Autumn leaves / clothes / weather
– Lemon bars 🙂
– sushi
– DisneyWorld/DisneyLand

I love chocolate, WAY too much. It’s really a problem! I think I’m a chocoholic. My sweet tooth is out of this world!
I immediately thought of this when you wrote that you love oversized cozy blankets:
http://www.diyncrafts.com/10222/home/see-knitted-cozy-giant-blanket-pvc-pipes
I think someone should make me one, and I would never leave my bed – or couch.
With a hot cup of tea, a good book, and my kitty… mhmmm…
What a cheery post! I love Thursdays WAY MORE than makes sense. I think most people are “eh” about them because they’re just a gateway to Friday. But it seems to me that so many good things in my life happen on Thursdays, so I’m a forever fan.
The smell and feel of my dog after she’s had a bath. (She has blueberry muffin shampoo, it’s the best.)
I also love candles.
A fireplace in the winter
Laying out in the sun in the summer
COFFEE. Hot or iced, it doesn’t really matter
Reality television
I love food way more than I should!
This is so fun; I love learning about my favorite bloggers in little random ways like this!
Things I love a little too much: fun socks, Diet Coke, pretty notebooks and planners, Target, leggings, alone time, fireplaces, mornings, and giant fuzzy blankets
Things totally deserving of my love: ice cream (and all other dessert), my dog, the lovely people in my life, learning new things, exploring new places, reading, cooking/baking, and being active in pretty much any form.
Obviously, I also love BODYPUMP, BODYATTACK and Les Mills group fitness a whole lot. I also love gel nail polish, cream cheese frosting, hot tea in the morning and drinking wine with my husband. Yup! Oh and having a totally organized house and inbox. 🙂
Certain movies like Elf and Hocus Pocus, even when it’s not the season. Also Annie, the Wizard of Oz, the Goonies and other childhood/throwback movies

My seafoam Kitchenaid Stand Mixer
Extra large wine glasses (it tastes better!) and Fun coffee mugs
Guilty pleasure TV shows like Vanderpump Rules
Little white shorts in the summer

– Glass of red wine
– freshly made bed
